The dynamic Father and Son duo are back once again to talk Los Angeles Rams football!

This week they recap some playoff football action from around the NFL, then dive right into the Rams Cardinals game.  

Ending the season with a win and having a winning record is always a good thing.  The game was also the last time the Rams will play at the LA Coliseum and they share their favorite memories of Rams football there.

Also, there was Rams news since the last recorded podcast.  Wade Phillips and John Fassel will not. be back next year.  In place they have hired a new Defensive Coordinator and an Offensive Coordinator (the first time since 2017).  In addition they look ahead to some pending Free Agents on the team.

For this Mini-Session from our Next Up: The LA River event, Nicholas Korody spoke with Julia Meltzer, director and founder of non-profit arts organization, Clockshop, and Elizabeth Timme, co-director of the urban design and architecture non-profit LA-Más.

Both Clockshop and LA-Más are located within Elysian Valley, aka Frogtown—a sliver of a neighborhood bordered by the LA River, the 5 and the 2 freeways. In recent years, Frogtown (predominantly a low-density neighborhood of single-family homes) has become a major focus in LA conversations about gentrification and development, and both Timme's and Meltzer's work is heavily invested in their context. Clockshop (in collaboration with California State Parks) has its HQ in Frogtown and hosts art events in the Bowtie, an undeveloped plot of land along the river. In 2015, LA-Más led a community "co-visioning process" (the 'Futuro de Frogtown') to determine the kind of development decisions residents were concerned about.

Nicholas Korody spoke with both Timme and Meltzer about issues of equitable-design and place-making along the river, and the role of art within a master redevelopment plan.

Lorenzo Lamas is an American actor well known for playing Lance Cumson on the 1980s soap opera Falcon Crest (Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor), Reno Raines on the 1990s crime drama Renegade, and Hector Ramirez on the daytime soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful. He’s starred in dozens of movies (most recently Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!), served as a judge on ABC television's Are You Hot? and starred in his own reality show, Leave It to Lamas, a series about his real-life family. In 2014 he published his autobiography, Renegade at Heart, and last year starred as a cast member on the reality TV show Celebrity Apprentice. 

In this informal and highly personal conversation with Bob & Suzanne, Lorenzo Lamas shares intimate stories of his childhood as the son of legendary movie stars Fernando Lamas and Arlene Dahl and as the stepson of MGM super-star Esther Williams.

You’ll hear what life was like as a boy growing up in the shadow of his parents’ showbiz fame…and how he transformed himself from a chubby teen to a genuine Hollywood heartthrob.

Lorenzo tells fascinating stories of his years bouncing around between schools in New York and California, and of the day he told his father he wanted to become an actor. An impromptu “audition” for his movie star parents soon had him studying at the famed Tony Barr Film Actors Workshop.

It wasn’t long before Lorenzo was cast in small TV roles and found himself playing alongside John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John in Grease.

Lorenzo’s rising profile as an actor soon led to a long list of guest roles on hot TV shows like Switch, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, and Hotel.

But it was Lorenzo’s audition for the role of “Lance Cumson” on CBS-TV’s Falcon Crest that shot him to stardom working with family friend Jane Wyman.

As the only Falcon Crest cast member to appear in all 227 episodes, Lorenzo shares a unique perspective on the series.

During this interview, Lorenzo reveals how he was cast by Stephen J. Cannell as “Reno Raines” in Renegade, a starring role that captured his true persona.

Lorenzo also shares details here about his new autobiography, Renegade at Heart, and reveals his feelings about life as a “reality” TV star as well as his love of performing in live theater, where he’s had starring roles in The King and I, The Fantasticks, and A Chorus Line.
