The Meaning You Give the Fear

The Meaning You Give the Fear

In this episode, I share some thoughts on the meaning that we give to our fear.

“F-E-A-R: has two meanings: Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The choice is yours.” — Zig Ziglar

“Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it.” ~ Tony Robbins.

Fear can be our guidepost, our compass that something is so big for us that it gets overwhelming or we allow the overwhelm to take over.

    In this episode, we discuss:
    1)  When we are stuck in fear we are fearing the worst.  We are prepping and planning for the worst thing to happen, and we go to the absolute worst-case scenario, when in fact it is a scenario that rarely happens.  Where do you allow your mind to go when the fear shows up?

    2) When fear shows up I check-in.  Am I feeling called to do something out of lack or because I know it can expand me?  If it is the expansion and I am stuck in the but how then do I know I have moved my thinking up to my head and allowed myself to be stuck.

    3) Fear means nothing, it doesn’t mean you are weak, scared, not strong enough, or believing it is not possible for you.  Get into action and let the movement be the thing that creates a shift.

    4) Know that the fear actually never goes away.  I like to call fear my teammate, I don’t like to resist her, she is part of the team.

How to Own it When You’re in a Funk

How to Own it When You’re in a Funk
In this episode, I want to share some thoughts in response to what do I do when I am in a funk?  There’s this weird message (unspoken) in social media, building an online business, of what do I do when I am in a funk? Or even more ridiculously, assuming people in the online space don’t have off days or that they’re in a funk.  That is when we’re not even being fair, reasonable with ourselves.  That is where comparison can be a really slippery slope.

    In this episode, we discuss:
    1)  How to identify when you are in a funk, what does that look like for you, and how quickly can you bring it back to an ownership piece of what do you need that you are not giving yourself. Time, rest, permission, boundaries, self care, fitness, nutrition, habits etc.  It always comes back to me owning what I need to give myself.

    2) How fast can we shift, disrupt the pattern and take responsibility for our funk?

    3) Give yourself permission for some downtime.  We can only give from overflow to others.  That is it.  We always go first.

Ask "What is This Teaching Me"

Ask "What is This Teaching Me"

In this episode, I am sharing the go-to question, that I refer back to on a regular basis.  If we are always willing to learn and grow, and if we are asking for growth, then life will be forever teaching us lessons.  What we choose to make that mean is all on us. I have lived and embodied this question and lesson especially over the last month.

    In this episode, we discuss:
    1)  We decide at any time what something is teaching us.  We are a victim of our circumstances or a the victor of our story.  We always get to decide.

    2) How we all sign up for our soul contract and how life gives us the challenges and experiences to grow into being able to serve that soul contract.  Life doesn’t always give us what we want, it gives us what we need in order to grow into that higher version of ourselves.

    3)  When we ask what life is teaching us, we are opening up our subconscious mind to see the possibilities.  Ask a different question, get a different answer.

    4) Asking more questions, creates curiosity, helps you to see potential, build emotional intelligence, lending to better soft skills - key in leadership at work and interpersonal relationship building.

    The Power of Your Voice

    The Power of Your Voice

    The Power of Your Voice

In this episode, I am sharing some thoughts and misconceptions when it comes to “finding your voice”.  You actually don’t need to find your voice.  You haven’t lost it or never had it, you haven’t used it because you are waiting to feel confident, to trust it or to find a way to avoid criticism or judgments from others who might disagree with your message.

    In this episode, we discuss:
    1)  Action breeds confidence.  The only way to start to build confidence is to get into action.  Let it be messy, not perfect, this is how you let others see you, how you build confidence, create feedback and then re-ajust and course correct.

    2) Your voice is unique.  Your message is unique.  When we give into the fear, we are honestly playing a story and making it about us.  When we can step outside of ourselves and see what we can do, how our message can help others, we can work through our fears of what will others think.

    3)  I have to bring HD (human design) into this conversation.  If you have not had an HD assessment, I strongly encourage you to dive in.  The throat center is all about expression and manifesting. I will be diving into more content on the throat and the spleen (our center for intuition) because as we are diving into all of the content for the HOW method, Healing, Owning and Writing your story, it has become more apparent how we have to learn more about who we are and find our own unique way to work through our fears of using our voice.

What Are You Choosing to Allow?

What Are You Choosing to Allow?

In this episode, I am sharing the some thoughts on boundaries, what we allow, how to recognize when we are carrying things that don’t serve us, and some practical tips for how to work though the process of letting go when we realize that we are carrying things that are not ours to carry.  This is a concept that affects and impacts so many of us, especially when it comes to building a business in the online space, as well as so many of us being disconnected or hiding behind our phones or devices.

    In this episode, we discuss:
    1)  Boundaries are our highest form of self-respect, we choose what we allow into our lives.  That is people, energy, experiences, how we choose to feel, all of it is on us and it is our responsibility.

    2) What we allow is what will continue.  It honestly is that simple.  When you change your response with someone in your life and put a boundary in place, don't automatically elevate your expectations of their behaviour. Their behaviour is always their choice.

    3)  Get real, honest and raw with yourself.  When something isn’t working in your life, what can you change, what can you do differently, and how can you bring it back to ownership to see what is missing in your life?

Measure Backwards - How I Got Here

Measure Backwards - How I Got Here
In this episode, I wanted to share some of my back story on how I got here.  It comes down to we think we know someone’s story but we never do. We know the chapter we are reading and what we perceive the story is.  As I was breaking down the content for the HOW program, and combining that with the book content from The Gap and The Gain it had me stop and want to share this journey with you.

    In this episode, we discuss:
    1)  The steps in my early journey, the bold and scary moves I made and the impact that they made in my life to bring me to this point.

    2) How important it is to measure ourselves backwards - by how far we have come and what that looks like. We can have goals moving forward but we must measure our progress by looking backwards.

    Coaches - Stop Shaming Clients

    Coaches - Stop Shaming Clients

In this episode, I am getting a little spicy as I share some thoughts and perspective on the coaching industry.  How coaches need to stop shaming their clients to do x,y,z or they won’t be successful.  I also share some tips for the client when it comes to making choices in their own business and how they can create a checklist to refer to when it comes to selecting a coach.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    1) How coaches can stand in integrity in their business by continuing to commit to doing their own work, their own healing and then speak to their clients from that grounded space instead of from the lack, shaming and judgement space.

    2) I shared some tips to creating your own checklist when it comes to choosing a coach who may expand you to step into the impact you here to create.  How it’s so important to not choose a coach out of lack or FOMO, yet to choose to get in the rooms or containers that inspire you to move out of your own way to build what you are here to

    Suicide Revisited

    Suicide Revisited

Today’s repeat episode is the very first Earrings Off episode from two years ago. Sadly, this subject remains relevant and heart-wrenching. Just this week, the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill announced on World Mental Health Day, that they were  canceling classes. A UNC-Chapel Hill administration representative noted that in the wake of two student suicides in the past month, the university was "taking a moment to acknowledge and reflect on the seriousness of mental health illness and the challenges we face as we wrestle with the stress and pressures of our world today." There continues to be an elevated suicide rate among college-aged students. Today’s discussion will share insight on how the black community too is impacted by suicide. If you or someone you know needs help, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. They can be reached at 800.273.8255.

star️  Having expectations is not the same as having goals, or creating game plans for success. Expectations are the thoughts that tell us, “My life needs to look exactly the way I’m picturing it, and then I’ll be happy.”

star️ We place expectations on ourselves, and we place them on other people, and when life acts on life’s terms and those terms don’t match our expectations, we think that something has gone terribly awry!

star  “Why limit ourselves to our own expectations? The truth is that the Universe is surprising, and often reveals itself in wonderful ways that we would NEVER have expected!”

star “At the root of any expectation lies an unconscious belief that unless our lives look or feel a specific way at a specific time, then it means we are failing, or someone else is failing us.”

star️ What if every time you noticed yourself expecting a certain specific outcome, especially with other people, that you just let it fall away and replaced it with curiosity for where the game of life would lead you next?

    It Starts At Home

Driving in the car with your kids can be an environment that allows for some of the most beautiful conversations!  The other day my sweet daughter asked some beautiful questions on our drive to cheer which led to an amazing conversation.

The conversation was so powerful that I just have to share with you the three things that came up for me.  As parents if we can do these three things consistently with neutral energy we will have a hand in healing this world that currently has so much division and instead create connection.

    #221: Who’s Blocking Your Vision?

    #221: Who’s Blocking Your Vision?

In this Friday Facts episode, if you have a vision that has tapped you on the shoulder, you were worthy of it long before the tap.  The reason you are stuck is because you are trying to figure out the how instead of following the pull. Where are you lacking belief in yourself, what are your limiting beliefs, and recognize that you are not meant to do this on your own.

    In today’s episode we discuss:
    1. Trusting the vision that comes to us, staying in action and being willing to fall on your face is what is required.  You will be fine, just get back up.
    2. The vision is going to require a lot of crappy, messy action to bring it to life, and it will require you to ask for help and receive help from the most incredible people who are ready to come into your life.
    3. When we stay open to the how, it can come together in the most beautiful way possible. This also will require you putting the boundaries in place to bring your vision to life.

#218: You Can Only Buy into One Story at a Time

#218: You Can Only Buy into One Story at a Time

In this Friday Facts episode, I am sharing my thoughts on how we can only buy into or subscribe to one story at a time.  We tend to get stuck on where we have been, what we have lived through and all the challenges we’ve had to experience, and that keeps our energy focused on the past.  That is energy we cannot use to focus on where we are going and how we are moving towards our future.  We can only hold onto one story at a time, holding onto two means we go nowhere and that is not what we are here to do.

    In today’s episode we discuss:
    1. The hold of our past stories and what it looks like to be a victim of our past, instead of recognizing that our stories happened for us to make us who we are meant to be.
    2. How to create a mantra or a way to recognize that we are the ones keeping ourselves stuck in the past.
    3. Shifting our mindset to know that our stories and our experiences are here to help us step into the version of us that can make a massive impact in the world.

#216: Who’s Actually in Your Arena?

In this Monday mindset episode, I am sharing the mindset work process of sharing your story and the resulting judgement that can arise when we start to share our story.  I am sharing one of my tips on how to work through the judgement of others, how to let go of the people who are not even in the arena with you, and how to understand who is not only in your arena, but who is on the arena floor with you.  I share one of my favourite quotes by Theodore Rosevelt, and Brene Brown from Daring Greatly.

    In today’s episode we discuss:
    1. Assessing who is meant to be on the journey with you, and how to work through the judgement piece that arises when you share your story.
    2. What does it mean to be in the arena with you, and who does that describe?
    3. How to not let the people who aren’t even meant to be on your journey, be the reason that you hide in your story.  Your story wasn’t given to you to break you, it was given to you so you could learn the lessons, heal and pay that forward to help others.

The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 90

The Lyrics From Billys Forest Chapter 90
I recently shared with a friend, "While trying to prevent a storm I actually created one." Selected words from two days earlier were misinterpreted and it led to some serious judgement. There seems to be a lot of that going around. Instead of putting focus on the purpose and plan, we've developed this new habit of giving what we feel permission to rein over all things developed. No matter how far off the truth it is, our heart and brain see it as actuality. Instead of offering an open door or simple face to face time conversation. Assumption believes it has just enough evidence to give it permission to be King. We're throwing stones. Not playful skips across a smooth as silk lake surface. We've called in the diggers and they're bringing dump trucks of rocks to our front door. This isn't the first time in history something like this has happened. This dude of faith had returned to the city. The locals instantly brought out someone they had stamped guilty on. The visitor to the city knelt to the ground, wrote something in the sand, then stood up. The accusers were given a thought to hold. Once shared the visitor knelt again and wrote more words in the sand. The crazy day drew to a peaceful closing. I'm a daily writer. Taking the time to listen while documenting something from your heart has an incredible way to keep your palms free of stone throwing. Did this person deserve to have such harsh accusations thrown at them? I'm not the one to judge. Empty your hands and build a path of peace. It actually could start as simply writing something down before igniting your hearts energy.
