Many of us are currently juggling business and the kids. And let’s be honest, it’s not easy.

Gone are the days of knowing our work schedules, when school starts and finishes, and having clear boundaries between work and family life.

For me having just one of my kids at home each day has meant lots of late nights at the computer, work on weekends, staying up late thinking about work and feeling guilty about not being totally present at work or with my kids.

In this episode, I chat to Shane Fixter from Teachers Australia about surviving homeschooling and getting work done.

Shane Fixter is the Founder of Teachers Australia. His company has assisted government to provide Primary, Secondary and Tertiary students to parents, carers and community Support Programs since 2015. Teachers Australia is like Airbnb and Uber for teachers and students.

If any Primary, Secondary or Tertiary student in Australia is struggling with their learning or would like to supplement their current education, Teachers Australia allows its users to carefully select their own teacher and watch them travelling to their location using their app.

Since 2015, they have provided over 2000 hours of education to Aussie kids.

Students can track teachers directly to their location or learn online in the safety of their own home.

Teachers Australia donates 2% of every transaction back to kids in care and indigenous students to assist government in “CLOSING THE GAP” a major federal government initiative.

In light of the current COVID 19 situation, Shane has allowed everyone to use the Teachers Australia platform free of charge up until the June July school holidays.

Turn your at-home-hobby into a MONEY MAKING MACHINE!
Moms, there has never been a better time for you to put your special skills into action to create a profitable business. You don't need a business degree or even previous entrepreneurial experience to find success your first time out of the gate. These days, you can work from ANYWHERE and still make money.
The BEST way to launch a new business...
...Hold your breath and DIVE RIGHT in, of course... but not before creating a basic business plan. Have fun with it! Don't be afraid to mix in some spontaneity with your preparedness. Both will adequately add value to your launch and balance you out --- whether you are more of the impulsive type or the deliberate planner.
ENSURE a successful first-time launch!
With anything new and unfamiliar, you MUST go in with a sense of adventure. Don't sweat the small stuff. There is a first time for everything and EVERYONE who has ever been super successful.
Ask the Pros
No matter how unique your idea is, there have many others before you who have launched something similar. DON'T LET THIS INTIMIDATE YOU. If anything, see it is as an opportunity that is rich and valuable in lessons... free for the taking. Successful business owners who have been at this awhile LOVE to offer advice, so take advantage and don't shy away from asking those tough questions. (The more you ask the more they'll offer you in the way of advice. Funny how that works out!)
Before the big launch...
You don't have to wait for the big launch to start collecting a paycheck. If there are interested parties NOW, don't wait until you get your logo and website "just right." Capitalize on the enthusiasm of your soon-to-be-business right now! Pre-launch is a great time to offer deep discounts to friends and family in exchanged for "happy camper" testimonials.
Forgot something?
Yep, there is a good chance you forgot something. Don't sweat it. A small business is ALWAYS a work in progress and you'll be fixing little details up until you decide to sell your business for retirement funds. EVERYTHING IS FIXABLE.
Expect it, roll up your sleeves and get down to it.
Worried about TOO MUCH success too quickly?
OH NO! What if my site crashes from too much traffic? What if I run out of inventory? What if orders come in faster than I can keep up with them?
These are all good problem to have. You should HOPE for these things, not be afraid of them. If these problems come your way--- (and I sincerely HOPE THEY DO)---take them as beautiful indications that your new business will SOAR. =) =)

Ironically, it was I who was honored to be in their presence. I had many surreal take-aways... the first being when a woman told me that she attributes much of her success to the organization that I founded nearly 6 years ago. I remember my vision for OMM like it was yesterday, and I had only hoped that it would make a difference in people’s lives-- but I could never have predicted this recent... profound... moment when I realized that all those years ago, my decision to execute my vision ACTUALLY made a difference in someone else’s life. This told me several things: **It is important that we ACT on our visions and our dreams. Not only for US-- but for others. When we find success, we give others permission to do the same. These are not JUST downloads, subscribers, "likes" on a Facebook page, or a comment on a blog... each "number" is an opportunity to gain new insight into something that we didn't know before. Getting on the stage to speak publicly reminded me of how important it is for us to stay connected with each other...on a personal level. With more than 30,000 radio show downloads each month, I have fallen into the same trap as so many of you... forgetting what each number represents. It can almost make your mind EXPLODE with the opacity that EACH NUMBER is an ACTUAL PERSON--- filled with hopes and dreams... fears and challenges... and the choice --and desire--to make a difference in this lifetime. Each one of us is filled with experiences and memories that have created and molded us into our true selves. Each person we meet is an opportunity to learn something new-- and you never know when you could be meeting your next best friend. IT HIT ME LIKE A TON OF BRICKS--- how distant we can be from one another when we are all so fragile... it is so very... HUMAN. And yet, we DON'T have to live that way. We are ALL capable of living full and rich lives...especially when we CHOOSE to connect with one another.
