That's just a taste of what you're in for as we chat about the cultural hits and misses of DC's 'Blue Beetle,' and swap stories about the cinematic superheroes who've shaped our dreams. This episode isn't just a film critique; it's a full-on exploration of cultural impact, from the streets where tacos reign supreme to the screen where caped crusaders take flight.

BLUE BEETLE PODCAST. Conversations with the Makers. Xolo Mariduena, George Lopez, Susan Sarandon, Movie clips & more.

Prepare yourselves as we pull back the curtain on DC's latest superhero film, Blue Beetle. We're thrilled to be chatting with Angel Manuel Soto, the director, and Gareth Dunnett- Alcocer, the writer, who bring their unique insights to the table. They're here to talk about our main character, Jaime Reyes, a college grad turned superhero, the significance of a Latino superhero, and the nostalgia of the early Blue Beetle comics. To top it all off, Gareth shares his inspiring journey from dreaming of writing for DC as an 11 year old, to actually seeing his dream come true.

We also sit down with producers John Rickard and Zev Foreman to discuss the narrative of Blue Beetle and how Jaime's journey sets this film apart from other superhero movies. John talks about Jaime’s reluctance to be a hero, while Zev dives into the underlying themes of family and relationships that make this story special. They also offer an inside look at the challenging world of film production and touch on the issues surrounding character rights.

Finally, we head into the rich and complex universe of DC to understand the emotional core of Blue Beetle and the evolution of Jaime's relationship with the alien scarab. You won't want to miss how Jaime goes from an ordinary kid to an extraordinary hero while balancing family life and self-discovery. Join us in celebrating the marvel of Blue Beetle. Stick around for a heartwarming Cinema Farewell and Appreciation Toast, and remember, we value your feedback, so don't hesitate to share your thoughts with us. With an array of fascinating guests and insights, this is one episode you won’t want to skip.

Episode 56: Alissa Kacar Talks College Soccer, Travel, Food & PGA Tour Joining Forces with Saudi Arabia

Episode 56: Alissa Kacar Talks College Soccer, Travel, Food & PGA Tour Joining Forces with Saudi Arabia

Meet Alissa Kacar! Originally from New Jersey, she recently packed up and moved all the way across the country to sunny San Diego!

Alissa grew up in NJ and would eventually become the goalkeeper for TCNJ, The College of New Jersey's Women's Soccer Team. In her Senior year, she would lead her team to the finals with close to 20 shutout victories that year!!

After college, Alissa coached soccer and would eventually pack up her entire life and move across the country to sunny San Diego!! It was here that she was encouraged by her boyfriend to pick up the game of golf. Not only did she start learning to swing a golf club, but she also launched her social media accounts "NewLadyGolfer".

The idea was that she wanted to document her journey of learning to play golf and showcase her lifestyle at the same time. Very quickly she was noticed by an individual that offer her the opportunity to be a Social Media Host at the PGA TOUR event called the Farmer's Insurance Open.

That one opportunity has since opened the flood gates for her to create business contacts, brand endorsements and lead her to hitting the ceremonial first tee shot at the George Lopez Charity golf tournament the past two years!

To say that I enjoyed our conversation about golf, food, travel and people that inspire Alissa would be an understatement!

I hope you enjoy this episode. Thank you for listening.
