We all experience negative thoughts about ourselves or others from time to time. For example, a co-worker made a rude comment about your work and the conversation lingers in your head. It's like a bad jingle circulating in your mind and sometimes for days. In this episode, I share with you some of the tools that have been helpful to me. 

If at any time you are overwhelmed please seek medical expertise that can help you to navigate through the challenges you face. The most courageous thing you can do is to seek help when a problem gets too big for you to handle. This is not Medical advise, I'm simply sharing my personal aging well journey. In this episode we look at an odd event that is recounted in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Jesus comes across a demoniac (a man possessed by demons). In fact, he (and another man) are possessed by so many demons, the demons call themselves "Legion." Upon Jesus' arrival, the demons beg Jesus not to send them into the Abyss, but instead to let them go into a large herd of pigs nearby. Jesus gives them permission, and they immediately drown the pigs. The townspeople instead of rejoicing that the suffering man is not free from demon possession, or that they just witnessed a miracle, beg Jesus to leave their town.

Why does Jesus allow the demons to go into the pigs? Why do the demons kill the pigs? Why do the townspeople want Jesus to leave? Is demon possession possible today? Why is this passage in the Bible? Tune in for answers!

We've all seen the memes, bumper stickers, prints, tattoos, and other things that sport a verse of Scripture. However, too often, the verses are ripped away from their original passages,  taken out of context, and misused. They become man-centered instead of God-centered. They glorify man instead of God. They cheapen  God from Almighty Sovereign to a personal Santa Claus!  Join us as we put these hijacked verses back into context and back to their original meaning. It use to be that Mormons claimed their religion to be unique and not Christian. They even performed a play where a Protestant minister was used by Satan to deceive Adam. But things have changed over the years. The play is no longer performed, and now Mormons, or Latter-day Saints as they are more commonly known, claim to be Christian! Not much is known about mormonism by those on the outside. As Christians, we live our daily lives in enemy territory while we’re here on earth. At every turn, it seems that living as a Christian gets harder and harder. We need to know our enemy and be prepared! One of the things most under attack is the family. In the last two episodes we pointed out that God directly addressed Christian wives and after that directly addressed Christian husbands. As we move into Ephesians chapter 6, we’re going to see that God also has a message directed to Christian children, Christian parents, Christian employees, and Christian bosses. Education is great when it’s coupled with knowledge of the Gospel – the truth that we are all sinners in need of being saved from the wrath of our perfectly holy Creator. But when education is coupled with hardness of heart instead of that knowledge, you’ve got nothing. All the education in the world is useless in keeping you from burning in hell. Without salvation, we are just educated fools.

In the latter part of chapter 4 of Ephesians, Paul is trying to keep us from being "educated fools." He is showing us and telling us what we need to know and how we should live in light of being children of God. Paul teaches us truths about maintaining the unity we already have because we believers, about teaching and correcting each other’s doctrine and theology, and  speaking the truth to each other lovingly, so that we all grow into mature Christians – something that should be the goal of every Christian.

We have reached chapter 4 of the Book of Ephesians which begins the second part of it - the imperatives – what we’re told to do in light of the fact that we’re God’s children and all He has done for us.  This indicative/imperative thing flips on its head what most people think about the Bible – and even Christianity. And it’s what makes Christianity a totally different religion than any of the false religions out there. Most (if not all) religions are about doing. 

Given the quickly changing world we live in, we could very soon find ourselves in a foxhole with our brothers and sisters in Christ. We may even find ourselves face to face with evil. In light of who we are in Christ, how does God command us to react and behave? Join us as we find out together!

In this episode, we finish out Ephesians chapter 3 and the the indicatives of part 1 of the book. In Eph. 3:14 - 21, Paul models not only praying bigger, but models how to specifically pray for Spiritual strength. The 3 main issues we  delve into from this passage in this episode are: 1)What does it mean to pray for spiritual strength? 2) What is the spiritual strength we are given? 3) Why is it even necessary that we have spiritual strength? 

But before we get to that, we define what "God's manifold wisdom" is. A confusing, sometimes misunderstood concept.
