"Walk Gently and Speak Kindly" Thoughts on Single Motherhood—with Tammica Dowd

"Walk Gently and Speak Kindly" Thoughts on Single Motherhood—with Tammica Dowd

What got you through the hardships of your childhood?

When Tammica Dowd was young and living in a group home, at times she’d be locked in a closet by a counselor. In order to keep her mind strong and pass time, she envisioned what she wanted for her future.

    -Graduate high school.

    -Marry her dream guy.

-Have five children who’d never go through what she went through.

    -Go to Maui.

    -Win a Grammy.

All her goals but one were achieved! (But don’t count her out for that Grammy.)

She did not see divorce coming.

Now, as a single mother of five young children, she has advice and experience to share, including how helping her children through life events has allowed for personal healing.

Sometimes healing comes with helping someone through the experience that caused our trauma.

Join me and Tammica Dowd, as she speaks to the shame of single motherhood.

    Maintaining Mental Health and Wellness

    Maintaining Mental Health and Wellness

Just like Dental and Physical Health, Mental Health is a priority and mental health care is a lifestyle. May was Mental Health Awareness Month, yet Mental Health and Mental Illness need to be talked about and normalized all year round. No one should feel alone or without the information, support, and help they need. Listen to shared stories about resilience, self-care, available resources, and the importance of maintaining mental health and wellness ft. AADAP's Clinical Director Angela Bartolome, LCSW.

"How Healing Begins with Awareness" explains Dr. Rashmi Schramm

"How Healing Begins with Awareness" explains Dr. Rashmi Schramm

Self-compassion is a necessity for our overall holistic health and wellbeing. It involves being kind and thoughtful toward ourselves when we feel inadequate, rather than disregarding our pain or even worse, beating ourselves up with self-criticism.

I had an incredible chat on this #FunFridayPodcast with the lovely Dr. Rashmi Schramm, Founder of Optimal Wellness on ways to be self-aware and foster self-compassion.

We cannot overemphasize the importance of our #MentalHealth during this #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth so I hope you will take a listen and share your thoughts with us.

Dr. Rashmi Schramm is a board-certified family physician, board-certified integrative wellness coach, and the founder of Optimal Wellness.
