    • Technology can expose kids to sexual content at a young age, making it crucial for parents to have open conversations about the consequences and responsibilities associated with sex.
    • Consent is a vital aspect of healthy sexual relationships, and parents should teach their children the importance of obtaining and respecting consent.

Single Mom Laurieann Enright Shares her Journey of Raising Twin Boys both with Autism

Single Mom Laurieann Enright Shares her Journey of Raising Twin Boys both with Autism

Hello and welcome to another episode of the Guilbault Girls Show. I am your host Karen Guilbault, and today’s guest Laurieann Enright

Laurieann is a single parent to John and Nicholas, her beautiful identical twin boys. In February 2017 at the age of 5 they were diagnosed with non-verbal autism, global developmental delays, and intellectual disability. She battled aggressive triple negative breast cancer from 2018-2019, and she’s grateful to still be here to care for her amazing boys who are now 11 years old. During her cancer battle she also went through a nasty divorce. She works full-time as a paralegal to provide for her sons. She also has 3 wonderful adult children. The boys and Laurieann moved back to California this summer to be closer to them.

She soldiers on through her days without complaining because she knows how blessed she is. She’s fueled by grit and grace. Her sons make her laugh even on days when she’s too tired to smile! She thinks of herself as a hermit because it's not practical for her to take the boys anywhere by herself. She makes their home life as full as she can.

"Walk Gently and Speak Kindly" Thoughts on Single Motherhood—with Tammica Dowd

"Walk Gently and Speak Kindly" Thoughts on Single Motherhood—with Tammica Dowd

What got you through the hardships of your childhood?

When Tammica Dowd was young and living in a group home, at times she’d be locked in a closet by a counselor. In order to keep her mind strong and pass time, she envisioned what she wanted for her future.

    -Graduate high school.

    -Marry her dream guy.

-Have five children who’d never go through what she went through.

    -Go to Maui.

    -Win a Grammy.

All her goals but one were achieved! (But don’t count her out for that Grammy.)

She did not see divorce coming.

Now, as a single mother of five young children, she has advice and experience to share, including how helping her children through life events has allowed for personal healing.

Sometimes healing comes with helping someone through the experience that caused our trauma.

Join me and Tammica Dowd, as she speaks to the shame of single motherhood.

Dating As A Single Parent Ep 5

In our first episode in this series focusing on dating as a single parent, I share some of my own personal experience in preparing myself to date and lessons that I have learned during this process.

There are special considerations that single parents have to be aware of when opening themselves up to date, especially being honest with the reasons why they want to start dating.  I realize that my experience and insight are my own, so for the remaining episodes, I invited some of my friends to come on and share their journey as well.

Growing Up In A Single Parent Home Bonus Session

As we are coming to a close with our series interviewing guests who have grown up in single-parent homes, I wanted to get a "female" perspective on growing up in a single-parent home.  In this episode, I am speaking with Natasha Cozart, who not only grew up in a single mom home but is also an amazing single mom to 6 wonderful kids.  Natasha's perspective on her childhood was different from what I have heard from other kids growing up in single-parent homes, however, it was refreshing.  Listen in as Natasha's childhood shapes who she is today and how she parents her children as a single mother.

As the best-selling author of Ratchet Mom, Natasha Cozart is often referred to as a modern-day superwoman. In business, she has partnered directly with CEOs, authors, celebrities, and entrepreneurs as well as experts in varied fields such as Internet Marketing, finance, relationships, spirituality, health, business, beauty industry, and theology to produce content, products, events, websites, and marketing promotions to take their businesses to the next level.

Ep6 Cursing at and round kids

Ep6 Cursing at and round kids

In this episode we are dissecting the controversial topic of cursing at and around kids.  Acknowledging that there are levels to swearing, there is definitely repercussion to using profanity around and at children that could be viewed as verbal abuse.  I reference an article on Fatherly.com where Dr. Benjamin Bergen explains what happens to the body on a cellular level when people swear and the effects it can have of kids.  We examines the levels of swearing based on two clips from K.Lala104's instagram account where she is being pranked by her son and nephew.  And let's not forget about listening to explicit music in the car with the kids.  Enjoy!
