Full disclosure: I love John Waite! When he was making the rounds promoting his documentary "John Waite: The Hard Way" I jumped at the chance to speak with the legend. Not only is he super talented, he's also a very nice guy....which I speak of at the beginning.

We didn't have a whole lot of time, so we pretty much stuck to the basics, along with the documentary producer, Mike J. Nichols. Since he's loves the intimacy of playing on stage, I asked him how this ranked releasing a video of his life. You can watch his answer below, as he also talks about how this project came to be, and more.

James 1:1-8

Andrew and Edwin kick of James's letter by digging into the blessings that come from trials and tribulations. We are to count it all joy. It is easier to do that when we think not so much about the trials but about where they grow us.

Hebrews 5:11-14

The entire book of Hebrews points us back to the Old Testament to get its original readers and us to hang on to Jesus instead of going back to the Old Testament. Today, Andrew and Edwin take us all the way back to the beginning to see the warning that we must not be like Eve.

While life is certainly filled with external trials, it is even more full of internal trials.   James calls these temptations and warns us that they only lead to death.  Our only hope in the face of this death is the good gift of new birth that God offers through the gospel.   It is the joy of this salvation that sustains us when we meet trials (external and internal) of various kinds.

In this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss What The Bible Says About Jesus' Temptation in the wilderness where Satan tried to get Him to sin. We note what the definition is to tempt someone. We look at what things are that tempt are.  We talk about a particular Bible passage that specifies the three forms of temptation that Satan uses to tempt us to sin and note that Satan used these to tempt Jesus in the wilderness.  These lusts or desires are the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride or vainglory of life. We note how Jesus was able to resist those temptations and not sin. We discuss the scriptures in Hebrews that tells us that Jesus was tempted in the same ways that we are, yet did not sin. We look at the scriptures that declare Jesus to be Divine , Deity, or God and also those that say He was human as well and was subject to all of the physical and emotional aspects that we are. We complete this episode by noting that Jesus did resist the Devil's attempts and how He was able to do so and note that He  has provided us with an example to follow in resisting Satan today when we are tempted. We note that Jesus' temptation also provides us with the assurance that He understands what we go through and that we can turn to Him in our time of need. Take about 30 minutes to follow what we have to say. Have your bible handy so you can verify that we are following what the Bible says. There is a transcript provided for you convenience.

Every single human to walk this earth has lost the battle against temptation.  Temptation can be tricky.  The things that tempt us are always appealing, and it seems like it's not a big deal at the moment.  Although temptation comes in many different forms it has the ability to destroy us, and derail our walk with God.  So how are we to beat it? Is it even possible? In this scripture study, we look at the epistle of James and he clues us in on what temptation truly is and what we can do to beat it.

Psalm 11

Foundation #2 is a shocking one. One of the reasons things go from bad to worse even while the righteous pray for God's deliverance and judgment is because He tests everyone, including the righteous. This testing is for our good. Edwin and Andrew talk about this shocking foundation and why it is actually good for the righteous.
