Ep. 199: Arcane Sounds From The Big SCREAM 2

Happy Friday the 13th! Join us as we head over to Video Shop to pick out a frightastic flick! That’s right, we are going to rent some tapes and we’re prepared for blood n’ gore n’ frights! Did you ever hear about rock bands selling their souls to the devil, and if you listen to their music or play their albums backward you will turn into a demonic zombie??? The 70s, 80s, and 90s were full of films about horrific demons and metal n’ punk bands either having their songs featured in the movie or were themselves featured as the subject of the film. Grab your Reeses Pieces, large Coke, a severed limb, and hum along.

What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week Robert gets a glimpse into another collection of lost and forgotten songs from the silver screen SCREAM! Our hope is that we turn you on to something new… and that you make it to the end of the movie!

    Songs this week include:

    1. Dee Snider – “Inconclusion” from Dee Snider’s Strangeland (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)(1998)
    2. Dangerous Toys – “Demon Bell (The Ballad Of Horace Pinker” from Shocker - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (1989)
    3. Lion – “Love Is A Lie” from Friday The 13th – The Final Chapter – Songs From The Original Motion Picture (1984)

Into the Pits With Punk Rock Horror

Into the Pits With Punk Rock Horror

This week, the boys are rowdy as they debate Connecticut being spooky, debate their favorite Janets between Susan Sarandon and Jessica Harper (an unfair question to be honest), leaving time to review Blue Beetle, Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar, Swallowed (2022), The Meg 2: The Trench, Joe Lo Truglio's Outpost, Grizzly 2: Revenge, and the Pope's Exorcist.

After all that, the boys trash their way into this week's topic, Punk Rock Horror! Discussing representation of punk in films, best examples, most cartoonish ones, their favorite Lee Ving roles, and why horror and punk rock go together like peanut butter and chocolate. ITS ALL NEW ON EYE ON HORROR!!

    Ep. 028 - George A Romero's Day of the Dead (1985)

"You want to put some kind of explanation down here before you leave? Here's one as good as any you're likely to find: We're being punished by the Creator. He visited a curse on us. So man could look at...what Hell was like. Maybe he didn't want to see us blow ourselves up, put a big hole in the sky. Maybe he just wanted to show us he's still boss man. Maybe he figure we getting too big for our britches, tryin to figure his shit out."

It's the Gone With The Wind of zombie movies, Okay?

It's 1985's Day of the Dead!

We hope you love this episode to death… There are some frightfully spooktacular songs on this episode that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck and nether regions! Happy Halloween everyone!

What is it we do here at InObscuria? In the beginning, good always overpowered the evils of all man's sins... But in time the nations grew weak, and our cities fell to slums while evil stood strong. In the dusts of hell, lurked the blackest of hates. For he whom they feared awaited them... Now many many lifetimes later lay destroyed beaten down and only the corpses of rebels, ashes of dreams, and bloodstained streets remain... It has been written"Those who have the youth, have the future". So, come now children of the beast; be strong and shout at the devil!
