Interview with New York Times Bestseller Kayla Cottingham, Author of This Delicious Death

Jake and Ron are so thrilled to have New York Times bestselling author Kayla Cottingham on the Wrath of the iOtians! Her first book, My Dearest Darkest, became a New York Times and Publisher's Weekly bestseller. Her latest, This Delicious Death (Sourcebooks Fire) is a story about four best friends with a hunger for human flesh attend a music festival in the desert they discover a murderous plot to expose and vilify the girls and everyone like them.

Two years ago, a small percentage of population underwent a transformation known as the Hollowing. Those affected were only able to survive by consuming human flesh. The people who went without quickly became feral, turning on their friends and family. Luckily, scientists were able to create a synthetic version of human meat that would satisfy their hunger. As a result, humanity slowly began to return to normal.

Cut to Zoey, Celeste, Valeria, and Jasmine, four hollow girls living in Southern California. As a last hurrah before graduation they decide to attend a musical festival in the heart of the desert. They have a cooler filled with seltzer, vodka, and Synflesh… and are ready to party.

But on the first night of the festival Val goes feral and ends up killing and eating a boy in one of the bands. As other festival guests start disappearing around them the girls soon discover someone is targeting people like them. And if they can't figure out how to stop it, and soon, no one at the festival is getting out alive.

It was so much fun chatting with Kayla, and we are inspired by her! The future of horror is in good hands.

Emily Murphy, Longwood Softball ’16, Starts String of NCAA Appearances

Emily Murphy was a key part in Longwood’s first three Big South Conference championships.  The four-time all-conference shortstop left her marks in the career record book ranking within the top four in home runs, RBIs, and hits, just to name a few.  She topped off her career hitting .365 as a senior.  Murphy now passes on her lessons learned from mentors Kathy Riley and Kayla Miller as a coach and teacher at the Fuqua School in Farmville, Virginia.

Exploring the Soul of the Enneagram Eight w/Kayla Craig [S05-014]

Exploring the Soul of the Enneagram Eight w/Kayla Craig [S05-014]

The Enneagram tells us that there are nine basic personality types, one of which we each gravitate towards in childhood.  But if you dig a little deeper, each type actually has three instinctual variants called subtypes that help explain why people of the same type can look so different.  For each type, there is the self-preservation subtype, social subtype, and the one-to-one subtype.

Today’s guest, former journalist Kayla Craig, joins me in a conversation about how understanding her subtype as a social Eight has illuminated different aspects of her personality and influenced her interactions with her family and others.  She provides wonderful insight into her relationship with emotions and what the soul of an Eight looks like.

    We also explore:

    • the distinctive characteristics of the social Eight subtype vs. the self-preservation and one-to-one subtypes
    • why social Eights can be mistyped as Enneagram Twos, and
    • the transformational journey for Eights

This episode is chock full of wisdom. You're going to love it!

    Crawl

    Crawl

Two Animal-themed releases in the same week had the boys spoilt for choice, so the FMB decided to throw a couple of dollars at the movie they felt needed it more (sorry anyone expecting a Lion King ep, not this year).

And boy when it comes to Alexandre Aja's "Crawl" our hosts landed themselves a pleasant surprise. The boys clearly had a blast and it shows as they breeze through an episode as lean and clean as the film itself.

this episode would have you believe we're watching Once Upon A Time In Hollywood nest; this episode would be wrong. True Romance next.
