    Tips for your winter wedding

    Tips for your winter wedding

    Ho Ho HOOO

    Planning your Winter Wedding:

    • If you’re doing a first look, be prepared to have a dirty train. Do you have a plan to wash the bottom of your train or are you just going to go as is down the aisle…ew (Meaghan’s wedding)
    • Shawl/Stole for the ladies, jackets in between - stay warm when you can.
    • Umbrellas - bring them! For Photos, if you’re ceremony is outside - they block both rain and snow
    • Opt for hair accessories instead of a veil - it won’t get as dirty
    • Daylight - photos - Consider when you’re doing your photos, Time is different in the winter and you lose the sun sooner. 1st look as an option.sunset photos
    • Heartier choices in your menu - hot apple cider, hot toddies, comfort food because people are cold and burning calories to stay warm
    • You’ll need coat racks - nothing worse then bulky jackets on chairs for photos
    • Red. It’s a fav colour for the season. However, be mindful of the type of red you choose, so the vibe isn’t Santa, it’s elegant wedding. If you LIKE the red, go HAM. (Alannah + Manny)
    • Warm up the space with lighting, make it feel cozy - candles EVERYWHERE
    • If you like the Holidays/XMAS, find a venue that already embraces it. It ends up being more affordable in the end because they also have a lot of the decor already out, ex. trees.
    • Having an early dinner isn’t a bad thing, it’s darker earlier anyways
    • Transportation - get the limo. Keep people together, this is not the time to go in individual vehicles

If you plan to have a Wedding Outside

    • It could be raining, it could snowing, it could be mushy out or muddy out (because now the snow has melted)
    • Hand warmers - from the dollar store
    • Something to stand on - Kelly + Tarina’s wedding
    • Make sure you’re guests understand if it’s an outdoor Ceremony - it’s gonna be cold

We give you sound advice on how to prevent this from happening. During the planning process and on the day itself.

Our main item, get some comfy shoes and just accept a waterproof parka jacket, or I like to call it, a sleeping bag with arms. And for the love of God, bring some SNACKS!

WE'RE BACK - What we've learned and how to plan your 2023 wedding

WE'RE BACK - What we've learned and how to plan your 2023 wedding

SO MANY THINGS have changed since we've last graced the air with our internal thoughts and advice

Mainly, we have added a new member, Monsieur Maxime! Kelly welcomed her son and she talks about how being a wedding planner and tackling motherhood. We also bring our team member Shannon, Kellys sister and now Auntie to Mighty Max, on how she had to take on more responsibilities this year and has become a permanent member of the Say planning, decor and admin team.

We go on and share some stories and insight from 2022, but we are here to prepare you for 2023.

    PLANNING YOUR 2023 TIPS

    • Your vendors are booking up incredibly fast.
    • Your vendors are really tired, so it’s taking longer to get back to you
    • The pressure with families is higher then ever to impress all guests at the wedding.
    • You’re guest count will not drop, do not assume there will be a 10% drop, everyone wants to get out and party
    • People have forgotten how to behave in public.
    • You staff costs are going up without a doubt.

    TRENDS FOR 2023

    • Cocktail style wedding and why you need to assign seating even if it's casual.
    • Wedding colours are a mix of 5-8 and not just two or 3.
    • Small to having no wedding party is becoming more popular.

HOW PLANNING CAN BE A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR YOU

    • Hire a wedding planner, duh!
    • Expect you won’t get your first round of picks, have 2-3 you like.
    • Book quickly if you are truly set on a venue or vendor
    • Select and secure your venue first before selecting other vendors
    • Look for the vendor relationships and take their suggestions

WE LOVE YOU! We anticipate more podcasts coming your way for the 2023 season!

    141 - 2023 Wedding Trend Report Summary

    141 - 2023 Wedding Trend Report Summary

2023 wedding trends you need to know

Is it important to know the trends? I think so, knowing what people are wanting/ requesting for their day helps you know how to market yourself.

Imagine all couples were leaning toward bright bold colours for their wedding day that's the wedding trend of the year for colour and your website is covered in pastels! Your couples would think you can't cater for them because you aren't showing them what they want.

And although we say don't judge a book by its cover when you have 20 + suppliers to find and thousands of options, shop windows are going to be the first cull point. Even if you are their ideal supplier they'd never know because you didn't make it past the first cut.

So it's important to look at the wedding trend report to see what's happening and use it to your advantage to market your business.

    In today's Episode:

    • Be gone over filtered photography
    • Hello Viva Magenta bye bye pastels
    • The rise of the experience

Put Your Own Brand Of Uniqueness On Your Wedding Desserts with Larisa Crawley

Put Your Own Brand Of Uniqueness On Your Wedding Desserts with Larisa Crawley

Wanting something other than the traditional wedding cake for your coupling celebration confections! Listen to this episode as our special guest Larisa Crawley of Crawley Creative Confections shares about technology opening a whole new world with 3D printing… and that the sky's the limit for the shapes that can be designed, customized, and printed. Go ahead! We give you permission to put your own brand of uniqueness on your celebratory desserts!

Larisa Crawley is the owner and artist for Crawley Creative Confections. She started the KY registered home bakery in February 2021 as a way to make extra money for her family. By October 2021, the bakery was booming, and Larisa began running Crawley Creative Confections full-time! With over 15 years of art experience, she uses her custom hand iced cookies as an edible canvas! Her love of color and delicious foods make the bakery’s one of a kind French macaron truly a life changing experience! Larisa focuses on providing unmatched customer service with yummy artisan goods that can be customized just for you!

    Timestamps:
    • [02:35] Mike: nowadays, a lot of people are giving cookies as favors at weddings. And I think that's a great idea. Because it's not something you know, it's something that you can take home and eat instead of putting it in a drawer somewhere.
    • [03:20] Larisa: The best thing is it's completely customizable. So I do a lot of graphic design for our company, other bakers, even other individuals. And the best part is that I can literally design a shape on my iPad and print it out in less than three hours.
    • [10:49] Larisa explains the differences between macarons and macaroons.
    • [18:05] Kristina talks about the current wedding trends with cakes and how people are incorporating macarons into their wedding.

    • It’s a special occasion!!

Why is it important to trust the folks helping you on your day?

    • They have years of experience and can navigate if anything goes wrong
    • They will likely have worked with some of your other vendors, which means they can work together in any situation
    • They can address almost any situation as it comes
