Michael and The Veil of Secrecy

On today’s podcast I chatted with my friend, Michael Cronin, one of the really good guys.

Michael shares his story and without giving too much of this away in advance, it is all about the pressure of keeping secrets totally to yourself and our limited ability to soak up this pressure.

We had our chat outside at the coffee dock at the back of the Kingsley Hotel, sipping on our coffees and watching the River Lee flow by - please excuse the sounds of outdoor life/

From auctioneering to opening your own Zoo with Brigid Collins

On today’s podcast I chat with Brigid Collins of Ardmore Open Farm and Mini Zoo and Ardmore Glamping Pods.

12 years ago when their auctioneering business had slowed down due to the recession, her husband Denis suggested they start an open farm to hopefully supplement their income.

10 years ago that open farm opened to the public and this extended to a mini zoo gradually as exotic animals were added to the mix.

In 2018 they further expanded the business by installing glamping pods on the site

We chatted about the challenges of opening such an unusual business, the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, the challenging Covid years and how to manage stress in a family business.

Detective Inspector, Mary Doherty and her son Aaron - busy lives, campaigning for people with down syndrome and dealing with the vicarious trauma of the job

On today’s podcast I chatted with the very special Mary Doherty and her equally special son Aaron about her career and their lives together.

A car accident a couple of years ago turned her busy life upside down, leaving her with a broken neck and facing a long recovery period, which she is still in the middle of.
