172 It's The SMALLS That MATTER

172 It's The SMALLS That MATTER

Mike Wolfe from the TV show American Pickers says, “It’s the smalls that keep us in business.

These guys go after big items like, high six figure vintage cars, trucks, and motorcycles. They restore historic buildings. They shop through out the USA to fill their stores in Iowa and Nashville. But the things that keep them going are the small items that can be sold to anyone. Those individual valuable items they buy with certain people in mind.

The church is the same way. It’s those one-on-one times with individuals that change the trajectory of your community and the world. It’s the smalls that keeps your student ministry in business too!

The “face to face asks” have been the most impactful, long term effective moments in all of my ministry life. The big events, trips, camps, adventures, and big meetings where we had everyone we could invite show up were incredibly important. But…the after meetings of small groups, asking a student or parent, or someone who is wanting to know more, the question… “Would you like to have a personal relationship with Jesus?” or “What’s happening in your life?”… “Is there something I can pray for you about?”

Those smalls! That’s what keeps us alive. That’s what fuels a movement, a mission… not just a program or something that won’t last.

    7 – Restorations

    7 – Restorations

Even though this is technically the seventh My First Band episode, this was the first interview recorded for the show ... by a long shot. Last October, host Tyler Maas asked Restorations if any members wanted to be interviewed for the yet-unnamed show when the band came to Cactus Club in Milwaukee to play in support of their recently released masterpiece, LP5000. Despite the whole "podcast not actually existing" thing, two members of the Philadelphia rock outfit graciously agreed to sit down to talk about some of their early work.

Restorations bassist Dan Zimmerman and guitarist/keyboardist Ben Pierce met Maas in the venue's green room before their show last year. There, Zimmerman talked about growing up in small-town Pennsylvania and Pierce discussed starting out in New Jersey before both were brought to Philadelphia to be part of a number of bands in the city's vibrant D.I.Y. music scene. Along the way, the bandmates mentioned early shows in churches and skating rinks, they reminisced about CD-R demos, and everyone gave a ringing endorsement to Sticker Guy.

My First Band is sponsored by Boulevard Brewing and is edited by Jared Blohm. You can listen to My First Band on iTunes, Stitcher, Spotify and wherever else you get podcasts. Music used in this show comes courtesy of Devils Teeth (“The Junction Street Eight Tigers”), Highlites ("Homework") and Arms Of Orion ("First Round K.O.").

EP154: Fixed Restoration using Locator F-Tx System

EP154: Fixed Restoration using Locator F-Tx System

There is now an alternative fixed restoration that is not a hybrid restoration. Zest International has developed an abutment and a system called the locator FTX system. In this episode we discuss using four or more implants in either the maxilla or mandible and specifically 13 cases that were studied for 3 years showing that this is a successful and reasonable treatment modality. Anybody treating patients with fixed full Arch Restorations needs to be aware of this treatment concept.

Changing Lives: More than Just Teeth

Changing Lives: More than Just Teeth

Dr. Ted Filandrianos DMD, FAGD has been practicing dentistry since 1981 and has continually been voted, “America’s Top Dentist” by the Consumer Research Council of America since 2003. When it comes to diagnosing patients, this caring dentist doesn’t just look in the mouth. Specializing in a wide range of cosmetic procedures, from full mouth reconstruction to cosmetic "white" restorations, Dr. Ted's goal is to not just treat the symptoms but also determine the root cause of the problem. Working with his dental team of 5, he uses Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) to rebuild the bite and make the patients stop grinding and clenching.
