    My Honest Bschool Review

    I just made my final $239 payment for B-School and I could not be more relieved. Every month I have been dreading having to pay for the program that I haven’t accessed in months and that I have my regrets about signing up for. I tried the B-School experience because I wanted to learn some new marketing techniques and to see if I could improve my business processes. Since I have been online since early 2004, I have experienced a lot of changes in the online world. I was open to learning new strategies and applying some new procedures in my business. B-School is one of the most aggressively marketed online business programs and I was curious to see what it was all about. 

    Although I thought the $2499 tuition price was very expensive, I thought that the marketing training alone would be helpful since Marie Forleo has access to some of the top internet marketers in the industry. 

    I had read a lot of reviews about the program, all of them positive and glowing which made me somewhat suspicious. The old adage, ‘you can’t please everyone’ applies to all businesses and I wondered why I could not find a single negative B-School review. So I did a little digging and it seems that Marie and her team don’t like negative reviews. In fact, they have a clause in their terms and conditions, which you must agree to before signing up for B-School, which specifically prohibits you from posting critical reviews of the program. 

    Really? Aside from violating the US  Constitutionally protected free speech, it also violates the Consumer Review Fairness Act which specifically empowers consumers to provide reviews of products they purchase, positive or negative, and also specifically prohibits sellers from limiting customers’ ability to review their products. 

    So this B-School review is my lawful assessment of my B-School experience and is provided within the terms of the Consumer Review Fairness Act, as well as my expertise in the areas of business, economics, finance, technology, and law, which are all areas I have education, experience, and authority. Any attempt to intimidate, threaten, or harass me for this review will be responded to with civil and criminal prosecution.

    1.  Implement a cash flow plan from the start. You do not have to provide expensive courses, programs, and coaching. In fact, it’s better that you don’t. Instead, focus on high volume, not high prices. You’ll create a better cash flow stream with more consistent and predictable revenues, and you will provide affordable solutions for your customers. It goes against every economic principle to think that there are throngs of people wanting to pay thousands for your programs. It’s fine to have a passion and a vision to ‘help people’ but you are in business to make money and earn a profit. If you do not have your revenue and cash flow as prominent goals you will not make any money in your business.

    2. Start small and build up. Houses are not built from the top down, they are built from the bottom up. Every house starts with a hole in the ground (for a basement) or a concrete slab on the ground. Don’t focus on high prices or high value clients, there are not that many people who will pay you thousands for your solutions.

    3. Do your marketing diligently. Marketing is not sales but marketing leads to sales. While you cannot sell to your audiences all of the time, you do need to promote your products and services regularly. Whether you launch using webinars or live or online events, marketing is an important part of your business.

    4. Stop fearing the competition. There is no competition on the internet. That’s why we focus on building your platform in the GPS Business Academy programs, and not your niche. If you think you are not making as much money as others, don’t be fooled. There are a lot of deceivers out there, not being mean here but it’s the truth. The people who tell you they make millions probably do but what they do not tell you is 80% or more of those millions are spent on advertising. No one ever shares their profit margins. Look at their engagement numbers on their social media sites too. Someone with 5 million followers who only gets 36 comments or likes on a post has paid for their following and their numbers are fake.

    5. be confident in what you know. People will follow you because of a shared experience, relevance, and resonance. They want to know you are authentic and you understand them. When they are in a tough place they don’t care how many millions you make, that’s like telling someone who is thirsty that you just had a glass of water and it was great. Give them the water, let them experience you as a teacher, mentor, and friend. That begins the journey to loyalty, not showing them your million $$ house.

     

    And the most important thing – focus on your cash flow. You cannot manage a business if you are not making money and while everyone likes to teach all about business strategies – like building your list, creating a course, creating different revenue streams, it’s all part of a ‘hit and miss’ strategy that never really addresses the core steps to start a business that reaches an audience and generates revenue on a consistent basis. 

    Authenticity is the name of the game. You are authentic in your story, your experience is your expertise, don’t doubt yourself and no one else will doubt you. Be confident, your story is your ticket to business success, market yourself with clarity and confidence, and focus on cash flow because you are in business to make money.

    5  Ways to Make Your Website Customer Friendly

    A website is essential for today is the first exposure that a potential client or subscriber has to you and to your products and services. So you want their experience to be easy, memorable for its content and not its frustrations (people remember these things – let me share my Ruby Tuesday story), and you want them to return.

    With so many websites on the internet, over 2 billion, there are many people who offer similar products and services and you want your visitors to stay on your website as long as possible.

    The longer they stay on your website the more likely they are to buy (provided you have something to sell and they can find it).

    Here are the 5 ways to make your website easy for customers to use:

    Be intentional in the path you want to take them through your website and provide proper navigation with buttons, links, and clear explanations. Do not leave people hanging on a page and no way to go anywhere with either a top menu or a clickable link to take them back to the home page.
    Note: be careful with re-direct links, those links that take your visitors away from your website. They won’t be able to get back and you may lose them – the internet is a big, busy place. Once they are re-directed to another site they are no longer on your website. Is that what you want them to do?

    Give them clear options to purchase in the content. NEVER say ‘email me to schedule an appointment’. Have you looked at what happens when you click an email link? It opens a browser window and not an email address.
    and use links and scheduling applications to get them to talk to you . If you offer free intro sessions, make them easy to set up. NEVER use email or phone to set up your appointments – waste of time and you will miss appointments. If they are on your website at 2AM and they want to purchase something or connect with you, they need the buttons, links, and tools to be able to do that.

    Do not write too much content in descriptions, you can always write a short sentence and direct them to another page for more. And avoid too much navigation to get information or to purchase. They will get frustrated especially if they arrive at a dead end and cannot get back to your home page or another page on your website.

    Be sure to include information about yourself, write a good ‘about you’ page. You would be surprised how many people read your bio. They want to get to know you. Make your bio focused on your story or how you got started in your business. Be sure to write your ‘hero’s journey’, no one wants to hear a sob story. Let your story be focused on the products and services you provide so you establish relevance and alignment with your audience. This inspires and encourages them to become paying customers.

    Publish your prices – your visitors do not like to have to fill out forms and set an appointment with you (or a sales service) to talk about how great your program is, only to have sticker shock because you are much more than they can afford.
    Price is important and you insult your site visitors if you say it isn’t.
    How many of you own a Ferrari? That’s my point.
    If you are so uncomfortable with your prices that you do not publish them, you should be charging much less.
    As my grandmother said, “if you have to ask the price you cannot afford it.”

    It is very important to ensure that visitors to your website don’t get confused and frustrated because they won’t be back and they will tell everyone about their terrible experience.

    And if you are clear about how you want your website visitors to navigate your website and you make the process easy, clear, and intentional for them, they will spend time on your website, enjoy the content, become a repeat visitor, and refer you to their family and friends.

    Does the word marketing fill you with fear?
    Do you dread the word sales in the same way and get stuck in that process?

    Marketing and sales have been so over hyped and misrepresented in the online industry.
    Let me begin this discussion by advising you that marketing is not sales although marketing is related to sales
    And sales is not marketing although you need some kind of marketing effort to generate the interest required to make a sale.

    Marketing means ‘bringing your goods and services to the attention of the market’
    Think of the market as an audience that you are showcasing your products and services to.

    What do they need to know about your product or service to be interested enough to want to know more
    How do you let them know that their lives are enhanced by your product or service?

    Note: you cannot market to people who have no interest in what you offer, no matter how much marketing you do

    Example: vacations
    5 kinds of vacation venues – all in one, cruises, hotels, adventure trips, camping
    I am not interested in camping so I do not include those in my options
    No matter how wonderful it may sound, I won’t consider camping.

    That’s why information and education are the heart of your marketing. You'll quickly let people who have no interest in your products and services that you are not a good resource for them. And you will know who is and who is not your customer.

    You can use marketing to create an interest when you focus on information and education first, instead of leading with your sales pitch

    Sales is the process of offering goods for sale. Sales are an essential part of your business.

    Your marketing begins the path to the sales form and the purchase process.

    You market with eventual sales in mind but your marketing has to be honest, clean, and clear – no bait and switch. Listen to the example of how I got switched to a $500 per month membership from a $27 digital product (and yes, I demanded and received a refund).

    Marketing is not a one-shot effort, it is a process of informing your audience about who you are and what you offer

    Forget passion – you cannot market your passion but you can market why you are passionate

    Your story is important but it will only appeal to the people who share the story or an interest in it.

    Passion out of control – vegan client who tried to ‘convert’ me

    Think of marketing as information and education, letting potential customers know there is a solution and you have it but first, you need to share that story so you create relevance with them. And once you have done your marketing, providing information and education, they will be ready to buy and you will have a loyal, long term client who will become a repeat buyer and a source of referrals.

    June ended with a strong new moon that set the energy for July and it’s all about karma endings, timeline shifts, and freedom. Not surprisingly, we get this in a month whose theme in the US is independence and freedom.  We get a big dose of freedom this month, whether we are willing to do the release work or not. It’s time for us to get comfortable with transformation and the energy consequences that accompanies our intention for joy, freedom, peace, and love. We enter the month on a path for embodying our self ideation, one of the themes of 2022, and we have the US and global second Pluto return, a more stable and grounded 4 numerology, and a lot of energy supporting July’s themes of freedom, acceptance, karmic booms, and decisions. 

     

    The big theme in July is freedom – freedom from karma, freedom within ourselves, the state of being free and the opportunity to choose freedom. We can always choose freedom and release ourselves from what limits us but we are not always willing to bear the consequences of our actions. Other July energy themes are karmic endings, decisions and acceptance and they are all tied to freedom, the state of being free and having choices for freedom. Pay attention to those nuances because they are important. 

    There is always an option for freedom in any situation – we can simply say no and leave but the decision to have freedom is another matter entirely.

    We want it all – freedom to do what we want, to have great relationships with people who are incapable of having those with us, at least at this time, no guilt and shame, and the validation and acknowledgement of our long standing efforts at healing those in our karmic circles and soul groups.

    But we are asking for the impossible and we now have to choose something else. While nothing is impossible in the Universe, we all have free will and energetic sovereignty, and the ability to choose our path. But no matter how wonderful we think the healing path is, to someone who doesn’t want to heal or to achieve wholeness or congruence, who is happy living in the 3D density of their world, it is not an option they want to consider.

    May 2022 Energy Report

    I always start my May Energy Reports (I have been writing these energy reports since 2008) with a reminder that the month’s name can be both a declarative and an interrogative, I may or May I, and how we use the word ‘may’ determines the path our lives take. If we’re always asking for permission (May I) we will spend a lot of time waiting for someone to agree with our course of action before we take action. But if we step into our energetic sovereignty and declare our intention (I may), we have to be willing to face the consequences of our actions if others disagree with us. 

    Either way, self awareness, self confidence, and self reliance are going to be important in navigating the month of May where different choices, fresh starts, completion, and closure work together to create transformation.

    May begins with the echo of the April 30 new moon solar eclipse with its strong spiritual and healing signatures. This balance of spiritual wholeness and healing our areas of energy incompleteness is going to be a theme in May and we will find ourselves going back and forth between celebrating a victory and being reminded of its cost in terms of pain, suffering, and loss. No matter how well intentioned, clear, or determined we are in our need to let go, move on, and start fresh, everything we let go of is accompanied by some degree of regret and a desire for a different outcome.

    Isn’t this what we face with every transformation? To get something we have to give up something else – we have to give up our desire to heal everyone to walk powerfully on our own path. We have to give up our expectations of love to let someone go who cannot love us that way. We have to give up our belief that anything can be transformed and everyone wants to have joy to free ourselves of the burden of feeling that we are not entitled to joy when there are unhappy people in the world.

    Remember the old song ‘Though April showers may come your way, they bring the flowers that bloom in May’? Last month was tough and there may have been a lot of tears and upset that will compel you to create a blooming transformation in May. What do you want to bloom in your life and what part of the past can be composted to be used as fertilizer for your fresh start.

    April 2022 Energy Report

    April starts and ends with a new moon, 30 days to move from beginnings to endings to beginnings again. Its theme is ‘rise and shine’ – notice that the word ‘rise’ comes first. We can shine without rising but it is so much more effective to rise and shine our lights at a higher frequency and with a brighter light. 

    Another April theme is ‘repossession’ which is one step above the concept of ‘taking back’, it means to claim ownership. To possess something is to own it, so when we repossess our power, we are reclaiming what we own and bringing it back into our energy field and our reality. What do you need to repossess now?  What aspects of your power have you given away, not claimed, let others borrow, use, or take? Your joy, peace of mind, heart, and spirit, your confidence, your self esteem? April is a good month to repossess your energy. You’ll need it to take intentional, inspired action this month.

    We will also experience rejection and rebalancing in relationships this month, a recalibration of our own energy, and how we use and share it. No more Martyred Healer pathways, it’s time for us to embrace, name, and claim our Empowered Mastery. Rejection is a response to energetic misalignment. Did you consider that those who reject you are very aware that they are not energetically aligned with you?

    We cannot help those who are not willing to be helped, who do not want our help, and who think we are being rude, overbearing, and imposing our will on them when we try. Listen to the podcast to hear my experience of this. It was a great lesson to me that it is not in my best interests to point out errors or inconsistencies that someone is making, even if it makes them look foolish, uneducated, and wrong.

    March 2022 Energy Report

    I love the month of March because it is the only month that is an action word. March 4th is my favorite date because every time I say it I am reminded that no matter what has happened in the past, the way out of a challenge is to take one step towards a new beginning.  I remember the old saying ‘March comes in like a lion’ and this one certainly does with a blast of a new moon on the second and strong energy aspects to keep us moving forward with courage, clarity, and confidence all month.

    March themes include awareness, alignment, acceptance, and acknowledgement. It’s a big energy month but that is what we need for the times. If we’re ready for some action March will deliver it in very big ways.

    March is a 9 energy vibration, the number of completion and endings which also prepares us for new beginnings. We can get stuck in the endings by looking longingly at what is no longer part of our lives and forget that endings simply mean that we have run out of energy road, as I always say, in that situation. 

    Every ending precedes a beginning unless we drag out the endings because we feel the loss more than we see the gain.  We have had so many endings in the past few years, many of them accompanied by disappointments that someone could behave in such inconsiderate ways but what the past few years has shown us is what is in someone’s true heart of hearts, what they really feel and most of all, what they fear the most. It is hard to watch people we once thought of as rational to act so irrationally but we have also never seen so much fear promoted to so many people. 

    If you remember a few months ago I talked about how the energy cycle we thought ended in 2012 actually began so 2021 was the end of that cycle. And I also said we were now in Ascension 2.0, a new ascension cycle, as of January 2022 when the Ascension cycle that began in April 2003 ended.

    The soul is somewhat of a mystery, an enigma, and we want to know more about this presence in our lives that is the source of our joy and at times of our pain. What is the role of the soul, what does it do for us, and how do we connect with, work with, and embody it? It’s a delicate balance that we need to perfect over our lifetime, not giving it too much or not enough power, attention, and space in our lives. Learning to create the soul-self partnership, establishing the boundaries of our co-creative partnership, and learning to align with the soul’s energy is something that we learn for ourselves as we establish the role of the soul in our lives.

    The soul is the new spin engine for coaches, pundits, instagram influencers, and people who are looking for that next conversation starter since they have moved away from the laws of abundance and attraction, and other topics. There is a lot of information out there now about how we connect with the soul. We can be ‘soul sourced’, ‘soul led’, ‘soul driven’, and ‘soul focused’. There is a lot of emphasis on divinity, the soul’s mysteries, the soul’s purpose, soul mastery, and soul alignment. 

    What is wrong with all of these topics? They give the power to the soul, they put the soul in charge and make the conversation all about the soul. And that is wrong. We are the energy containers for the soul’s energy and no matter how much we want the soul to be in charge that is never going to happen.

    The soul is our partner, not our leader. If we were taking a road trip with the soul it would be sitting in the passenger seat, not the driver’s seat. If we were running a company with our soul it would be our chief financial officer, not the CEO. It is going to tell us when we have overdrawn our bank account but it will not put money in it.

    December 2021 Energy Report

    And here we are at the end of the year, this is the final month. As we look back on the events of 2021 I think we can agree that we never could have imagined many of the things that happened. But they did and the next question is, where do we go from here? What does moving forward look like? How do we rise above the chaos and believe in the traditions and structures we feel have failed us (badly). The energy themes of December include activating your self ideation triad - self awareness, self reliance, and self empowerment. Other themes include consequences, inspiration, and truth.  Do nothing blindly - Trust, but verify. Pray for sun and carry an umbrella.  Be open to following a new path and make sure you’re the one driving the car.

    December is either an enjoyable ending or a mad rush to tie up loose ends because it marks the end of the year. This December ushers in an 8 vibration, which some will say is the sign of infinity and it is. But it also represents the endless loop of karma and healing cycles, the lifetimes of commitments and promises we make until we decide we no longer want to do that. We can either break the karmic chain or take a few more turns around its path and the energy to do that arrives with the powerful transformational energies of December. 

    In December we can break free from the old cycles that limit our soul alignment, growth, and joy and move into the creativity of the 5D path. But before you jump on board with that remember that the 4D bridge is the point of no return. Once you step on it, you can never go back. And once you release those energies, things, thoughts, beliefs, and everything else that prevents you from taking that first step onto the 4D bridge, you can never get them back either. If you have ever wondered what prevents you, or anyone else, from making this commitment, this is it. It’s a big commitment.

    October 2021 Energy Report

    Can you believe it’s October and the year is nearly over. Like 2020, this year has been marked with dis-integration, chaos, and ‘things that make you go hmmmm’. These are dark times indeed but they are surrounded by an increasing amount of light and the delays and blocks of the last 6 months will finally give way to new movement, some of it surprising, as we enter a new month that promises more stability, truth, and energetic support for our continuing ascension journey. October’s theme is onward and upward with balance, truth, justice, and integrity.

    Just the numerology of October is a welcome change from last month. We move from the unbalanced, open ended 5 of September 2021 to the descension energy of the 6 of October 2021 (10 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 15, 1 + 5 = 6).  When did we have another 6 month this year? In January, when this new adventure began. October comes full circle from what began in January as cycles close and we have opportunities to advance in new directions. Not with the baggage of the past, that has to go and this month, and we are ready to release it.

    As I write this I am noticing that my computer works faster and its hard drive is much cleaner as over the weekend I deleted hundreds of old files that I have been keeping for years. I didn’t need them, they were just taking up space, and I wasn’t going to be using them. So they got deleted. I didn’t plan to do this but when I looked up a file that I needed, the great purge began. I had been meaning to do this for months as my hard drive contains a lot of content from the 17+ years I have been writing, teaching, channeling, and sharing messages. I knew those old files needed to go, I jus tnever got around to reviewing the files. But this weekend I did and they are now gone.

    That is typical of what happens when a lot of energy moves or we are preparing for another shift in this ascension cycle, we get the urge to purge, to clean out, re-organize, get rid of things, and lighten our load. What we do in our physical space is a mirror of what is happening with us energetically. I have laughingly said that we are going to have the cleanest and most organized houses and closets when this ascension cycle is over, as much cleaning and organizing as we do. This isn’t just happening on the physical level, it is emotional and mental too. So don’t be surprised with what ends or releases itself from you now.

    Since late April we have been under the pressure of heavy retrograde energy, starting with Pluto, until now, when all of the outer planets are retrograde. Pluto’s direct motion on October 4 starts the loosening of this energy and this is a big move because Pluto has been the powerhouse of transformation since late 2008, when it first entered Capricorn.

    Now if you have been reading my monthly Energy Reports you know that I have been sharing a lot of info about Pluto in Capricorn for the past two years because it has been such an important aspect of what has been going on in the world. In 2020 the infamous Saturn/Pluto conjunction stirred up the chaos we all experienced. Pluto exerts a generational influence because it moves so slowly and while its consequences can be personal, it also has a global impact.

    Revenge or Divine Retribution

    Do you remember the last time someone hurt you, betrayed you, or you discovered something about them that made you realize they were not your friend, were not on your side, and that their actions were deliberate? 

    You may want to avenge your honor, make them pay, get revenge, show them how it feels to be treated that way, and get them to acknowledge your pain and then apologize for it.

    You want retribution, a punishment that matches the damage and harm they caused you. 

    You want resolution, to fix the situation and move on, often with them not repeating their behavior.

    You want restitution, for them to give you something to make up for what they did and for what you lost.

    While you are fully justified in feeling this way and in wanting revenge so that your pain is boomeranged right back to its originator, it’s a waste of your time and energy and it won’t have the effect you want.

    No matter how hard you try, how much effort you make, and how noble your efforts are or how well supported they are by the facts, you won’t have any effect on the person who caused your pain. Because they do not care about your pain or about causing you pain.

    For two reasons, one because they want to cause you pain and second because your pain is their revenge against you.

    Should You Bring Family Into Your Business

    Should you involve family in your business?

    You have a business and family members want to get involved or you want to give them an opportunity to use their skills with your customers

    Key decisions and things you must do before allowing family members to work with you in your business.

    1. Know what it is they have the skillset to do
    2. clearly define the role and make it legal

    What to do to ensure your business success

    1. always make a contract and make sure you keep control of your business
      Implied contracts count too

    2. does this person have skills that complement your business or add value to your customers?

    3. what do you want them to do in your business (you must keep control).

    4. are they an employee or consultant/contractor? Figure in tax costs too as an employee you pay their taxes

    5. do you get along with them enough to have them in your business? Key question: do you trust them, how far, and with what

    What to avoid

    1. let family members practice on your customers
      Hear about my former admin who let her 16 year old son practice making websites with her customers (including me), with a terrible outcome and cost me 2 weeks of time (and it's why I fired her and refused to pay the invoice)

    2. involve your young children in your business especially when it's not a fit and does not make sense
      Unless you have a family focused business or you are marketing to families, don't call your 5 year old your 'co-ceo'
      Hear about the 'business coach' who allows her 5 year old to disrupt marketing calls and

    3. allow family members to join your business and become substitutes for you just because they are ‘family’
      Make sure your family members who are involved in your business understand your customer service practices and

    4. allow them to ‘give advice’ that dictates your message, shifts your business and alters your business strategy

    5. do not give them access to your financial documents, checking account, or payment accounts and never give them check signing or withdrawal permissions unless you absolutely trust them with those processes. If they have that kind of access make sure they purchase a bond that protects your financial and business assets. There’s a good reason for that.

    What do you do if family members ask to join your business? First treat them as you would any other potential applicant. They need to have the right skill set and to be qualified to work with you. To do that you need a clear job description and make sure they are a fit. If not, say no.
    And if you do bring in family members, do it because it’s a good fit, you are comfortable with that decision, and you have very clear energy boundaries that you can maintain. If not, say no.
