Reconciled and made holy, without blemish, and free from accusation.

Colossians 1:21-23... 21 Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22 But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation—23 if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

The One About Not Needing a Savior

The One About Not Needing a Savior
What if there’s nothing wrong with me? What do you think about that, Jesus?! Jim & Jay open up about how some of their Christian experiences encouraged self-hatred, preyed on weakness, and normalized male privilege. Jim also explains why he started shutting down his emotions, and how a Catholic monk turned him into a Buddhist. Plus, the guys chat about the early days of HBO and MTV, the loss of the original Star Wars lasers, and the question: is it still an 80s song if you didn’t hear it until the 90s?

Willing to take the Blame - Audio

Willing to take the Blame - Audio
How far are you willing to go to keep your sin? It’s a saddening thought, but how long will you hold on to it? Who has to face the consequences of your choices? Who needs to hurt? What do you need face? What things need to be said? Saul's sin is coming full force it seems, as he's willing to annihilate an entire city of the Lord's priests. And David is audacious enough to take the blame for it!

    Flee the Wrath - Audio

    Flee the Wrath - Audio
Jesus had just finished praying, “Take this cup from Me.” But the cup is now tipping. Wrath is coming. The sins of the world had been committed, and it was payment time. "Then everyone deserted Him and fled!" He was alone to face to the cup! He must be alone! This is where in the physical sense – sure it is sad. The Disciples are to be blamed. They left their Lord alone in His darkest hour! It shouldn’t have been. But spiritually speaking, is must have been. Christ must do this alone! Everyone must desert Him and flee!

    3-11 Cushioned by Principles

    3-11 Cushioned by Principles

Going beyond the theology of the cross, Steve embraces the crucifixion as an experience over a concept. He discusses the cross as it relates to the incarnation and what was happening to Jesus on the cross. Considering the presence of Christ on the cross and what it means for us, Steve ponders questions about why the cross was necessary.

Strangers & Saints (Ephesians 2:11-22) [Rod Ohmes] - Audio

Strangers & Saints (Ephesians 2:11-22) [Rod Ohmes] - Audio
Let's recap what Paul has been telling the Christians in Ephesus: - You were dead – now you’re alive. [v.2&5] - You were children of wrath – now you’re His workmanship. [v.3&10] - You were following this world, slaves to Satan – now you’re saturated in grace. [v.2&7] - You were once living for yourselves – now you have divine purpose (good works). [v.3&10] And now Paul adds: - You used to be separated from God’s people – now you are members of the same family. [v.12&19] - You used to have no access to God – now you have it because of Jesus Christ. [v.12&18] - You used to be strangers – now you are saints. [v.12&19] God accomplished all of this by the blood of Christ and through the cross. [v.13&16] Christ’s substitutionary atonement crushed/removed the separation between a holy God & sinful man. What does the blood of Jesus Christ do? What did the cross accomplish? - those who were far off have been brought near [v.13&17] - the blood & cross have eliminated the hostility between us & God brought peace [v.14&16] - they have removed the requirements of the law [v.15] - they have united the covenant people of God (Israel) with those outside (Gentiles) [v.15&16] - they have given both Jews & Gentiles access to the Father, through the Spirit [v.18] - they have given outsiders a seat at the table [v.19] - they have integrated individuals into God’s family (household) [v.19-22] Jesus’ blood on the cross has an effect on God, but it also has an effect on His people, too. We are brought near to the Father and we are brought near to one another. It’s vertical and it’s horizontal. Anyone who believes is made a citizen of heaven, but not just a citizen; now we're family. Previously, the Gentiles wouldn’t have even been allowed inside the Jewish temple, but now they are actually a part of it! Previously, you were not allowed into God’s presence because of your sin. But because of Christ, you are not only allowed into God’s presence, you are His child!

    Exploring our Faith

    Exploring our Faith

Responses to questions were offered by our pastor Mitchell Anderson.

At 4:09 Our first question is: Why do we say that Christ died on the Cross for the expiation of sins?

At 11:20, our second question is: How does Christ as “the one perfect sacrifice” relate to the other great religions who do not recognise him as their salvation?

At 18:10 our third question is: Where did Jesus go after he rose from the dead? There were a few sightings after his crucifixion and then no further sightings.

At 20:57 our fourth question is: Why do we allow a minister who does not believe in God or Jesus to remain an active approved minister? Does it matter what we say we believe in our United Church of Canada doctrine?

The Morality Ladder — Communion Weekend - Do the Work

The Morality Ladder — Communion Weekend - Do the Work

There’s a myth out there that says you have to have it all together to be a follower of Jesus, but the truth is just the opposite: following Jesus isn’t about being perfect, it’s about being on the right side of the atonement plan. Jesus came to pay for our imperfections so we don’t have to—and close the gap between what we deserve and what we receive.
