The Three Ways of Knowing Ourselves with Daniel Damodar Cordua

Themes: Self Awareness, Self Exploration, Relational Awareness, Society + Culture, Empowerment, Family Dynamics, Inner Work, Yoga Philosophy

Join Empowered Connection host Daniel Damodar Cordua for this shorter, solo podcast and explore a simple, yet profound premise that will teach you how to see yourself, your patterns, and your relationships more deeply, more fully and more comprehensively.

In the stories of yoga, the divine entities Shiva & Durga both carry tridents.  These tridents are viewed as having various metaphors -  one insightful metaphor is that the three prongs of the trident represent the three levels - or ways - that we can understand ourselves -  personal karma, our relational karma and our karma in connection to the larger time in history we are part of.

In this episode, Daniel Damodar will explore this metaphor and how it allows us to see our lives in three profound ways: intra-pyschically, interpersonally, societally

Listen to the end and gain practical tools from this framework that will help you understand yourself, your life, your relationships, and your connection to all more deeply and profoundly.

    That, and much more...

It's been a while since we've reviewed a film after 2000. Y Tu Mamá También has been on my list and it's the perfect film for this summer heat and the spirit of adventure and exploration.

Me and Jai had a great time diving into this world that neither one of us have visited in quite a while. Directed by Alfonso Cuarón who takes you on a short but fulfilling journey that leaves you questioning and reminiscing about your own similar experiences.

We found a lot of behind the scenes info, drool over Gael, and realize just how much we relate to Luisa.

078-3 lies that culture teaches about entrepreneurship, with Emily Copeland

    $ support this podcast $

Sometimes lies of the enemy are difficult to spot because they sound too good to be harmful, but in today’s day and age, there are many beliefs we hear around us that we think are true. Yet, when we look closer, they are pulling us away from what God is telling us.

Emily Copeland bumped into some lies when she was dealing with a physical issue. Eventually, her journey of healing and self-exploration caused her to write a book about exposing the lie of self-sufficiency.

What she shares is so vital, we think, but judge for yourself!

    What we talked about:

    • 2:20 - the story about how Emily’s eyes were opened about self-sufficiency and how that led her to write the book Starving the Fairytale
    • 6:37 How did Emily deal with being in a space of not knowing what God wanted her to write about and thus not being able to move forward?
    • 9:00 - How was it for Emily to dive into cultural beliefs?
    • 14:25 - 3 lies that culture teaches about entrepreneurship, lie #1
    • 17:35 - lie #2
    • 20:01 - lie #3
    • 24:22 - How to contact Emily and where to find her book
    • 24:40 - Additional information about the book that Emily wanted to share

Embodied Meditation For Everyday Living - Neil McKinlay

Embodied Meditation For Everyday Living - Neil McKinlay

Ep#118  What I’ve found is that the benefits of cultivating a meditative mind extend way beyond the confines of a daily practice.  Over time the experience of meditation can offer a genuine recalibration of how we meet life itself.

Today’s guest, Neil McKinlay has spent his adult life studying and practicing meditation.  But he has also been a parent and partner, author and competitive swim coach. These diverse experiences lend Neil's presentation and passion for the practice of embodied meditation.

Well aware of the challenges and opportunities a full contemporary life poses for meditation practice, Neil speaks to the realities of both with candor and inspiration.

In addition to offering in-person instruction in Victoria, BC, Neil leads two online communities (The Living Meditation Network and The Online Gatherings), where people can find support and encouragement, inspiration and empowerment in a community of practitioners.  He also hosts the Bringing Meditation to Life podcast.  Neil's expertise is guiding individuals who want to integrate meditation more seamlessly into their everyday lives.

    Sacred Rage: Rachel Puckett

    Sacred Rage: Rachel Puckett

Rachel Puckett is a lifestyle and wedding photographer residing in Columbus, Ohio, who has dreams bigger than her body can handle at the moment. When her 7th grade Biology teacher enthusiastically insisted the students were all scientists, her eyes lit up and she received the title in earnest and has looked at the world with curiosity and a hunger to understand ever since. Her love of writing and photography take root from the lineage of irreverent storytellers she comes from and she finds inspiration from artists who speak to the whole experience of humanity, rather than the blind sugar-coating that just scratches the surface of living. After spending the first 30 years of her life as a witness to the inner workings and intricacies, she’s now embracing her voice, however shaky and ill-equipped, to embody the richness of life and call to others who are seeking the same, knowing that intuition and communal suffering hold the treasures we seek.

Of creativity Eric says, “Where do I go from here? Well, as I continue to get older, I feel like the pursuit of meaning and truth becomes more urgent. I’m increasingly coming to peace with the idea that I will never get to the inner-core, but that the journey can be beautiful all the same. I continue to pursue truth and meaning through spiritual practices, community, art, literature, logic, philosophy, reflection and love. I’m always looking for opportunities to establish those deeper connections that I crave, and WWKC has provided me with an ideal outlet for my unique combination of pathos and yearning.”
