How to Become More Confident - Building Confidence

How to Become More Confident - Building Confidence

Confidence plays a big role in your desire to pursue your goals & how you present yourself to others. It’s also a general sense of believing in yourself, but many of us lack confidence in certain areas of our lives or don't feel confident at all. Here are 7 tips on how to become more confident!

    Show Notes:
Genuinely, I used to believe confidence would just come to me someday. I would just, BAM, have it in me, because it appeared to happen this way to others. Other people I knew just seemed to gain confidence overnight or in a moment’s notice when it was needed most & then have it for the foreseeable future. I envied it for years.

And sadly enough, it wasn’t until our daughter was like 4 or 5, so only a decade ago, making me like 26, that I finally realized I had to decide to have confidence, instead of waiting for it to appear like the tooth fairy was going to leave it under my pillow. Even in the things I was really good at, I lacked confidence. And I tell you this because I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels this way. I might be the only one to admit it on the internet, but still. It needs to be shared that it’s ok if this is how you thought about confidence. Or maybe you thought not everyone gets to have confidence. If you didn’t have it from the beginning, you weren’t getting it at all. But that isn’t true, either.

Or maybe you used to have such strong confidence in yourself and it did seem to come naturally, but it felt like someone took it away. And I say this lightly because I don’t believe we can blame others for changes in how we think, believe or decide to be. People in our lives & environments we spend time can, for sure, influence these things, but all the blame can’t be laid here. This doesn’t diminish the effect these things had on you that shook your confidence. It still matters & is important. And experiences like that can be sometimes worse than not ever having confidence because you know what you lost.

It’s also true that you can have confidence in certain things & not in others. Today I’m speaking more on having confidence, in general, but it’s important to note that you can still use these tips I’m going to give you, even if you only lack confidence in certain parts of your life. It should help boost it all because confidence plays a big role in your desire to pursue your goals & how you present yourself to others. It’s also a general sense of believing in yourself. So more of it isn’t an issue.

Here are 7 tips on how to become more confident in your life:

    1. Surround Yourself With Uplifting People (positive people/influences)
    2. Resist the Urge to Compare Yourself to Others (different seasons, different reasons)
    3. Become More Self-Aware (understand your emotions, decisions, reactions, reasons)
    4. Don’t Stop Growing & Learning & Changing (don’t stay stagnant, show yourself you can still be confident in new things)
    5. Accept Your Mistakes & Failures (don’t let these things defeat or define you)
    6. Lean Into What You Are Confident In to Show You the Way (it’s like breadcrumbs)
    7. Live in the Present (don’t worry how this will affect the near future or be reminiscent of the past)

Had an inspirational moment I wanted to share with you from this past weekend coming out of the gym & I did something I always was telling myself that I would do.  I stopped at the Conscious Cafe on Lakeside Blvd. on my way home and I met a great young guy by the name of Adam.  We had a great conversation and I bout a little snack and a cup of coffee from him & I was fired up.  The snack was good and so was the coffee.  Mainly I was fired up since I finally followed through with something I said I was always going to do.  Coming out of the gym - Gary Vee's podcast playing in the car along with another one from Sam Crowley - really got me thinking about how much I've put off in my life for years, things I wanted to do.  So this was the culmination of me finally doing something about it.  We all need to do that with the things we want to do.  Hope this starts you off in a great direction for the week.    Thanks for listening.  Please take a few moments to subscribe & share this with someone, also leave a 5 Star rating on Apple Podcasts and ITunes or other services where you find this show.  Find me on Facebook:  https://www.facebook.com/coachtoexpectsuccess/   on Twitter:  @coachtosuccess   and on Instagram at:  @coachjohndaly  - My YouTube Channel is at: Coach John Daly.   You can also head on over to https://www.coachtoexpectsuccess.com/ and get in touch with me there on my homepage along with checking out my Top Book list too.  Other things there on my site are being worked on – especially my blog page where I am back to blogging now.

Chelsea talks with Mira about growing up in a politically involved family with strong humanitarian values, finding her ‘artivist’ voice at an early age, her experience competing in the Eurovision song contest, and ‘taking the leap of faith towards yourself’.

Currently based in Tel-Aviv, Mira has released two solo albums and collaborated with international artists Noa, Idan Raichel, Andrea Boccelli, Bobby Mc'Ferrin and more. Believing in Yourself Starts With Something Simple (w/Author, Sherry Duquet)

There’s a famous quote by Theodore Roosevelt that says “Believe in yourself and you’re halfway there.” Halfway is a big head start. Imagine starting at the halfway point of a race or even having half of a major project done for you before you dive in.

What if loving yourself was the key to confidence and believing in yourself?  Loving ourselves is not always promoted, but today, we have a guest who teaches us to celebrate self-love, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Listen in as Author Sherry Duquet (who's work includes the best-selling children's book Violet The Hugging Octopus) shares the healthy benefits of lovingly embracing yourself.
