Psycho Bob Says Was Johann Konrad Dippel the real Dr. Frankenstein?

Psycho Bob Says Was Johann Konrad Dippel the real Dr. Frankenstein?

Another 10-minute installment of Psycho Bob Says...Join him and Shaner as they try to answer 3 questions:

    1. Who was Johan Konrad Dipple?
    2. Was he the inspiration for Mary Shelley’s novel, Frankenstein?
    3. Was he the real-life Dr. Frankenstein?

He was born August 25, 1673, in Castle Frankenstein near Darmstadt Germany. He studied theology, philosophy and alchemy at the University of Giessen, obtaining a master's degree in theology in 1693.

Dippel claimed to discover alchemy's elixir of life and that he could exercise demons and even killed a man in duel. Join Bobber and Shaner as they attempt to answer the questions above!

    Prodigies: Mary Shelley

    Prodigies: Mary Shelley

Mary Shelley (1797-1851) wrote a spooky story that has stood the test of time. A character from her book is still an iconic Halloween costume. At only eighteen years of age, this Womanican began writing her most famous work: “Frankenstein.”

History classes can get a bad rap, and sometimes for good reason. When we were students, we couldn’t help wondering... where were all the ladies at? Why were so many incredible stories missing from the typical curriculum? Enter, Womanica. On this Wonder Media Network podcast we explore the lives of inspiring women in history you may not know about, but definitely should.

Every weekday, listeners explore the trials, tragedies, and triumphs of groundbreaking women throughout history who have dramatically shaped the world around us. In each 5 minute episode, we’ll dive into the story behind one woman listeners may or may not know–but definitely should. These diverse women from across space and time are grouped into easily accessible and engaging monthly themes like Educators, Villains, Indigenous Storytellers, Activists, and many more.  Womanica is hosted by WMN co-founder and award-winning journalist Jenny Kaplan. The bite-sized episodes pack painstakingly researched content into fun, entertaining, and addictive daily adventures.

Womanica was created by Liz Kaplan and Jenny Kaplan, executive produced by Jenny Kaplan, and produced by Liz Smith, Grace Lynch, Maddy Foley, Brittany Martinez, Edie Allard, Lindsey Kratochwill, Adesuwa Agbonile, Carmen Borca-Carrillo, Taylor Williamson, and Ale Tejeda. Ep. 18: Frankenstein (1931)

    Ep. 18: Frankenstein (1931)

We've got a (James) Whale of a movie this week! It's the icon of icons: Frankenstein. Cody and Matt discuss the "tragedy" of parenthood, the morality of experimentation gone unchecked, and the job description for one (1) incredibly odd laboratory assistant. Other discussions include the pros and cons of physical media, meeting the icon himself last year, and  juggle options for the Fred Gwynne Veteran Character Actor Award. In an unsurprising twist, they land on two old people struggling to get their lines out.

It's Man vs. Monster vs. Disgruntled Wedding Planner in this week's shocking episode! Grab a shovel and don't stand too close to the water!

    Thanks for listening!

Ep. 122: Everything Turns Grey - Goth Rock vol.III Featuring Brent Zius

Ep. 122: Everything Turns Grey - Goth Rock vol.III Featuring Brent Zius

It’s been unusually dark, cold, and grey here in Atlanta, GA for the past few days, so the boys thought it best to bring on a guest who is an authority on all things grim and ghastly. They donned all-black garb, guy-liner, and a healthy dose of black no. 1 on their mop tops and welcomed Mr. Brent Zius and his coffin full of goodies to the firehouse. Brent schools us on the dark and ethereal world of Goth Rock…

What is it we do here at InObscuria? In most shows Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week is different as our guest, Brent Zius, provides the playlist for your 2 rock n’ roll grave robbers to react to. Our hope is that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, or something you've simply forgotten about, or that (in our opinion) should have been the next big thing.

Don’t forget to check out Brent’s latest project album: Angelspit Vs. Ice Planet 9000 – Sequence 1: Glass Jar on Bandcamp here!

Ep. 99: Famous Ghost Stories From Rock n' Punk n' Metal

Ep. 99: Famous Ghost Stories From Rock n' Punk n' Metal

This week’s show is the final frightful installment of our month-long celebration of the Halloween season. We also celebrate 2-years of existence!!! We hope you love this episode to death… There are some frightfully spooktacular songs on this episode that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck and nether regions! Happy Halloween everyone!

What is it we do here at InObscuria? In the beginning, good always overpowered the evils of all man's sins... But in time the nations grew weak, and our cities fell to slums while evil stood strong. In the dusts of hell, lurked the blackest of hates. For he whom they feared awaited them... Now many many lifetimes later lay destroyed beaten down and only the corpses of rebels, ashes of dreams, and bloodstained streets remain... It has been written"Those who have the youth, have the future". So, come now children of the beast; be strong and shout at the devil!

    1. Wednesday 13 – “Necrophaze (feat. Alice Cooper)” from Necrophaze (2019)
    2. Type O Negative – “Black Sabbath (From The Satanic Perspective)” from The Least Worst Of Type O Negative (2000)
