    Podcast Summary

    • Mistakes in Texting that Hinder RelationshipsBe mindful of texting habits and strive for authentic, effective communication. Avoid playing games or over-relying on texting to keep relationships fresh and engaging.

Effective communication in relationships goes beyond just the words we use, but also how and when we use them. In this podcast clip, Matthew Hussey discusses two common mistakes people make when texting, which can hinder the development of meaningful connections. The first mistake is playing games with texting, such as deliberately waiting to text back to appear busy or important. Hussey advises against this, as it can actually make the other person lose interest. Instead, he suggests using the momentum of the moment to engage in a conversation when it's organic to do so. The second mistake is over-relying on texting as the sole form of communication. According to Hussey, different mediums of communication have an "energy bar," and overusing one can lead to diminishing returns. He encourages experimenting with various forms of communication to keep the relationship fresh and engaging. In essence, the key takeaway is to be mindful of the impact of our texting habits on our relationships and strive for authentic and effective communication.

    • Express versatility in energy in digital relationshipsBeing one-note in energy can make conversations feel stale. Add excitement with pictures, voice memos, and sharing personal stories to build deeper connections.

Effective communication in digital relationships involves mixing up the medium and showcasing versatility in energy. Sending pictures or voice memos can add excitement to text conversations and break the monotony. Being one-note in energy can make conversations feel stale, so try being versatile and expressing different emotions. Lastly, sharing personal stories and revealing who you are beyond your actions is essential for building a deeper connection. By asking thoughtful questions and sharing your thoughts and feelings, you can help others truly get to know you.

    • Being clear and direct in communication builds stronger connectionsClear communication creates authentic connections, avoids ambiguity, and shows confidence and assertiveness.

Being clear and direct in communication is essential for building meaningful connections. During our discussion, we explored the importance of sharing personal stories and being vulnerable, but also the pitfalls of being too passive in relationships. Passive communication can lead to ambiguity and confusion, keeping things from progressing. Instead, it's important to practice gracious impatience, being upfront about what we want, and communicating it in a respectful and assertive way. By doing so, we can create more meaningful and authentic connections with others. Using the example of Monkey and George, we saw how Monkey could shift from being passive to being graciously impatient by expressing her desires and expectations clearly. This approach not only shows confidence and assertiveness but also creates a sense of excitement and potential for the relationship to grow. So, whether it's in personal relationships or in professional settings, being clear and direct in our communication is a powerful tool for building stronger connections and achieving our goals.

    • Building Meaningful Connections through Momentum TextsThe Momentum Texts program, an affordable and practical solution, helps early daters avoid casual relationships and foster growth towards more substantial connections by combining elements of fun and intentionality.

While it's important to maintain a sense of playfulness and fun in relationships, it's equally important to take intentional steps towards building meaningful connections. The speaker emphasized this by introducing Momentum Texts, a practical program designed for those in early dating to avoid casual relationships and instead, foster growth towards more substantial connections. This program is accessible and affordable, costing only $7, and can be found on the website momentumtexts.com. By combining the elements of fun and practicality, the speaker effectively highlighted the importance of both in cultivating successful relationships.

(Rewind): Don’t Avoid Difficult Conversations In Relationships. Do THIS…

(Rewind): Don’t Avoid Difficult Conversations In Relationships. Do THIS…
Sometimes we avoid speaking up about what we really want with a person because we're afraid we will "make waves" in the relationship.

We come from a place of fear and anxiety. "What if me telling him I want something to be different makes him walk away altogether?" we think to ourselves.

So we ignore the conversation and silently suffer.

But then nothing gets better. We just put off the conversation for another day while time keeps moving on.
If this is you, this episode is for you.

(Matt Monday): The Grand Gesture That's Actually a RED FLAG in Early Dating

One of the biggest frustrations about red flags is that they can be filtered out by our rose-colored glasses, only allowing us to see them clearly in hindsight.

But there are ways to appropriately respond to red flags in early dating (if you can spot them), and in this episode, I show you one way to “crack the code” . . .

That is, of course, to always have a North Star.

This week, I walk through what, exactly, a North Star is, why it’s so important to have in order to be successful in dating, and how to choose one . . .
