    Welcome to a special reprise on Run with Fitpage! In episode 157, we revisit an insightful conversation with the esteemed Hugh Jones, Race Director of the Tata Mumbai Marathon (TMM). With the upcoming TMM 2024 on Sunday, January 21st, this episode is a timely exploration of the race and Hugh's remarkable journey.

    Hugh Jones, a retired British long-distance runner, boasts a rich legacy in marathon history. Born in London, he clinched victory in the 1982 London Marathon, becoming the first Welshman to do so with an impressive time of 2:09:24. His marathon prowess continued with a notable 12th position in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, clocking 2:13:57. In 1983, Jones secured a close second in the Chicago Marathon and triumphed in the Stockholm Marathon with a record-setting time of 2:11:37.
    Not merely confined to his athletic achievements, Hugh Jones assumed pivotal roles post-retirement. Since 1996, he has served as the Secretary of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). Additionally, he took the helm as the President of the Road Runners Club from 2007 to 2011. Hugh's insights, coupled with the anticipation of the upcoming race, make this episode a must-listen for both seasoned runners and aspiring marathon enthusiasts.

    Danny Boyle and Alex Garland Reunite for '28 Years Later' Sequel in Zombie Franchise
    Director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland are set to collaborate on a sequel to 28 Days Later titled 28 Years Later. The highly anticipated project is poised to be the first instalment in a trilogy, with a reported budget of $75 million for each film. Golden Globe-winning Oppenheimer lead star Cillian Murphy, who starred in the original film, has expressed keen interest in reprising his role, stating that if Alex Garland thinks there’s a good script and if Boyle is involved. The original film, released in 2002, garnered both critical and commercial success, inspiring a sequel, 28 Weeks Later, in 2007. With Boyle directing and Garland writing, the duo aims to recapture the essence of the zombie-apocalypse franchise that left audiences on the edge of their seats.

    Profuz Digital (4:43), the specialist systems integration developer behind bespoke software solutions SubtitleNEXT, NEXT-TT and Profuz LAPIS platforms, will underline how these latest technologies boost quality and efficiency for broadcasters, production and post production at IBC. Shotoku Broadcast Systems (5:14) is heading to Amsterdam with the latest version of its TR-XT Touchscreen control system.

    Dot Group (5:44) will showcase its unique approach to faster data transfers and will demonstrate DataSprint, its solution for broadcast facilities and media supply chains, powered by IBM Aspera. Viaccess-Orca (6:20) will bring to focus the human side of technology to simplify video delivery and monetisation for TV operators and service providers. Newsbridge (6:51) will showcase groundbreaking new features for its patented AI video indexing technology MXT-1.

    manifold technologies (7:23) is introducing manifold CLOUD to the European market. arkona technologies (7:53) will introduce BLADE//runner FLOWS. FLOWS is a built-in tool that makes configuration of BLADE//runner systems a breeze with demonstrations on the stand. Ikegami Electronics (Europe) (8:24) will promote examples from its wide range of broadcast production cameras, controllers and monitors.

    Cobalt Digital (8:53) will present its highly anticipated UltraBlue IP-MV line of IP multiviewers, WAVE RTR 64x64 router line, optimised for 12G SDI, the new Pacific ULL Decoder, and a new 20-slot frame compatible with openGear. Zixi (9:37) will focus on how content creators and distributors can reach worldwide audiences using the Zixi Enabled Network of more than 1,000 media companies and 400 tech partners around the world.

    Clear-Com® (9:59) will showcase the latest advances in IP-based intercom for a wide variety of applications. The Audio Engineering Society (AES), Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS), Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA), European Broadcasting Union (EBU), SMPTE®, and the Video Services Forum (VSF) has announced that the IP Showcase will return to IBC2023 in a brand-new format (10:51). 

    DHD audio (11:40) announces a new addition to its modular range of audio studio equipment and systems. Xytech Systems (12:30) will mark the next phase in the evolution of its Media Operations Platform™ by launching a new mobile-native interface.

Pier59 Studios (3:01) has installed Planar LED solutions in its new virtual production studios in Chelsea Piers, New York City.

    Witbe (3:33) has introduced Smart Navigate, the company’s latest AI-powered algorithm, enabling video service providers to dramatically reduce the time required to script automated tests for set-top boxes and mobile applications. Dalet (3:59) is enabling more efficient creative production workflows with major enhancements to its award-winning, cloud-native Dalet Flex platform.

    CVP (5:48) has furthered its strategic expansion in Europe, setting a new benchmark for customer service and support in the creative industries. Vislink Technologies (6:33), Inc. has announced the availability of its LinkMatrix remote control management platform on Amazon Web Services. Nevion’s (6:56) flagship media orchestration platform, VideoIPath, was used successfully to demonstrate the dynamic prioritisation of live media signals over 5G connectivity in a proof-of-concept during the coronation of King Charles III earlier this year. 

    LiveU (7:24) IP-video EcoSystem solutions are enabling a full cloud production for European League of Football coverage, streaming up to six live games per game day to ELF's digital platform. Clear-Com (7:54) have supplied Virginia-based laser tag company Mission Laser a Clear-Com DX210 Digital Wireless System to communicate effectively with staff and customers. The BCM-300 Deluxe Broadcast Mic Stand has been released by Ultimate Support Systems (8:34).

    Gravity Media (8:57) has detailed new camera technology designed and developed in Australia for the global coverage of this year’s ‘The Hundred’. Magewell (9:29) has announced the immediate availability of Control Hub, the company’s second-generation centralised device and stream management software. AIMS (10:11) API has launched Prompt Search - a new product that allows exploring music catalogues using natural language, phrases, and descriptions instead of traditional keywords and tags.

    ZEISS (10:54) is now offering a new powerful and flexible camera tracking system as part of their CinCraft ecosystem. EditShare® (11:30) has recently provided a large-scale storage network for Directors Cut Films.

    ISE Show 2023 is fast approaching and this week we are reporting on some news previews from a few exhibitors. Magewell has announced the Pro Convert Audio DX multi-format IP audio encoder, decoder, and capture device and Densitron will be featured on the BirdDog stand at ISE where they will showcase the recently announced integration of its acclaimed IDS control system with the full range of BirdDog cameras.

    Clear-Com will be there to showcase a broad range of intercom applications with the company’s diverse portfolio of intercom systems and FSR has announced plans to bring a complement of infrastructure and power products to ISE.

    Kiloview has released a new generation of video encoders known as ‘E3' and will be unveiled for the first time at ISE. The Alliance for IP Media Solutions X (AIMS) will be showcasing its IPMX-based hardware and software working together seamlessly in live demonstrations hosted by AIMS members and IPMX collaborators.

    In other news, Flanders Scientific has unveiled its new OLED monitor and Tedial has successfully completed the AWS Foundational Technical Review (FTR) for its award-winning smartWork NoCode Media Integration platform. Wooden Camera has announced a new collection of custom kits for Panasonic’s GH6 and Quality, a spanish production company, has successfully completed live coverage of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Qualifiers relying on Dejero connectivity solutions. 

    PHABRIX has released the latest update, V4.8, for its acclaimed Qx and QxL rasterizers and Zixi has announced an integration by Spin Digital into its live encoding and playback solutions. The FIBA 3x3 World Tour 2022 Paris Masters has relied on a multicamera OB solution featuring the ATEM Constellation 8K live production switcher from Blackmagic Design. 

    disguise has released Porta 2.1, a significant update to its integrated software solution and Lightware Visual Engineering is strengthening the security profiles of its product range as collaborative applications continue to soar in popularity across the globe.
