Joel and Chris are joined by author Peter Regan to discuss Big Trouble in Little China! ...and put The Thing into it.

For our 25th episode we look at the third part of the Russell/Carpenter collaboration pentagon. Is this film now underrated, overrated or correctly rated? What is its connection to The Golden Child?  And do you really need to know Jack Burton's backstory?

Chris and Peter also talk about their scriptwriting, and connection to the Dad From Twilight,  and Joel talks about The Raccoons for some reason.

While drinking a double dry hopped IPA with calypso and lemon drop hops and jasmine green tea, I talk about "Big Trouble in Little China" with Chad Newman. We talk about how the film put out expectations for life we did not see once we grew up, how Kurt Russell's been cashing checks off this movie the last 35 years and how Jack Burton is the biggest goof out of all the heroes of the 80s.

Sean and Brad venture off the field for their first review of a non-sports move, 1986's classic Big Trouble In Little China.  Sean's inherent knowledge of this movie is on full display as he provides context to Brad's top five favorite Jack Burton quotes.  Other topics discussed: Jack Burton's wardrobe, why a 2000 year old Chinese man in named David, and more Jack Burton quotes!

Next episode is Brad's pick for the Out of Bounds series, 1989's The "Burbs.

    Big Trouble In Little China

    Big Trouble In Little China

Originally scripted as a western (!?), that's about the only genre that isn't encompassed in John Carpenter's bonkers action adventure/martial arts/horror/comedy masterpiece - so when the lightning's crashing and the thunder's rolling and the rain's comin' down in sheets thick as lead, you just listen to the old Porkchop Express and do what Jack Burton always says: listen to Dark Natter, particularly this episode where Jon and Liam chat about Jon's favourite movie of all time!
