    Ep 94 Chlamydia: Double Trouble

    Ep 94 Chlamydia: Double Trouble
With this episode, you’re getting much more than you probably bargained for, thanks to the quirks of Chlamydia trachomatis. This small but mighty bacterium can cause a number of different conditions throughout your body, most notably in your eyes and your genital tract, and the resulting infections, if left untreated, can lead to substantial and permanent damage. In this episode, we focus on the two most common forms of chlamydia infection, trachoma (eyes) and chlamydia (genital tract), and discuss the similar pathway through which this bacterium leads to these distinct diseases. While the biology of trachoma and chlamydia may be similar, the history of these two infections could not be more distinct. Tune in to hear what ancient medical texts have to say about trachoma, how surprisingly recently chlamydia was recognized as an STI, and where we stand with these two incredibly common infections today! E363 Ask Nick - Hallmark Situationship

E363 Ask Nick - Hallmark Situationship

Today we are back with your questions on another edition of Ask Nick. We begin with a caller who’s love life has turned into a real life Hallmark movie. Should she date the buttoned up finance guy and charity donor who lives in her city? Or should she head back to her roots to pursue romance with an old hometown flame, who is comfortable and familiar, but has a bit of a bad boy image? Next, we are joined by a caller who is navigating a potential relationship with someone with an STI. She really likes him (and is normally very picky so that really means something) but she has never dated someone with an STI so she doesn’t know exactly how to manage the risk. Lastly, we speak with someone who has recently found out that her ex’s friends have been mocking her and her social media and potentially disrupting her future dating life. We then learn she works with some of these friends, so she’s wondering how to go about blocking them, and how she can move on from feeling “crazy” after the break-up.

“Your ex has a groupchat with his friends where they share your TikToks and your snapchats and talk about them.”

Communication is Lubrication: Scripts For Your Sex Life
On today’s show, Emily demonstrates her top mantra: communication is lubrication. Emily compiled a list of the most popular questions she gets asked from listeners and teaches communication skills those sticky situations. If communication is a tough subject for you, don’t worry, she give you a script for that. Subjects include: How do I talk about anal sex?, How do I talk about erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation?”Emily shares the most effective ways to ask for more oral sex and encourages women to be open (and honest) about their orgasms. So, what do you do if your partner doesn’t want to go down on you? How do you ask a new partner about STIs? And, of course, how do you stay out of the dreaded “friend zone?” Emily explains why you need to approach these touchy situations and how to do it right.   Emily’s panel of female truth-tellers today include her assistant Lauren and her intern Carolyn. The women discuss common issues women deal with during sex, but don’t ever talk about. Both women share the truth about their own romantic lives.
