    How To Not Hit Back

    How To Not Hit Back

"But I say... Don't hit back." Our world has developed around retaliation from the beginning, but God's Kingdom is not... at least that's what Jesus said. But how difficult is it to actually turn your other cheek when someone has insulted you? In this episode, you'll discover that Jesus gave this command for us to truly follow, and he gave some very practical examples of how to help you make it work in your life. The strategy to learn today is: how to see reconciliation as our first response.

The Palestinian Perspective: A Conversation We Need

The Palestinian Perspective: A Conversation We Need

This special edition episode is a conversation, much needed on the global main stage. For too long, we here in America, have only ever heard one perspective on the Palestinian and Israeli conflict. We are very fortunate to hear from Ramzy, a Palestinian American Man, on the history of Palestinian culture, people, land, and how this conflict began. In this episode we dive deep into the weeds of the issues surrounding the atrocities currently plaguing Palestinian and Israeli citizens and work to shed light on the complexity of colonization. Finally, we are hearing a Palestinian perspective. One rooted in political awareness, understanding, and as much openness and vulnerability as possible. I am infinitely grateful to Ramzy for having this talk with me and I urge you to continue to challenge the media narratives fed to us when searching to understand larger conflicts such as these. Don't forget the words of Ghandi, who said, "An eye for an eye makes the world blind." May this episode bring greater awareness as far and wide as possible, so that we as global citizens, can empower ourselves with information enough to learn and start making whatever changes are needed to bring peace to this land for all. Sit back, open your heart, and enjoy this long overdue conversation. Please subscribe, like, share, and leave a review.

The story of Milk from the Highlands of Tibet

The story of Milk from the Highlands of Tibet

By some counts, at its peak, the Mongol Empire stretched nearly 31 million square kilometres, an area of land roughly the size of the African continent. But what did this Empire led by Genghis Khan eat during the long conquests over highland passes and treachrous mountains? And what could it have to do with a bunch of scientists from the Max Planck instiute of Geoanthropology, looking at the teeth of Tibetans buried thousands of years ago? This week, we travel to the Highlands of Tibet and uncover an alternate history of milk. We discover the lessons it holds as we understand the food choices of the places we travel to.

    Shameless

    Shameless

And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. Joel 2:26

No one likes shame. Embarrassment is something that people tend to stay away from. It can bring much damage to someone’s reputation and life.  The enemy works overtime to bring the people of God to shame. But if you trust in the Lord will you never be ashamed. I really hope you are encouraged by this one!

Beauty: Sense of Pride or Source of Vanity?

Beauty: Sense of Pride or Source of Vanity?

External beauty, let’s face it, is big business in our culture today! And it is filtering over into every phase of our lives--even affecting our relationships.  We are a society being lulled into expectations of external perfection.  Recent studies have found that women are obsessed with their looks. And that obsession  is fueling our anxiety, depression, comparisons and competition with others; increasing insecurity, jealousy, and elevating moments of and not so noticeable incidences of anger and resentment.

This episode invites each of us to think about how society's obsession with how we look is affecting our mental health and offers guidance on how to combat the pitfalls toward external perfection.

Freed Up would love to hear your thoughts on this topic. Please email those to connect@freefilledfavored.com.

What's Love Got To Do With It? - An Examination of 1 Cor. 12-14

What's Love Got To Do With It? - An Examination of 1 Cor. 12-14

Perhaps, there is no greater debate among believers (well, at least one of major ones) as to whether the gifts of the Spirit continue.  Then among those who believe they do continue there is discussion and sometimes argument over which is the most important and/or if there is one gift which is given to all believers.

Another debate among  believers, one that has also led to splits happening, is how a church service should operate.  There are so many different denominations solely because they have different opinions on how a church service should operate.

Now, mix both of those together and what you have is a receipt for disruption, chaos and discord.  Praise the Lord He is a God of peace and order.  Today's program is devoted to addressing these two challenging issues.  Fortunately, God has provided us the answer in His Word.  We will be looking at 1 Corinthians chapters 12-14.  We will see the problems and then we will see the answer - love.  What does love have to do with it? Answer - everything!

Relationships 101 - Pt 3 The Disorganized Attachment Pattern

Relationships 101 - Pt 3 The Disorganized Attachment Pattern

All of us wants to understand more about ourselves and how we fit in relation to others. Arguably, the most useful resource in helping us with this is learning  our attachment styles. Your attachment style was established through the relational interactions in your earliest life experiences with your parents or caregivers. These experiences primarily drive how we relate to others in our adult relationships.

This episode covers in detail the disorganized/fearful-avoidant attachment pattern and some general strategies for moving toward healthier relationships in our lives. This series is part of our year's focus on "making the investment" into healthier, happier relationships.
