    • Accepting help strengthens relationshipsAccepting help can benefit both you and your relationships, and it's important to remember that it's okay to ask for support when needed.

It's important to accept help when it's offered, even in our daily lives when we might not have the same level of support as elite athletes. Kate Cocker, from the Volley network, shared her personal experience of resisting help during a time of need due to a mild COVID case. She was initially hesitant to accept her friend's offer to bring over supplies, but she reminded herself that it's okay to accept help and that it can strengthen relationships. By accepting help, Kate felt loved, supported, and able to help herself get better. So, consider how you can use help in your current situation, and remember that accepting help can benefit both you and your relationships.

    • The Power of Asking for HelpAsking for help builds stronger relationships, creates a positive cycle of support, and allows us to overcome challenges with the help of others.

Being open to receiving help can lead to opportunities to give help as well. Asking for assistance not only benefits us personally but also creates a positive cycle of support and collaboration. By embracing the offer of help, we can build stronger relationships and create a more connected community. Remember, it's okay to ask for help and everyone deserves support at times. In the end, we all have the strength and ability to overcome challenges, but sometimes we just need a little help along the way. So, keep an open mind, be kind to yourself and others, and remember that you have 100% got this! Have a great day!

EP 14: Abusive Relationships Part 2 - Mr. Hollywood

This episode contains sensitive information. We will be using fictitious names for anonymity purposes.

We continue to discuss abusive relationships. I suggest you listen to Episode 13 before continuing. Here I open up about my own experience with an abusive man we will be calling Mr. Hollywood. Abusive comes in many forms and statistics show the best predictor of escalation is your intuition. If you are questioning the nature of your current relationship that alone is a red flag. Don't wait untill the abuse gets worse or you are too emotionally attached to leave.

If you need help escaping an abusive relationship help is available through the National Domestic Violence Hotline 1-800-799-7233.

If you think you might be in an abusive relationship I recommend reading the book Why Does He do That? Inside the Minds of Angry and Controlling man. Also available as an audiobook.

Thank you for listening and I hope this information is helpful to you.
