Probably the most fought against doctrine is the doctrine of election. But this doctrine is not just about whether we have the freedom to choose Jesus or not. From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture clearly shows us that before the Holy Spirit regenerates our hearts and brings us to a saving faith in Jesus, we have no freedom at all! We are in complete bondage to Satan!

As Christians, we live our daily lives in enemy territory while we’re here on earth. At every turn, it seems that living as a Christian gets harder and harder. We need to know our enemy and be prepared! One of the things most under attack is the family. In the last two episodes we pointed out that God directly addressed Christian wives and after that directly addressed Christian husbands. As we move into Ephesians chapter 6, we’re going to see that God also has a message directed to Christian children, Christian parents, Christian employees, and Christian bosses. People often say that cursing is not a sin so long as you don't use God's name in vain. They are just words, and wouldn't even be considered curses at different times in history and in different cultures. Some rationalize that even if you say "darn," God knows what you are really thinking, so be true to yourself and don't lie to God and say what you're thinking. But what does the Bible say about it? And how about drinking?  Is it okay for Christians to drink so long as they don't get drunk? 

Paul answers these and other questions in the beginning part of Eph. chapter 5 including questions about foolish talk, sexual immorality, idolatry, false teaching, functioning in this dark world, disobedience, and being an effective Christian witness. Join us as we delve into God's Word!

Education is great when it’s coupled with knowledge of the Gospel – the truth that we are all sinners in need of being saved from the wrath of our perfectly holy Creator. But when education is coupled with hardness of heart instead of that knowledge, you’ve got nothing. All the education in the world is useless in keeping you from burning in hell. Without salvation, we are just educated fools.

In the latter part of chapter 4 of Ephesians, Paul is trying to keep us from being "educated fools." He is showing us and telling us what we need to know and how we should live in light of being children of God. Paul teaches us truths about maintaining the unity we already have because we believers, about teaching and correcting each other’s doctrine and theology, and  speaking the truth to each other lovingly, so that we all grow into mature Christians – something that should be the goal of every Christian.

We have reached chapter 4 of the Book of Ephesians which begins the second part of it - the imperatives – what we’re told to do in light of the fact that we’re God’s children and all He has done for us.  This indicative/imperative thing flips on its head what most people think about the Bible – and even Christianity. And it’s what makes Christianity a totally different religion than any of the false religions out there. Most (if not all) religions are about doing. 

Given the quickly changing world we live in, we could very soon find ourselves in a foxhole with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We may even find ourselves face to face with evil. In light of who we are in Christ, how does God command us to react and behave? Join us as we find out together!

In this episode, we finish out Ephesians chapter 3 and the the indicatives of part 1 of the book. In Eph. 3:14 - 21, Paul models not only praying bigger, but models how to specifically pray for Spiritual strength. The 3 main issues we  delve into from this passage in this episode are: 1)What does it mean to pray for spiritual strength? 2) What is the spiritual strength we are given? 3) Why is it even necessary that we have spiritual strength? 

But before we get to that, we define what "God's manifold wisdom" is. A confusing, sometimes misunderstood concept.

A good mystery is not one you have figured out 15 minutes into the movie, t.v. show, or book. A good mystery is not too simplistic. It's answer is multi-layered and unfolds as the story goes on. It makes our brain do some work – it is  deeper and more complex than it first appears. Maybe we even need to get some back story to fully understand.  If you like these kind of mysteries, Paul has a great one for us in Ephes. 3:1 - 13. The Jewish Christians and Gentile Christians were fighting over the Gentile Christians not getting circumcised before being accepted into the church. Paul saw that there was a lot more going on than what it appears. He understands there is a heart issue that needs to be resolved. And he resolves it by revealing the mystery that was not known to past generations, but has been made known  to Paul and the other Apostles. What was the heart issue and what does it have to do with us? Join us and find out!

We are born with a fatal spiritual problem. And that problem  doesn’t just leave us sick and in need of a little medical care. Nor are we given a little island of grace in us that’s good and can help draw us to God. Neither of these beliefs are backed up by Scripture. What Scripture does say is that, "God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. " How can we have already been raised up with Christ and are seated with him in the heavenly places when we are still here on earth?? Join us as we delve into this and the rest of Ephesians chapter 2.
