    Super Pod Sunday

    Super Pod Sunday

As the confetti settled on the Super Bowl field, there's a shared rush of adrenaline and a hint of sorrow as we close the book on another NFL season. We tackle the emotional rollercoaster of football fandom, from the thrill of the XFL and USFL to keeping the sports flame alive with hockey and basketball chatter. We're not just reminiscing; we're dissecting the incredible journey of resilience and determination that brought a player from the Jets to clinch a Super Bowl victory with the Chiefs, symbolizing the unpredictable tides of professional sports.

Ever been so engrossed in a game that you could feel the chemistry between players and coaches through the screen? That's what we explore as we analyze the Super Bowl showdown, the strategic ballet often overlooked amidst the flash of halftime shows and heart-stopping plays. From the slow burn of the first half to the Chiefs' historic win, we break down the turning points, including the critical role of kickers, and weigh in on whether Patrick Mahomes is the next legend in the making. Share in our traditions and reflections, like my steak taco superstition, and join the debate on the complexities of wide receiver versus defensive back - a heated topic that draws examples from NFL greats to tackle the mental and physical demands of these positions.

Finally, we're charting the course of NFL team building and coaching strategies, with an analytical eye on the Super Bowl's impact on team dynamics and the salary cap's role in roster decisions. We compare memorable performances to iconic football moments and scrutinize coaching choices in the crucible of the game, all while making bold predictions for future Super Bowl contenders. Will the Buffalo Bills break through, or is there an Aaron Rodgers-led fairy tale on the horizon? Listen in for a dynamic and passionate exploration of football's finest moments and the undying anticipation that keeps us coming back for more.

Overcoming a Love/Hate Relationship with the Beach: Pam Uzzell

Overcoming a Love/Hate Relationship with the Beach: Pam Uzzell

Today’s guest is Pam Uzzell, the creator and host of Art Heals All Wounds - a podcast that’s changing the world - one artist at a time.

Pam and I met as members of the “pod squad,” - the slack community created by Squadcast - a remote podcast platform we use to record our shows.

Pam reached out to me a few months ago with a wonderful story about her love-hate relationship with the beach. It starts out in childhood and ends in her adulthood - with the series of events in between that helped shape and form her sense of self-worth and belonging.

    It’s a self-described rom-com of sorts.

We talk about the differences between East Coast and West Coast beaches, how relationships reflect who we think we are or should be, and all the ways we listen to the beach - not just with our ears, but deep within our body - and soul.

Here’s Pam’s story of how her love/hate relationship with the beach became a profound lesson in love, acceptance, and belonging  - when she finally chose to listen!

Hugh Hewitt: The Storm Is Coming

Hugh Hewitt: The Storm Is Coming

California voted on Tuesday, June 7th, and the results shocked Democrats across the country, especially those in the C-suites of progressive political organizations, the Democratic Party, and of course, television news executives--all part of the deep blue bubble that covers Manhattan and Washington D.C. Not only did San Francisco give the boot, a big boot to progressive D.A. Chesa Boudin, it did so by the extraordinary margin of 60 percent favoring his recall.

And: Republican Stanford Law Professor Lanhee Chen was by far the top vote-getter in the race for the State Controller job, the money watchdog. Voters are tired of scandal after scandal, wasting hundreds of billions on the West Coast.

GOP nominee for Attorney General Nathan Hochman also won the right to contest that office. And every GOP member who sought renomination won it, including Young Kim, Mike Garcia, Michelle Steel and David Valadao.

It was a great night for California as a Republican. It was also a very loud thunderclap for Democrats, everywhere.  The storm is coming for the open borders, no prosecution, defund the police party. Americans want the rule of law, not rules laid down by the protected and detached elites.

    Chesa Boudin: Rethinking Prosecution

    Chesa Boudin: Rethinking Prosecution

For half a century, tough-minded prosecutors have led the way imposing stiff and lasting penalties on lawbreakers. Now a new generation of progressive prosecutors is trying to use the awesome powers of their offices to dismantle mass incarceration. In this conversation, San Francisco’s District Attorney Chesa Boudin talks with UH law school dean Camille Nelson about the promise and pitfalls of rethinking prosecution. Topics include: police reform and accountability, cash bail and economic discrimination, and more humane approaches to drug addiction and homelessness.
