Coach's Corner 6: How the Mass and the Eucharist Can Help You Evangelize

Coach's Corner 6: How the Mass and the Eucharist Can Help You Evangelize
Why is sharing the source and summit of our faith rarely the first step to take when evangelizing? I want others to know and love Jesus. I know and love Jesus in the Eucharist, so why shouldn’t I jump straight to inviting non-believers to mass or adoration? While the Eucharist isn’t our opening act, we should by no means forget it entirely. The Eucharist is our headliner! On today’s Coach’s Corner, I make the case that the Eucharist is in fact missional. It is missional because it is the source of our life, because we are sent on mission from Eucharistic communities, and because the mass itself commissions us to, “Go out and proclaim the gospel with your lives!” Join me to hear: * 1 way the Mass CANNOT help you evangelize. * 3 ways the Eucharist CAN help you evangelize. * How the Road to Emmaus reinforces the need for Mass and the Eucharist when evangelizing. * How to live the missionary character of the Eucharist. Day 183: The Mass of All Ages

Day 183: The Mass of All Ages
Celebrating the sacrament of the Eucharist has been part of the Tradition of the Catholic Church for 2,000 years. Fr. Mike unpacks the citation from St. Justin Martyr's First Apology, which beautifully describes the structure of the Mass in AD 155 and captures how the Early Church had the same understanding of the Eucharist as we do today. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 1341-1347. Disappointment Keeps You From Your Appointment
Disappointment Keeps You from Your Appointment The Road to Emmaus – Luke 24 Failure to recognize truth left them spiritually dull. Spiritual dullness is a result of having a lack of wisdom. Wisdom comes from the fear of the Lord. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. The tomb was empty. They could not see Jesus, although He was standing beside them. Jesus walked up beside them and spoke with them, yet their disappointment kept them blind and disillusioned to reality – God’s reality. Disappointment keeps you from your appointed time. #Luke 24, #Road to Emmaus, #Truth, #God’s Word,

Absalom Part IV: Humility & Loyalty in the King’s Procession [Part 2] (2 Samuel 15:13-16:14)

Last week we discussed David's long, sad processional out from Jerusalem towards the borders of Israel, showing kindness and humility and trust in God's will along the way.  Today we connect David's journey to Jesus, Who took a reverse long, sad procession towards Jerusalem.  Jesus' journey is beautiful and powerful enough to change outsiders to insiders, as He marches towards the difficult will of His Father.

Also, since this is a shorter sermon, and because CCBC is full of hilarious people, we've added some extra bonus material, including a communion meditation and portion of a song that both connect with the sermon, a Scripture reading from a special young lady, Chris getting a whistle blown on him for preaching too long, and Abe making a very hilarious PG-13 confession!

Dealing with Discouragement on the Road to Emmaus

Dealing with Discouragement on the Road to Emmaus

On the day of the resurrection, two followers of Christ were walking home to Emmaus, discouraged and disillusioned about the events of the past few days. All that they thought was going to happen seemed lost, their hope destroyed. But as a third traveler joins them, he begins to explain from the Scriptures what was to happen to the Messiah. Soon enough, the two discouraged travelers discover their new companion is Jesus himself. Jesus adjusted their expectations, He realigned them with biblical reality and that changed their total perspective. Are you discouraged? Pastor Tim has some suggestions for you today if you are!
