How We Attract God’s Favor Through Our Humility

How We Attract God’s Favor Through Our Humility

On this episode of the Women in Ministry Leadership Podcast, host Julie Cole and guest host, Angela Pruis, sit down with Pastor Lorena Valle, the Southlake Campus Associate Pastor at Gateway Church (Southlake, TX). Lorena is the first female to hold the role, in addition to being a descendant of Guatemala.

Pastor Lorena shares her story of moving to the U.S. as a teenager to pursue her education, to serving in various ministry roles over the years. She recently then stepped into a greater leadership role at Gateway Church as Associate Campus Pastor. Often being the only woman in the room, Pastor Lorena talks about how her trust in the Lord allowed her to move through her roles with greater humility, maintaining a heart to serve others above all else.

While her gender and ethnicity could have been a vice for exclusion, she learned the joy of faithfulness, trusting the Lord with the outcome in every season. God's favor went before her and opened doors that no man can shut.

Tru Team: PART TWO. Joanne - now in a doctoral program.

Tru Team: PART TWO. Joanne - now in a doctoral program.

Joanne has "a wonderful story on how God uses the Internet!" And hers is a wonderful story how she volunteered to help spread the Tru316 Message.

    • She set up the @Tru316 YouTube Channel.
    • She volunteered to write the "BSF style" Study Guides for the chapters in The Eden Book Series.
    • She co-hosted Seasons 6-9 of The Eden Podcast
    • She wrote the Study Guides for Dr. Joy Fleming's foundational book Man and Woman in Biblical Unity, Theology from Genesis 2-3.
    • She is one of the co-hosts on the Interview episodes of Seasons 12-13 of The Eden Podcast

Any wonder that we have named her to receive The Tru316 Medallion Award for the celebrations of 3/16 Day 2024 on March 16 in Minneapolis!

The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. E. Fleming where we “true” the verse of Genesis 3:16. The Tru316 Message is that “God didn’t curse Eve (or Adam) or limit woman in any way.” Once Genesis 3:16 is made clear the other passages on women and men become clear too. You are encouraged to access the episodes of Seasons 1-11 of The Eden Podcast for teaching on the seven key passages on women and men. Are you a reader? Tru Team: PART ONE. Joanne. Church doors were closed to her.

Tru Team: PART ONE. Joanne. Church doors were closed to her.

Joanne Hagemeyer recalls how doors were closed to women for ministry in many ways. "I didn’t have a place in the church but I had a place in this Bible study." (It was Bible study Fellowship where eventually she was a Teaching Leader for many years). She has continued to use her gifts where there was an open door.

Joanne Hagemeyer went on to build up the Tru316 ministry by launching the @Tru316 YouTube Channel, writing the Study Guides for the 4 books in The Eden Book Series and also Dr. Joy Fleming's book, Man and Woman in Biblical Unity - Theology from Genesis 2-3. (You can get copies from Tru316.com/trubooks).

Brandi Wilson - Healing From Divorce

Brandi Wilson - Healing From Divorce
Brandi Wilson is on a mission to help women in ministry lead and thrive in their roles. She shares her story of finding hope and healing from divorce and how her experiences sparked her passion for coaching women who have walked a similar path. She reminds listeners that divorce does not define you or sideline you because no one can take God’s call on your life. Brandi shares her journey from divorce to where she is now and how she learned to voice her needs and ask for help. As she was healing from divorce, it seemed easier to do things on her own, but she realized that it is vitally important to ask people for help when needed. Asking for help takes courage and bravery, but Brandi encourages anyone healing from divorce and facing a future they never anticipated to take things one day at a time. There is no perfect formula for healing from divorce, but looking for the small victories can keep you thankful and focusing on God’s goodness.

Episode 161: A Pastor's Side Hustle with Ruth Hetland

Over the last few years, I started to hear a new phrase one that might be new to you as well: side hustle.  A side hustle is a way to make money in addition to your full-time or part-time job.  It’s also a way to explore a new career.  Side hustles can be a way for folk in lower paying jobs, like, I dunno being a pastor in a congregation, to earn some money and also gain some new skills.  Today we talk to Ruth Hetland, a Lutheran pastor living in Minnesota who started a side hustle to support women in ministry.

Her book was translated into the languages of Pakistan. Encouraged by Loes's writings to follow the calling of Christ, 300 Pakistani women became Pastors of house churches during the pandemic!

    Equipping Women with Taylor Turkington

    Equipping Women with Taylor Turkington

Todd and Andrew welcome back Taylor Turkington to the podcast for a conversation about the necessity of equipping women for ministry. They think through why some complementarian pastors have been hesitant to encourage the women in their churches to get theological training, whether women are better than men at teaching women, and how the church can do a better job encouraging women to be theologically trained.

Taylor is the director of BibleEquipping, an organization that supports women who follow Jesus to study the Bible and teach it to those around them.

Workshop Wednesday - Jamie Hamil - No longer silent

Workshop Wednesday - Jamie Hamil - No longer silent

Jamil Hamil from SE Oklahoma is a student of the Tru School Workshops on Women and Men. Raised in a legalistic and patriarchal church she was restricted from ministry because she was a woman.

Baptized three times she earnestly loved God and sought to love and serve. She did all the crafts with the kids at church. Then she facilitated discussions in the women's ministry. Her insights often made the Bible more real to them.

But her faith tradition prevented her from using her spiritual gifts to serve the Body of Christ. In Book 3 in The Eden Book Series called Back to Eden on 1 Timothy 2-3 we reveal that Paul encouraged women and men to teach and use all of their gifts!

The Extra Point - Episode 83

Viewpoints and stances on certain topics in our faith can cause some questions, but one thing is certain regardless of your stance on this topic... Whether you affirm women in ministry or not, let's have mutual respect and kindness for one another. Pastors Scott and Cheryl sit down to discuss in a little more detail the question asked about scriptural evidence for women pastors and preachers.

Sunday Teachings drop every Monday and new episodes of The Extra Point drop every Wednesday! To hear the Sunday teachings that are discussed for the Extra Point, visit the previously aired episode of The Southridge Church Podcast.

Who was Timothy correcting? Some men and some women.

Who was Timothy correcting? Some men and some women.

Why so much turning in circles? Why so much confusion and disputing on what Paul wrote to Timothy? I believe it is because people have missed Paul's three-part passage in 1 Timothy 1:18-3:16. THIS IS IMPORTANT. It helps make clear that in 1 Timothy 2:11-12 Paul refers the subgroup of wayward women overseers in Ephesus.

"In every place" in 1 Timothy 2:8 is the start of Section 3 where Paul first refers to the wayward overseers who were disrupting the church. We go deeper on this in our zoom Workshops. We offer Fast Class Workshops in our Tru School. Normally priced at $69 for each Workshop, we offer the first one for the special amount of $3.16!
