VYS0032 | O Buddha, Where Art Thou? - Vayse to Face with Roger Jayamanne

VYS0032 | O Buddha, Where Art Thou? - Vayse to Face with Roger Jayamanne
Bringing a much needed calming zen influence to the Vayse Institute of Over Thinking and Catastrophic Worry, Hine and Buckley welcome therapist and former Tibetan Buddhist monk, Roger Jayamanne to the podcast. Roger leads Hine and Buckley through a quest which is thousands of years and many life cycles old as they discuss his life within the tradition of Tibetan Buddhism and what it actually teaches: was the Buddha a real person? Is life just sorrow and suffering? What is the Tao?... and he divulges some of the weirder, reality-defying experiences he has had on his travels including mind reading, a monk's arm stretching to six feet long and a lama summoning a parliament of owls as a spiritual escort to Edinburgh Airport... (recorded 13 November 2023) Thanks to Roger for putting up with our frenzied anxiety and thanks as always to Keith for the show notes. Daoism (Taoism) with Frederick Tsao

    Daoism (Taoism) with Frederick Tsao

Today on “Dawn of an Era of Well-Being: The Podcast” we have a special episode featuring our co-host Frederick Tsao sharing some of his extensive knowledge of the ancient Chinese spiritual tradition of Daoism. The body of today’s episode was recorded on May 14, 2022 for the New Paradigm of Sentience and Consciousness Global Symposium which was presented by Laszlo Institute of New Paradigm Research.

Frederick Tsao, is fourth-generation family steward of IMC Group. Assuming chairmanship in 1995, he successfully transformed a shipping business to an industrial supply chain. With more than 40 years’ experience as an entrepreneur, Fred has worked successfully with business partners and governments in multiple markets across diverse cultures.

A visionary entrepreneur, Fred believes east-west integration is imminent, as the well-being and happiness economy arises. Born in the east and educated in the west, Fred is uniquely positioned to bridge this integration. As Chair of Family Business Network International, Council of Wisdom, Fred promotes family business reform, to rise to this challenge.

Fred has initiated research that has led to the publication of over 30 Chinese books. He has co-authored two English books, including the Dawn of the Era of Well-being with our co-host Ervin Laszlo. In his latest work, One Choice, One World, published in June 2023, he paints a picture of the new world order of narrative economics that serves well-being of life.

Fred also takes a deep interest in the Chinese spiritual tradition of Daoism, of which he has an extensive knowledge, and which profoundly informs him in his daily life and work.

Daoism is an ancient spiritual practice native to China but its origins date back to prehistoric times. It stresses our finding and living in alignment with the DAO which is roughly translated into English as the “Way” or the “Road”. It shares characteristics of both a philosophy and a religion.

Buddy C. is an author, businessman, father, podcaster, and a spiritual seeker since his early teens. Buddy made remarkable spiritual progress when he started questioning his belief systems when they did not help with his alcohol addiction. Through 12 Step recovery and open-mindedness to spiritual ideas outside of his comfort zone, Buddy has been sober for over 12 years as of this writing.
Buddy recently wrote the award-winning book, Powerless But Not Helpless, a recovery interpretation of the Tao Te Ching.  A book that helps bridge the gap between a Power Greater than ourselves and the door knob.

Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented so many fellowships, addictions, and afflictions.  And we look forward to continuing to add to the diversity of speakers and backgrounds.

Animal Therapy, Emptiness in a Taoist Light, and Medicine Without Coincidence

Animal Therapy, Emptiness in a Taoist Light, and Medicine Without Coincidence

Animals bring out the best in us!--and sometimes a bit of everything from laughter as we see my parents' non-compromise on getting me a dog during my childhood as well as the terror of seeing two clever pets land themselves in situations fraught with danger they couldn't possibly have understood--or could they have?

Among more poems from the turn of the new year, one in particular catches Karrie's attention and draws us into deeper conversation about the difference between the usual Western connotation of emptiness and its definition in the Tao Te Ching.

The interpretation of signs makes another visit as I take a look at the many things that I gathered to me over the years and the "hidden" (obvious, if you know what you're looking for) messages they tried to convey.

Taoism + Your Untapped Potential - Episode 43

Taoism + Your Untapped Potential - Episode 43

We love having conversations with people that can help all of us unlock our hidden potential because isn’t that the goal of this lifetime - to live our highest potential?

And how cool is it when someone is able to put a modern spin on ancient wisdom?! Tisha Morris does just that in her latest book, "Missing Element, Hidden Strength."

While all five Chinese elements, water, wood, fire, earth, and metal, are contained within our energy system, we each embody a primary element, which defines our natural strengths, and a weak or missing element, which reflects our untapped potential.

When you embrace your missing element―water, wood, fire, earth, or metal―you can pull yourself out of a rut and bring more harmony and success into your life and work. Moving your desk to the power position and expressing your energy with clothing are just a couple of the ways to awaken dormant aspects of yourself and integrate your creative right-brain with your business left-brain.

Wisdom of the Mystics: Lao Tzu

Wisdom of the Mystics: Lao Tzu

In this episode, The Bearded Mystic Podcast discusses the wisdom of the Chinese Sage Lao Tzu.  I go through the first two verses of the Tao Te Ching that are attributed to Lao Tzu.

Lao Tzu was a Chinese philosopher credited with founding the philosophical system of Taoism. He is best known as the author of the Laozi (later retitled the Tao-Te-Ching translated as “The Way of Virtue” or “The Classic of the Way and Virtue”) the work which exemplifies his thought.

The name by which he is known is not a personal name but an honorific title meaning 'Old Man' or 'Old Master' and the debate continues as to whether an individual by that name ever existed or whether Lao Tzu is an amalgam of many different philosophers.

Day 43: Humble yourself and see what God has to Offer.

Day 43: Humble yourself and see what God has to Offer.

I want to talk about humility as I have been getting advise as a lot of us get advise from others to humble ourselves. But what is it?  What do they mean by humility?

The meaning of humility according to the dictionary is the quality of having a modest or low view of one’s importance, and when stated in that way, some of us view it as a negative characteristic. I think this is mainly because of what we have been taught about the importance of high self confidence and self esteem. This then sounds contrary to what we know. Let me tell you a story of a woman who was forced to humble herself quickly and then look at my perceived importance of humility.

The Tao That Can Be Told Is Not The Eternal Tao w/ Romus Gobson

What's up to my perspicacious pelicans and crafty kookaburras!

Welcome back the BNP and thank you for joining! To my patrons: you all are the blended blueberries in my cashew milk yoghurt, I appreciate you! And thanks for all the flavor and color!

This week's episode is a fun and wild ride into the heady world of Taoism. Taoism is a way of life, attributed to Lao Tzu (c. 500 BC), that emphasizes doing what is natural and "going with the flow" in accordance with the Tao (or Dao), a cosmic force which flows through all things.

"Taoism is the way of man's cooperation with the course or trend of the natural world, whose principles we discover in the flow patterns of water, gas, an fire, which are subsequently memorialized or sculptured in those of stone and wood, and, later, in many forms of human art."    - Alan Watts

Also included in this week's episode is the latest audio from Barbarian Yak Fest, the BNP's new video show (available on Rumble here). Joining for the BYF is the fantastical Romus Gobson, a great friend and stellar gentleman. We chat about all sorts of stuff, including what it was like living in the Bay Area during the bonkers Covid restrictions, as well as the nature of existence and the soul. You know, another light chat here in the Barbarian Lair.

Also included in the ep is a solo discussion of the Spiritual Adversary (that dark force which directly causes unnecessary suffering) here on Earth, and how to transcend and defeat it.

The Tao Te Ching: Insight for a Stressed Out World with Jessie Kanzer

The Tao Te Ching: Insight for a Stressed Out World with Jessie Kanzer

Today on Yoga Magic, Ashley sits down with author Jessie Kanzer to discuss her new book Don't Just Sit There, DO NOTHING: Healing, Chilling and Living with the Tao Te Ching.  Jessie is a descendent of Holocaust survivors and a refugee of the the Soviet Union. She came to the US as a young girl only speaking Russian. As she got older, her childhood trauma manifested into an eating disorder, depression and anxiety and it was at one of her lowest moments, while lying on her bedroom floor, that she looked over and saw a small book. That book happened to be the Tao Te Ching. With the help of the Tao Te Ching she rediscovered herself and her innate power, and she learned to chill. Her book, Don’t Just Sit There, DO NOTHING, will help others do the same.

In Jessie’s book, she uses the Tao to outline 47 different shifts, mind shifts, and practices that we can utilize to come back to ourselves. It’s an inspiring and practical read!

In this episode we talk through:

    • Awareness of leaky energy
    • Connection with intuition and the higher self through stillness
    • How she manifested her book deal with a butt dial!
    • Energetic and personal boundaries to allow energy and stamina to turn inward
    • How to tune out the noise!

    Inspired in 60 Seconds!

    Inspired in 60 Seconds!

In a hurry? Running behind? Got up late? There's a lot of reasons we give ourselves as to why we don't have time in the morning to get inspired. However, just as breakfast is the most important meal of the day (at least until lunch time), getting fueled up with inspiration in the morning is essential if we want to live our dreams and be the difference. (It's all about energy you know!)

In this episode of the Dream Highway Podcast I give a couple of examples of how you can get inspired in just 60 seconds. I read from James Allen's book As a Man Thinketh as well as the Tao Te Ching. Fascinating stuff! And, this episode is totally unscripted and impromptu. You won't want to miss the magic unfolding!

And one of the questions that I had was if you could differentiate fulfillment and success, and I think they often get confused in our society and how we measure them and experience.

    00:01:49 Claudine Chiarmonte

    So just curious.

    00:01:50 Michael DeSanti

    Absolutely I.

    00:01:52 Michael DeSanti

    I think the most important.

    00:01:55 Michael DeSanti

Initial piece is to distinguish what I call domain.

    00:01:59 Michael DeSanti

Domains are areas in life that require love and attention, so your health is a domain, your family, your relationships, your finances, your career, your leisure life, your spiritual life.

    00:02:14 Michael DeSanti

These are all domains, they require love and attention.

    00:02:18 Michael DeSanti

    And success to distinguish success.

    00:02:21 Michael DeSanti

Success is an achievement in a particular domain of life, so it's I've achieved something in my health or in my career and finances.

    00:02:31 Michael DeSanti

    I've achieved something.

    00:02:32 Michael DeSanti

I've accomplished something in a specific domain in life.

    00:02:37 Michael DeSanti

Fulfillment the way I distinguish fulfillment is that we're all of my domains in life.

    00:02:43 Michael DeSanti

Receive the appropriate amount of love and attention so that my health gets the appropriate amount of love and attention.

    00:02:50 Michael DeSanti

My career and finances get gets the appropriate amount of love and attention.

    00:02:53 Michael DeSanti

My marriage gets the appropriate amount of love and attention.

    00:02:56 Michael DeSanti

Health my leisure life the things I love doing, my hobbies, my passions, that they all get the appropriate amount of love and attention.
