Helping people solve complex problems in a playful manner with Manuel Grassler

Helping people solve complex problems in a playful manner with Manuel Grassler
**WRAP-UP** Isn't it the most beautiful job in the world to enable people to play? Talking about that: Don't we forget to play when we grow up, even though it is the most normal thing in the world when we are children? I go even further: it would be disturbing if a child could not play. So what happens to our creativity if we don't give it the space it needs? Today I welcome Manuel Grassler, a playful thinker, a playpreneur. His mission is bringing playful methodologies into the business environment and helping people solve complex problems with a playful manner. Manuel is a workshop facilitator and trainer for methods such as lego serious play, playmobil pro or card-based tools, among others. In this episode you will learn - What the difference is between game and play - How a facilitator can bring his participant to adopt a playful thinking - What the benefits are of such an experience for the participant? **CONTACT - LA WORKSHOPPEUSE / Nathy Ravez** 🙏🏻 Share with me your thoughts about this episode or what you would like to hear in this podcast.Feeling inspired by the conversation in this episode? #010 Transforming Teams with LEGO with Brandon Wetzstein

Have you ever been in a situation at work where people are not communicating clearly, feel stuck, and are disengaged? What if I told you that type of situation could be turned around with...LEGO bricks!

While LEGO may have been a cherished part of your childhood, it turns out that we can still use LEGO as grown ups to improve how we work while adding more play to our work lives along the way. My guest Brandon Wetzstein is the founder of In8 Create and team performance consultant who employs a method known as LEGO Serious Play to enable teams to align and communicate more clearly, define and build culture and strategy, and use the power of metaphor to tell stories that transform how they work and achieve their goals together.

In this episode Brandon and I talk about his journey from working in corporate operations at Fortune 100 retailers to starting his own consulting business, his early experiments bringing improv into his corporate teams. the joys of PowerPoint Karaoke, how leaders and teams can dramatically improve communications through LEGO Serious Play, stories you can tell with a LEGO duck, how just six pieces of LEGO can yield thousands of build variations, and how making conversations visual and tangible can exponentially amplify the level of communication, understanding, and alignment among groups of people.

069 Playfulness in Business with Intent
Lego serious play is a great way to facilitate serious discussions about anything that is affecting your organisation, using games, mini figures and models gives you the opportunity to include everyone regardless of age, level or experience and is great at involving those smart introverts because they are thinking with their hands. This playful approach is not a means to an end but a door opener for innovation, openness and progress. We also talk about how corporate culture can be nudged into shape with playfulness and a genuine interest in each other not just as colleagues but also as individuals, particularly now that we are working remotely

Anyone can use Lego Serious Play in their workshops (and here’s how you do it) with Michael Fearne (Episode 149)

Anyone can use Lego Serious Play in their workshops (and here’s how you do it) with Michael Fearne (Episode 149)

This week, we're talking about the value of tactile objects in your workshop and how they can help unlock great ideas, real conversations and so much more (oh and yes, this can  work virtually, too).

I’m talking about Lego® Serious Play®. Today's guest, Michael Fearne is all about sharing the Lego® Serious Play® love with the world, and he’s even written a book about it - a book that makes it more accessible for all of us to start digging into the world of LSP.

Michael helps clients to break out of the “business as usual” dynamic and be more innovative using the awesome power of Lego® Serious Play®. That’s right Lego + Work = A More Innovative Business.

As the founder of Pivotal Play, Michael uses his experience as a professional facilitator and expertise with LEGO Serious Play to help teams to think more creatively, communicate more effectively and deliver more innovative results.

He also empowers people to use this technique themselves by coaching and guiding them, giving them the tools and the benefit of his experience so they can get the most out of their meetings.

In this conversation, Michael shares how all of us can use lego effectively during our workshops and awesome ideas on how to do so.  He describes how using something tactical can really help boost the use of metaphor, and story-sharing, and the value of having a solid routine to start each workshop.

His book, The LSP Method is also out right now! I love the practicality of the book, and how Michael even shares how you should setup the room, how to open up using the six bricks activity, so good.

One Brick to Rule Them All

One Brick to Rule Them All

Like most of us Dave Ware went years without playing with Lego, but not many years. Maybe there was a five year window where he wasn't building with Lego. You'll have to listen to this episode about this extraordinary person and his journey from English Major to Database Architect to Lego Pro and all things in between.

Yep. Dave's a professional Lego Builder—among a myriad of other talents and professions—who looks for large, artistic projects to aim his talents at. He's got sage advice and funny stories and reveals his wish for the One Brick to Rule Them All.
