In this episode we are joined by Mark and Raghu from the Mt Diablo Challenge. They are two key principles in putting on this event along with more than 150 volunteers. This is the 40th installment of this Northern California Bay Area Classic event and will take place October 1st. They are expecting to hit max capacity this year with 1000 riders so if you are interested in doing the event you should sign up now. You can register at www.mountdiablochallenge.com Use the code bj40 you will get a discounted rate as a listener of the podcast. Dave and I will be set up at Monte Vista during registration to chat with you all and if you have any guest suggestions for the podcast or feedback that would be great to hear. If you have never climbed Mount Diablo by bike it is truly a tough challenge but a very rewarding one. The climb itself is 11.2 Miles and climbs a total of 3249 feet. It's a tall order for a recreational rider and a great challenge for the most experienced rider. Some will race but most will just ride, additionally there is a great BBQ after the ride where they will dish out some prizes and there will be live music. The great thing about the Mountain Challenge is the road is closed to the public so the only cars on the road will be those in support of the event. It's the best way to ride the mountain! Proceeds from the event go to Save Mount Diablo and the Diablo turnouts project.

OPP Provincial Constable Adam Belanger is the Provincial Bike Coordinator & Tammy Heidbuurt is the Executive Director of New Hope Community Bikes in Hamilton. They join the 10-5 Podcast for our 100th Episode to talk about the James Bay EPIC Fat Bike Ride. The Ontario Provincial Police, Nishnawbe Aski Police, New Hope Community Bikes and Ontario Cycling partnered together to build Youth Bike Programs in five communities along the James Bay Coast.
To raise awareness and funds for the program, five cyclists from across Ontario, a mix of OPP officers and members of the public participated in the James Bay Epic Fat Bike Ride from March 7-9, 2023.
The riders cycled 300 km from Moose Factory to Attawapiskat, on Fat Bikes, to raise awareness and funds for youth cycling education programs and resources to the remote communities of Moose Factory, Moosonee, Fort Albany, Keshechewan and Attawapiskat, along the northwest coast of James Bay.
All of the programs focus on positively engaging, influencing and mentoring youth through cycling and bicycle care.

Pay your self first! We've all heard people make excuses that they don't have money to invest, yet we frequently see these same people out to dinner, with a Starbucks in their hand, wearing the newest clothes, etc. In episode 18 we delve into the concept of reversing typical spending habits. Most people get their paycheck, pay their bills, and spend on expenses. Whatever might be left over at the end of the month - if anything - is what's used for investment. The "pay yourself first" mentality (inspired by Robert Kiyosaki in his book Rich Dad Poor Dad) means you first allocate $$ toward investing and whatever is left over is what you have to budget for bills and expenses. This ensures consistent investment over time and capitalizes on the 8th wonder of the world - compound interest!
This episode also treats our listeners to the origin story of Ben and Jeremy's friendship and a bike ride that got everything started. Enjoy!
Happy Wednesday! This week on She's Not Doing So Well, Bobby, Miz & Jim are feeling very refreshed. Bobby got his hands on a Netflix exclusive preview of the gay reality show featuring Gus Kenworthy as a gay guide to Colton Underwood being filmed now. He also talks about people in his office not knowing how to check after themselves when they go to the bathroom. Miz had a WILD RIDE through central park at 2am after "52 Corona bottles". Jim tells us about aliens which then spins Bobby out of control again. All this and more!
