Don’t Feel Ready to Start Your Business? Do it Anyway.

Sometimes we just have to start anyway, even when we don't feel ready.  Natalie Johnson has shipped over 8,300 orders despite never feeling prepared and joins Alison J. Prince on the podcast to share more about she used a DBA to pivot her business, why quality (and being able to look in her customers’ eyes) is part of her business values, and how she’s built a business around her schedule. Natalie, a mother of 6, also shares how she’s been able to increase her confidence over the years and why saying “yes” is helping her grow her online business in ways she’d never expected.

How To Overcome Fear (Why Fear Is Actually GOOD) - Catherine Sweet | PEP Talk S3 E17

Catherine Sweet is a self-taught visual artist from London who created BobCat Gallery to sell her own work and showcase beautiful, affordable and original artwork on a small scale and give emerging artists a positive selling experience. Catherine creates small-scale abstract pieces inspired by music and the natural world that people can easily find space for in their homes.

BobCat Gallery focuses on small-scale, original and affordable artwork. They also host pop-up exhibitions across London, as well as heading to affordable art fairs to showcase work from their portfolio of international artists. The name for the gallery is inspired by Catherine's friend Robert Miller (known as Bob), who passed away in 2010. Bob was an incredibly talented artist himself, and Catherine (often known as Cat) wanted to honour his memory.

In this episode, Catherine and Simon dive into the topic of fear. Something that we all feel in very different ways, fear can actually be a sign that you are on the right path. No matter what business you want to start, it’s very normal to feel a sense of fear, and this podcast will help you use fear to your advantage.

“Sometimes fear can be a blocker in a major way. You don’t know if it’s going to work, you have to try it! The worst thing I can think of is the regret that you haven’t tried at all.”
