Joe is a proud Wiradjuri, 1st Nations Aboriginal man born in Cowra, raised in Wagga NSW.   Joe played in the National Rugby League for South Sydney Rabbitohs, Penrith Panthers and Canterbury Bulldogs before switching to professional Boxing in 2009.

His drinking and illegal drug-taking helped him escape and numb, but things got out of control.  A conversation with a mate on a bus changed everything for Joe.  He walked into AA, and put down the bottle and illegal drugs.  Joe has been sober for 17 years.

In 2009 Joe was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder, hearing those words made sense to him.  After a suicide attempt in 2012, Joe felt his purpose was to help people who struggle with mental illness.   

Now a published author, Joe’s autobiography ‘Defying The Enemy Within’ shares not only his life’s story but offer’s practical tools anyone can implement into their lives to improve and maintain their emotional wellbeing.   He does a lot of work in the trauma space and is always prepared to have the 'uncomfortable' conversations that most of us dodge, he certainly went there in this chat.

Breeza and Maso are back in the hot seat with their first recording back from holidays.

Vika Bull OAM is Australian music royalty, she is one half of the sister duo Vika and Linda Bull.  Vika spent years living a rockin' roll life style, which included booze, and lots of partying.   On Jan 28th 2022 Vika put down the bottle for one last time.

In this episode Vika shares with Breeza and Maso her drinking journey, her why of drinking and quitting, her regrets, and what life was like when she was drinking.  She speaks very openly and honestly about things she has done while drinking that she isn't proud of, and how ultimately her behaviour when drinking came between her and her sister Linda.

But it's far from doom and gloom for Vika Bull, in fact, she is just getting started.  Age is no barrier for Vika, she adores performing on stage sober and has found that she is experiencing and enjoying new experiences when performing at gigs and festivals.   Her voice has improved (the girls didn't think this was even possible), and she looks and feels so fresh!  Vika is so excited for what the future holds, Breeza and Maso will be fan girling hard in the crowd watching her at Red Hot Summer Tour in Feb.

Broken bones, blackouts, and bottles of tequila were the norm for Scotty.  During the lockdown in Melbourne, solo drinking became a regular activity for him.  Alcohol was his friend.....and enemy.

When you’ve had a long, hard day juggling all the demands and responsibilities of your life, what do you do to relax?

Do you collapse onto the sofa, breathe a huge sigh of relief and pour yourself a ‘well-deserved’ glass of wine? Or perhaps one glass turns into several and before you know it, you’ve drained the bottle completely. 

Maybe you’re just the type of person who loves to enjoy a drink or two with friends or family. But soon find that you’ve had too much and struggle with a hangover or brain fog for days afterwards.

Even if you’re not out drinking binge drinking in the clubs or don’t consider yourself an alcoholic, you may have fallen prey to our ‘wine o’clock’ culture and find yourself relying on alcohol far more than you should.

It doesn’t have to be this way. If we give ourselves permission to break free of societal pressures, prioritise our wellness and acknowledge, accept and work through our difficult emotions, we can break free.

Through everything Fiona has been through (both in and out of the public eye), she is now giving back and helping others.   Addiction affects 1 in 10 people, Fiona wants to change the conversation about addiction and tackle the stigma and misinformation that stops people getting the help they need.

Fiona reads a page from her book, Truths from an Unreliable Witness, it's a beautiful moment and one that Breeza and Maso were very touched by.

What happens when alcohol is removed from your life without you choosing it to be? This very thing happened to Cathy O’Brien 10 years ago.

A health crisis was the tipping point for Cath, her body was rejecting booze.
