Ep. 21 | Recognizing False Prophets and Doctrines

Meghan spends this episode exploring the Sign of the Times that "...many shall come in [Christ's] name, saying—I am Christ—and shall deceive many". Using four examples of antichrists from the Book of Mormon, Meghan illustrates the qualities, characteristics, and behaviors of those who set themselves up as savior-figures, and strive to purposefully supplant the role of Jesus in individual lives.

Additionally, Meghan spends time discussing the important role of the Gift of Discernment and how this vital spiritual gift can serve to help us detect deception from the adversary, and these many other antichrists.

Beware of the roaring Lion- (#161- Elim)

God bless everybody that is joining us today for this podcast. Thank you for joining myself Reverend Ben Cooper and Steve Valler. As we look at the subject of be careful of the roaring lion, we go to the New Testament, the book of one Peter, chapter five verses one through to 11. They look into the Old Testament, into the book of easy kill. They unpack certain areas of false prophecy. They talk very openly, and very frankly about their experiences in depression and fear and worry and doubt. And as they unpack the text that talks about the false lion, the false prophets, the false teachers. Thank you so much for joining us today here on this podcast with Steve Valler and Reverend Ben Cooper.

    5) Bad News for False Teachers (2 Peter 2:1-3)
The 5th sermon in the series, 2 Peter: Sharing in God's Life Peter exposes the false teachers of the Early Church as no different than the false prophets of the Old Testament: those who bring condemnation and destruction on themselves. And so he warns us to look out for clever and charming speakers who deceive, specifically by how they divide the church, deny the Christ, and are depraved in their ways.

088 – What it Takes to Be a Prophet

088 – What it Takes to Be a Prophet

088 – Have you ever thought of yourself as a prophet of the Lord?

What does it mean to be a prophet? Do you have to predict the future and call down fire from heaven?

Basically, to be a prophet you need to:

    • Hear God's voice and follow His directions
    • Not promote your own personal opinions and perspectives
    • Share God's message in the way He tells you to
    • Use your spiritual eyes to see what's going on
    • Judge righteous judgment instead of judging by the outward appearance of things
    • Be humble
    • Be bold in your trust in and obedience to God
    • Have a Jesus mindset

In this week's episode, It explore the story of how the prophet Elisha established peace between the kings of Syria and Israel. It's a pretty dramatic story. You can find it in  2 Kings 6:8-23.

    Watch out for false prophets!

But there are also false prophets in the Bible, those people who told the people what they wanted to hear instead of what God was saying. Jesus calls them wolves in sheep's clothing who have the intent of destroying the sheep and being in power.

There are also false prophets today. They predict who is going to be elected president. And they predict the exact dates when Jesus will return as well as the end of the world. Even when these dates come and go, with their prophecies unfulfilled, they still proclaim their prowess as prophets and a lot of people believe them. Jesus told us not to believe these people.

    Can anyone be a prophet?

Is it possible for everyone to be a prophet or is it just for a select few?

Here’s how Moses answered that question,

"Would that all the LORD's people were prophets, that the LORD would put his Spirit on them!”  (Numbers 11:29  ESV)

I go into a lot more detail in this week's episode.

Never assume that you are not capable of being a prophet of the Lord

Earnestly cherish your God-given ability to hear God’s voice, see what He reveals to you, and follow His guidance. Put yourself in His service, whatever it may be. It’s about humility. It’s about letting go of your personal opinions and perspectives and only doing and saying what God tells you to.

There are lots of Bible references this week. Check them out in the show notes at: thebiblespeakstoyou.com/088.

    Until next week...

Beware of False Teachers and False Prophets Part II

Beware of False Teachers and False Prophets Part II

We have a lot of "Christians" who claim to hear from God, see and talk to angels all the time, preach weekly health and wealth messages in churches throughout the world.  Are these people scriptural? Are people like Creflo Dollar, Brian Simmons, The Passion Translation Bible, Bethel, John Gray, TD Jakes, Benny Hinn, Kat Kerr and others  preaching the Bible?  How can ministers receive messages from Jesus or Angels but what they receive do not line up with the Bible? Many believers are being led astray.  This is the first segment in a series of teachings on wolves in sheep's clothing.  We are warned of these false teachers and false prophets throughout the Bible.  Pastor Wigfall goes through multiple scriptures to expose the false messages that people are spreading.  In this series we discuss whether or not it is biblical to call out false teachers by name.  Matthew 7:15-23  This lesson was originally recorded on May 1, 2021.

Jude - Learning from History - Audio
Sunday, June 6, 2021 – The title for today’s message could either be: “Learning from History” or “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish”. Either one fits as we continue our study on Jude. We are now getting into the meat of the Word of God as Jude begins to describe the way God feels about false teachers and prophets and the judgment that awaits them. But there are some positive things we can learn from the mistakes of the past. If we learn from them we will avoid the same negative and punishing consequences they experience. One of the biggest deceptions of the enemy comes thru the temptation to live by our “FEELINGS” and not by the truth of God’s Word that often challenges our feelings. It’s only as we read and study God’s Word can we have godly counsel and wisdom to learn that our feelings will lead us to death and destruction as they lead others before us that gave in to their fleshly feelings. Study along with us today, and ask the Holy Spirit to be your guide into the truths of God’s Word…. Be blessed as you do…
