¡Bienvenidos a nuestra segunda temporada, Crononautas!

Empezamos nuestro segundo ejercicio podcastil hablando de una de las mejores películas de terror españolas, un film que se ganó un hueco en la historia del género gracias a sus innovadores recursos y formato cómo es [REC] (2007). Además lo hacemos con el inmenso lujo de poder contar con uno de sus dos directores, Jaume Balagueró, para una entrevista en la que repasamos su carrera cinematográfica, los entresijos de la industria cinematográfica española, y hablamos de las experiencias vividas junto a su amigo Paco Plaza al co-dirigir este largometraje.

Manuela Velasco encabeza un plantel lleno de caras poco conocidas pero que brillan en conjunto y nos meten de lleno en una historia que se vive cómo si estuvieses dentro de la pantalla. Un mérito compartido con una original forma de rodar la película de la que es protagonista Pablo Rosso, operador de cámara y cinematógrafo.

De todo esto y muchas otras curiosidades hablaremos en dos primeros bloques libres de spoilers, hasta culminar con el escena a escena en el tercer y último bloque. Cerramos el programa estrenando sección con CronoCine Entertainment.

Mike Velasco joins Tim Keirnan for a critique of the Milwaukee 13" Jobsite Work Box. This tool box is oriented vertically in contrast with conventional tool box designs, which provides both advantages and disadvantages. While Mike enjoys the design and uses his tool box regularly, Tim has not been as impressed despite the numerous positives of the product's design and construction. This is why we do the show! Good designs of even "simple" products like a tool box cannot always please every user; people are so different.

Note that product photography usually involves very bright lighting, and in this case Tim was not expecting the interior to be as dark as  the product photos appeared. The photo on the Design Critique blog page is not using a flash for a more accurate representation of what a user sees when looking into the box for tools along the bottom.

Jesús Velasco, a nonresident scholar at the Mexico Center and the Joe and Teresa Long Endowed Chair in Social Sciences at Tarleton State University, talks about the evolution of the Mexican people’s and the Mexican government’s opinion of its northern neighbor.

My guest this week is Ralph Velasco, founder of PhotoEnrichment Adventures, as well as a travel photography instructor, author and international guide.

Two years ago at PAX East 2015 Justin was wandering the slightly less frigid wasteland of the Boston Convention Center, in search of game developers to talk to. He was not of the media pass holder type of attendee for this event, so easy conversations and networking were beyond his hopes. Then, from across the expo hall he spotted a booth. It was a booth not unlike the others, but what he saw was a knight...and a shovel. 

He ventured closer, daring to see if these fine people had a game of interest to show him. What he spotted was a retro-styled platformer he has long been curious about. But what was this, did his eyes deceive him? Surely that was not the classic Battletoads hanging out with this Shovel Knight? Surely that wasn't Kratos, the God of War, chilling out with the blue armored titan of men?

It was at this point that Justin spotted one Sean Velasco, setting up an interview with the gentleman of Yacht Club Games. One thing led to another, and Constantly Calibrating got on their media list and even received review codes for Shovel Knight. That started Josh's journey towards booking Yacht Club Games for a podcast appearance.

An attempt was made, but they were finishing the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 releases of Shovel Knight.

Another attempt was made, but they were busy developing Plague of Shadows.

Finally, at the start of 2017 a third attempt was made, despite the team working towards the release of Specter of Torment. Which is why we're here!

So join Josh & Justin as they chat with Sean Velasco and Woz of Yacht Club Games about the past, present, and future of Shovel Knight. Perhaps even some discussions about what they may do outside of our favored knight.
