    Did you know that if you're Celiac, you can still choose from several different brands and flavors of gluten-free pretzels and pasta? You don't need to eliminate pasta or pretzels from your diet! There is an abundance of gluten-free pasta and pretzels on the market. Join us for today's Travel Gluten-free Podcast as we review the best gluten-free pasta and pretzels.

     

    Gluten free Pasta

     

    Barilla gluten free pasta comes in all shapes and sizes. One thing that sets Barilla pasta apart is its fabulous gluten-free lasagna sheets. Banza is another excellent pasta brand made from chickpeas, giving it a good texture. Jovial gluten-free pasta, which is made from rice. Jovial pasta stands out because of the gluten-free egg noodles, a unique product in the market. Lotus Foods makes several different flavors of gluten free ramen noodles.

     

    Annie's is another gluten-free pasta that is rice based and is especially loved for its mac and cheese variety. If you are gluten-free and vegan, Daiya is an excellent alternative to macaroni and cheese. All Daiya products are gluten and dairy-free, making them a safer choice for Celiacs. Amy's Pasta has a gluten-free line to cater to the gluten intolerant. Amy's has excellent gluten-free frozen dinners and gluten free burritos.

     

    Gluten free Pretzels

     

    First on our list is Fitjoy gluten free and grain-free pretzels. Snyder's is another excellent brand that makes pretzels, including minis and pretzel sticks. Glutino is a gluten-free pretzel brand that has been in the market for decades and has improved the quality of its pretzels. If you love sea-salt pretzels, look for Good Health. Finally, snack Factory makes gluten-free pretzel crisps that are crunchy with a nice texture. 

     

    Quinn Snacks has had regular pretzels and now has gluten-free ones. The dark chocolate-filled pretzels and Quinn peanut butter pretzels are incredibly delicious and a must-try. From the Ground Up also makes gluten and grain-free cauliflower pretzels with a fantastic taste. Savor by Suzie also makes gluten-free and grain-free pretzels, including garlic, onion, and spicy flavor.

For a twist on tradition, you might consider the bacon and herb roasted turkey breast from Jelly Toast.

    The festive season is a time of joy and indulgence. For those who live a gluten-free lifestyle, it can often feel like a challenge to fully enjoy the culinary delights that the holiday season has to offer.     I haven’t made all of these recipes yet, but every one is from one of many gluten-free sites that I love and trust. From Apple Cider Margaritas, to Cinnamon Orange Cranberry sauce, to Citrus and Herb Buttered Turkey - there’s something for everyone this episode. And, of course, my favorite part is always the dessert, so you’ll find plenty of sweet options for your table this holiday season.

    Gluten-free Versus Certified Gluten-free

     

    In America, it takes up to six months to pull a product that doesn’t have the correct label off the shelf, so you want to be keen on any product labeled as gluten-free because it might have been processed in a facility that handles wheat. Find out why as a Celiac, you should always go for certified gluten-free products. I will also share the certifications that come with certified gluten-free foods.

     

    Gluten-free Bread Ingredients

     

    Listen in as I share the different non-grain gluten-free flour, usually made from root vegetables or nuts. Gluten-free grain flours are okay for Celiacs so long as they are produced in a facility that doesn’t handle gluten. Find out some amazing grain-based gluten-free flour to bake your bread. 

     

    Additional Ingredients for your Gluten-free Bread

     

    Gluten-free bread tends to be a little drier because they lack gluten. I share the trick I use to make my gluten-free bread moist, plus other ingredients that will make your bread tastier and fluffier whether you are vegan or not. The cruise was a mixed bag of experiences - from kayaking in the sea caves of Corfu, Greece, discovering a dedicated gluten-free gelato shop in Rome, to exploring the history-steeped ruins of Olympia. But it wasn't all smooth sailing. 

     

    Getting Food Poisoning, Food Mislabeling, and getting Cross-Contamination on Celebrity Cruise Line

     

    Along with the highs, there were some serious lows. As a person with food allergies, the lack of transparency and limited options onboard the Celebrity cruise line lead to some challenging times. I'll share my story of dealing with the ship's chefs, my frustrations regarding the limited gluten-free options, and even the case of an unfortunate food poisoning. But don't worry, I didn't let these difficulties dampen my spirit. Instead, they fueled my resolve to help others navigate through similar situations.

     

    Tips and Advice When Traveling with Food Allergies on a Cruise

     

    To conclude this episode, I will share some valuable tips and tricks that can be lifesavers when you travel with food allergies. You'd be surprised to know the potential of powdered chicken broth and electrolyte drink mix! Also, never underestimate the power of carrying a list of your food allergies in several languages.
