Sleep. It's one of the key factors that determines how we feel and perform. And let me tell you- and I learned the hard way- I do not skimp on my sleep any more!

In this short episode, I talk about how and why I track my sleep, the function of sleep, and how you can optimize your sleep and feel your best. I leave you with some tips that you can put into action today.

I definitely want to minimize the number of nights I find myself awake at 3 am, and I have learned what steps to take to so that my body functions how I want it to. You can, too! It may not always be the advice we want to hear (I love a glass of wine with dinner!) but you will thank yourself when you wake up refreshed at the proper time in the morning.

Imagine hearing the words; 'You have 3 months to live.'  These were the words told to Justine Whitchurch over 10 years ago.

Justine is a personal trainer, author, model and motivational speaker.  Having experienced a near-death alcohol addiction, Justine now lives her life with health and fitness as the core foundation. 

Breeza and Maso have been following Justine on Instagram for a while now, and she looks as good over zoom as she does on the gram.  Justine is a picture of health! As you will learn in this chat, Justine's health hasn't always been this good.  Justine's drinking started out as fun, then alcohol became her medication.  She compromised her health with her drinking and also compromised her role as a mum from the grip that alcohol had on her.  But as Justine says, she was one of the lucky ones with a supportive family around her she was able to go to rehab and still be with her children.

Exercise played an enormous role in her recovery, and still does.   Her purpose now is to pay forward the gift that sobriety and healthy living gave her through her ‘Fearful to Fierce’ program.  She is also an advocate for embracing the ‘age is no barrier’ principle and continues to demonstrate this through her love of fashion and modeling.

We had overwhelming feedback about our episode with Anthony Hammond (ep 67).  Something struck a cord in each and every one of you.  A few days after the ep drop we were contacted by his wife Jo.  Jo wanted to share her side of the story.

This is a powerful chat with a strong woman.  A woman who went on the rollercoaster of addiction with her husband, to support him, to protect her sons, and to keep everything together.  As Jo explains, being the supportive wife of an alcoholic is a lonely place.  There is so much shame, anger, resentment, exhaustion, and worry that comes with it.

According to the experts, Jo did everything wrong, she gave Anthony ultimatums - 'stop drinking, or you won't see your family again,' in her words, she was a bitch to him.  But ultimately she had love and hope for the man she married.

We know Jo's story will give hope to those who are suffering in silence and playing the support role of a loved one in active addiction.
