#51 | Katie Boyce How to add a Lead Magnet to your Marketing Strategy

Great marketing should make our consumers feel like they WANT to open that email and look at the blog post or podcast. We have all had those moments where marketing may have put us off because it was a little “icky” or overly done but today’s guest Katie Boyce is going to help us with copywriting and brand messaging that feels just right!

    In this episode, we discuss

👉  What a lead magnet is, why they are important, and how to decide that you need one (hint: we all do!).

👉  What type of lead magnet attracts the right client, what can set you apart and what really makes a good lead magnet.

👉 What comes after you create the lead magnet from putting it all together, the tech side, the nurture sequence, and all that comes along with having a successful lead magnet. She shares how the days after they are delivered the lead magnet are really key in conversions.

👉 Email service providers and tech tools you can use to build your welcome sequences and how to keep moving forward even if this part is intimidating for you!

👉 What emails should be included in a welcome sequence and how to build out an email sequence that will keep your subscribers interested and engaged.

👉 When it may be best to hire a copywriter and how a copywriter can help you really nail down your brand messaging to attract the clients you really want.

Generative AI News - Charles Barkley Deepfake, Elon Musk, Hugging Face and More - Voicebot Podcast Ep 315

Generative AI News - Charles Barkley Deepfake, Elon Musk, Hugging Face and More - Voicebot Podcast Ep 315

The Generative AI News (GAIN) rundown for April 13, 2023, included some breaking news on Amazon Bedrock, the new service competing directly with OpenAI and Microsoft’s Azure AI services. We also discussed Twitter’s generative AI ambitions, HuggingGPT, a positive generative AI launch from MailChimp and a lackluster implementation by Expedia, OpenAI’s bug bounty, the Italy ChatGPT saga, a deepfake of Charles Barkley, Alibab’s everything AI bot, and a bit more.

Bret Kinsella (that’s me) hosted again this week with my Voicebot.ai colleague Eric Schwartz. The top stories in generative AI land this week include:

Amazon Takes on OpenAI & Microsoft

    • A multivendor Bedrock approachAmazon Bedrock now offers easy access to many generative AI models, including AI21 Labs, Anthropic, Stability AI, and Titan.

    • Copilot gets a competitor: Amazon’s CodeWhisperer, a text-to-code generator, is now general availability and free. GitHub Copilot may have a market share lead with 400,000 paying subscribers, but free is a good way to accumulate users.

    Elon Musk Goes Shopping

    • Twitter and Generative AI: Elon Musk has reportedly purchased 10,000 GPUs after he was out recruiting some well-known AI researchers. So, why did he want OpenAI and others to pause their AI research? We’ll see. Musk may want Twitter to be an “everything app,” and generative AI would be a key element. Or, he may just want advertisers to have a useful feature.

    HuggingGPT and Multi-Model Systems

    • Microsoft’s latest take on hybrid AI: Microsoft researchers released a paper and a GitHub repository with a new multi-model LLM controller (orchestrator) that can govern access to a variety of AI models for a single interface called HuggingGPT. We will see more of these multi-model services.

    MailChimp Gets AI Copywriter

    • Building on the core productMailChimp added AI writing capabilities via an OpenAI integration. It looks like a clean, on-point generative AI feature. There is no extra cost for the feature right now, but at what point will the companies start passing along the model inference costs to users?

    Expedia Misses the Plot

    • Generating misperceptionExpedia also announced some new generative AI features, but it actually only enables you to learn more about hotels and activities. You can’t actually book a flight or hotel even though the press release language was cleverly written to suggest there is more there than travel review search. Speaking of search, the new GPT-4-powered Bing not only does a better job of trip planning and research, but it also enables you to book a flight and hotel.

    Alibaba Goes for Everything

    • A generative cornucopia: Alibaba announced its new generative AI solution. The ChatGPT competitor is called Tongyi Qianwen. It is integrated into the Tmall Genie assistant (i.e., Alibaba’s voice assistant), takes meeting notes, writes emails, and creates business documents. It can also help you shop and the company says it supports both Chinese and English.

    OpenAI Bug$ Out

    • Crowdsourcing security vulnerabilities: OpenAI launched a new Bug Bounty program which will pay out between $200 - $20,000 to developers that find “vulnerabilities, bugs, or security flaws.” This follows OpenAI’s highly publicized security vulnerability and subsequent investigations by privacy regulators in Italy and Canada.

    FanDuel Goes Deep

    • A young Charles Barkley pitches sports gambling: FanDuel has a new commercial that includes a real-life Charles Barkley and a deepfake of his younger self. Deepfakes are becoming mainstream. Or, maybe they already are.

The show was originally broadcast live on YouTube and LinkedIn, and we also added it to the Voicebot Podcast for your convenience. You can see the video here on YouTube

    Linda Eliasen: Bricks and Mortar

    Linda Eliasen: Bricks and Mortar
Linda is a designer, creative director, and as her website says: 'Your friend in design.' Her story starts in small-town Georgia, and since she has had an illustrious career, from being a designer at companies like Mailchimp and Dropbox, to her time as an Art Director at UENO, and most recently leadership roles at Help Scout and Mux. Linda shared some of her most meaningful lessons, and how they have affected both her leadership style, and her personal approach to life.

Michelle Taite (Mailchimp) | Leading a Brand Through an Acquistion

Michelle Taite (Mailchimp) | Leading a Brand Through an Acquistion

Michelle Taite is the Chief Marketing Officer of Intuit’s Mailchimp. Mailchimp is an all-in-one marketing, automation and email platform for growing businesses, with a special focus on small and medium-size businesses. The company was founded in 2001 and has its roots in email marketing, but it has evolved to offer a far wider range of services. Intuit purchased Mailchimp in late 2021 for about $12 Billion, and the platform now joins other Intuit portfolio brands such as TurboTax, Quickbooks, Mint and Credit Karma.

At Mailchimp, Michelle leads the marketing teams and is responsible for the business’ end-to-end brand, acquisition, performance, product, and lifecycle marketing activities globally. She started her career as a shoe designer for New Balance, before leaving the shoe industry to earn her MBA at the Wharton School in Philadelphia. She then worked at Unilever for 7 years and joined Intuit in late 2017.

In this episode, Michelle and Jim discuss her becoming the CMO of Mailchimp after it was acquired by Intuit, why she strongly believes in fearlessness, and what Unilever and Intuit could learn from each other.

Cum sa stapanesti email marketing-ul in afacerea ta

Cum sa stapanesti email marketing-ul in afacerea ta

Odata colectate adresele, e important sa comunici segmentat, in functie de preferinte si interese (imparte abonatii in grupuri distincte pe baza unui atribut comun).

Trebuie sa le castigi increderea pentru a-i putea transforma in clienti.

Emily Ryan on Building her Mailchimp Kingdom

Emily Ryan is the Mailchimp Queen.

I hope that doesn't offend anyone, but I don't know any other email marketing agency owner focused on Mailchimp.

It was a pleasure talking to this aspiring actor turned email marketer because she's done so much to help companies and was more than happy to share her experiences with the inboxing audience.
