Does It Hold Up: Coming to America

Does It Hold Up: Coming to America

Happy Wine Wednesday!  We are back with the second edition of our "Does It Hold Up" series in which we explore classic movies from the past and discuss whether or not they hold up under a modern lens.  In this episode, we discuss Coming to America - the original - not to be confused with the sequel.  We take a trip down memory lane and discuss what we loved about the hilarious Eddie Murphy film.  We also examine what themes from the film still ring true today.  Unfortunately, dating has not improved since the film premiered in 1988.  We also revisit our discussion on the sequel in the context of watching the original film.  Finally, we render our ruling - does Coming to America still hold up?  Listen and find out!

Craving more Eddie Murphy-related content?  Check out our episodes on Coming 2 America, Dolemite Is My Name, and our very first Does It Hold Up episode on Trading Places.
