019: Dealing with the Pressure of Social Media While Planning Your Wedding

Social media can be extremely valuable. It’s an excellent resource for inspiration from vendors and other couples. But there’s another side to it. As a bride-to-be, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed with pressure to create the most beautiful and over-the-top event anyone has ever seen! Especially with such easy access to popular wedding trends. So for as helpful as social media can be for wedding planning, it can also be disheartening and sometimes mean.

In this episode, we are going to talk about the pressure that can come from social media and how to deal with it. We talk more about:

    • Staying true to yourselves and your personal likes and dislikes
    • Realistically planning within your budget
    • How wedding trends come and go
    • Leaning on the expertise of your vendors
    • Dealing with criticism
    • And so much more!

S4 EP 70: When Is Parental Involvement Too Much, Featuring Dorian Jackson, Executive and Leadership Consultant

S4 EP 70: When Is Parental Involvement Too Much, Featuring Dorian Jackson, Executive and Leadership Consultant

It’s the topic we have been encouraged to discuss by many listeners, as it’s a dilemma we all face as parents.  When does our well intended involvement and support become too much?Guest Dorian Jackson knows a thing or two about this topic, and has become a sought after resource and coach to executives, parents and kids.  Dorian, an executive and leadership consultant,  is also a former athlete/coach and currently father of two professional athletes (MLB and MLS). While he brings a heavy sports parenting lens, our discussion encapsulates all activities and focus areas of our kids.  We get real, real fast, discussing unintended pressure, expectations, unfinished business, along with the added components of social media.  We are a society of very involved parents.  As such, we’ve all had our moments.  This episode will challenge you to self reflect and evaluate whether your involvement is healthy, constructive, truly about what’s best for your child and whether it is setting them up for long term success once their sports, activities and academics are finished.

Is Self Love Overrated? Anxiety Relief!

Is Self Love Overrated? Anxiety Relief!

Is Self Love Overrated? Anxiety Relief!
Today we will be talking about self love and if self love is overrated. Is there too much talk about loving oneself! Is there too much pressure to love yourself?  What if you don't exactly feel that loving towards yourself? Does this increase anxiety? Perhaps self acceptance is the same as self love without the pressure! Instant anxiety relief!
Is it even normal to love yourself or is SELF LOVE a kind of pressure imposed on us by society and  social media? Andy Warhol said that in the future everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes but do we have to be the centre of our own universe.
Maybe if we look outside ourselves and focus on loving others, self love will come naturally!  If you can't accept yourself fully, perhaps accept yourself a little every day as you look outwards helping others!
“If you are always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” – Dr. Maya Angelou
This may be true but once again there is so much pressure on us to be amazing. Perhaps we all are already amazing and we just need to let go and accept that it is Ok to relax and just allow ourselves to be in the moment. What are your thoughts? We would love to hear from you! If you can't accept yourself fully, perhaps accept yourself a little every day as you look outwards helping others.
