    89 - Borrow Their Belief

    89 - Borrow Their Belief

In this episode, Cindy Esliger addresses one of the most essential components for achieving our dreams: believing in ourselves. It’s a far easier thing to say than do, however, especially when we’re just getting started. But other people do believe in us and Cindy’s advice is to borrow the belief others have to combat our own self-doubt.

Borrowing the belief others have in us means focusing on the support we receive from those who know us best. Surrounding ourselves with people who see our potential can counteract our feelings of inadequacy and imposter syndrome. The goal is to foster our own sense of self-awareness, Cindy says, and to use that as a stepping stone for reliance on our own skills.

Cindy shares three tips for borrowing the belief others have in us: 1. Recognize and accept positive feedback, 2. Use positive affirmations, and 3. Take action. She explains how to identify the people who genuinely support us, elicit their feedback, and ways to internalize their beliefs and build confidence in ourselves. Cindy lays this path out in six steps, directing us to act on self-confidence and avoid pitfalls as we do. This episode is key to cultivating the self-belief we need to realize career success.

    46. The Power of Community - Who You Surround Yourself With Influences Your Success

Don't make the same mistake I made in underestimating the power of community. When I first started my self development brand, I attempted to do it alone, for two years! It's no wonder that I kept hitting wall after wall and could not move forward like others were doing.

Last year I decided that I was prioritizing building a solid foundation and I knew that this was through finding aligned communities to join and also building a sense of community. I'm happy and thankful to say that joining community containers with people who have similar aspirations and mindsets to mine has helped me in IMMENSE ways. It put amazing people on my path that I would not have otherwise met. It helped me heal and grow, not only personally but also in my business.

40 - The Stewing is Worse than the Doing

40 - The Stewing is Worse than the Doing

Cindy Esliger examines the inescapable nature of fear and how confronting and transforming it is the only way forward. Everyone feels fear, but successful people simply refuse to let it prevent them from doing what they want to do. So Cindy unpacks some ways to start managing our fear.

Fear is essentially our body’s way of signaling that we’re venturing outside our comfort zone. It alerts us to potential danger so we can escape it, but many threats that arouse our fears today are not actually life-threatening. So when the fear rises, how do we reframe it? Cindy has five points for us to remember: 1. Trying new things is scary, 2. Fear isn’t going away, 3. After doing things repeatedly, the fear lessens, 4. Making things happen feels good, and 5. The stewing is worse than the doing.

What Cindy offers in this episode is a way to acknowledge that fear is something we always have in our lives but that it doesn’t necessarily mean we should not do something. She guides us through assessing our fears and pushing through them if they’re not actually signaling us about danger. Trying new things will always be scary but accepting the fear and doing the thing anyway leads to greater reward.
