He is the author of several books including the Authenticity series. Check out the latest episode of our Conversational Selling podcast to learn more about Emanuel.

In this episode, Nancy and Emanuel discuss the following:

    • Emanuel’s understanding of why Gen Z is different and should be treated differently.
    • Developing an individual marketing plan for Gen Z.
    • The marketing mistakes to avoid with Gen Z.
    • What motivated Emanuel to write “Authentic Marketing in the Age of AI”?
    • The next big thing that will happen after the AI era.
    • Will AI replace sales representatives?
    • Emanuel's preference and recommendations for AI tools.

    Key Takeaways:

    • Gen Z is truly the first digital natives.
    • Gen Z has seen every trick, pop-up, and hack marketing technique since they could understand those things.
    • We can sell on emotion in a deeper way than corporations do.
    • Video and building a content calendar are more holistic than just product and product announcements.
    • We still need human connection, and we need to be able to think together, that's where the AIs are not able to do that yet.

"I've seen a lot of bad marketing over my entire career. But Gen Z won't stand it. The first thing is you've got two and a half seconds, less than a goldfish, which has almost a six-second attention span. So, you've got to bring either something very humorous or identifiable to the target persona you're going after. It has to feel that it's real and transparent and that it's something to engage with emotionally as well as intellectually. We have to treat them more so than other cohorts, treat them as individuals, and speak directly to their concerns." – EMANUEL.

"I'm amazed right now at the synthetic humans being produced by voice and video. And so, I think there will be in the next two years, the number of synthetic influencers will overtake the actual human influencers. So, I think that's when it is. You know, there are tools. If you're familiar with air.ai, it's an AI-generated outbound phone call system that has AI-created voice, and they're able to respond in such a clean and smooth way that it's, for the first time, I'm a little scared. " – EMANUEL.

“I want everybody to take two minutes every Monday at 8 a.m. to investigate their cell phone and record a video about something important in your life or your company's life. Send that video to your marketing department and get it turned into a month's worth of content.” – EMANUEL.

Marketing Checkup: Is Self-Gatekeeping Holding You Back?

Are you gatekeeping yourself? It's an interesting question, isn't it?

In this episode, I cover a problem I see with clients repeatedly, which is that they are often gatekeeping their incredible skills/story/knowledge/perspectives.

    I talk through:
    - How and why this often happens
    - How authentically being yourself can set you free with your marketing
    - AND take you through a purposeful exercise to see if you are actually gatekeeping yourself in your business and marketing.

How I took over my town in 48 hours

How I took over my town in 48 hours

New digs in Montana brought some eye-opening lessons. In Cali, warp-speed internet is a given. In Montana? Not so much. They're all about family time, not internet speed records. Cue slowest internet ever. Podcasts and Zoom calls? Forget about it.

Facing a virtual event deadline, my Airbnb office dream crumbled. Co-working spaces? A six-month wait! Panic mode on. But this chaos led to a major reality check. Being an online entrepreneur made me forget real-life connections. So, in true Montana style, I decided to meet everyone.

Fast forward, I met Christian, a Marine vet turned restaurant owner. Deep convo, connection made. Co-working owner met, conference room snagged. Then, a local angel offered her house for my virtual event chaos. Networking jackpot!

In 36 hours, I turned challenges into wins. Met five new friends, got a conference room, a sweet house, a caterer, and real estate help. The power of relationships in Montana saved me stress and added a sense of community. The lesson? In-person connections are gold. As entrepreneurs, we're surrounded by potential solutions, help, and support. Just gotta initiate, cross that line, and build the community ourselves. Time to leverage those relationships!

    12. All Successful Businesses Are Direct. Have The Courage To Be Firm, Confident, & Authentic In Your Business Offerings.

Being direct is essential to earning trust, maintaining a relationship, and ultimately getting sales.

A lack of directness suggests weakness and uncertainty, which can be a disconnect to ready buyers.

How do we become more direct with our messaging, branding, positioning, marketing, and selling?

If people don't know what you want...

If people don't know what you do...

If people don't know what you offer...

If people don't know the problem that you solve...

If people don't know you exist...

    You can't make any money.

    You can't grow a business.

    You'll never win.

You need to be direct and broadcast who you are.

    This too Shall Pass

    This too Shall Pass

Hey, beautiful listeners! Whether it's Monday or any other day, I've got a vital message for you. I want to delve into a powerful phrase: "This too shall pass." In my 12 years of coaching entrepreneurs, I've witnessed the greatest challenge is feeling alone during tough times. I emphasize that storms are inevitable, but the key is not facing them alone.

Drawing inspiration from nature, I highlight how a buffalo herd faces storms head-on because they understand it's the quickest way through. Entrepreneurship doesn't have to be a solitary journey. The adversities we encounter—ad account shutdowns, unsuccessful offers, revenue uncertainties—are part of the entrepreneurial landscape. Remember, you can't read the label from inside the jar.

Sharing personal experiences of navigating storms, I stress the importance of reaching out for support. Acknowledge the challenge, create space for yourself, and then seek help. The human experience involves modulation, a range of highs and lows, making the entrepreneurial journey a unique gift.

Opening up and asking for help can be tough, but it's often the catalyst for breakthroughs. I share how seeking support has played a pivotal role in rebuilding my business amid challenges, creating monumental results.

The core message is clear: you're not alone. The podcast, the community, the collective support exist to ensure you never feel isolated. Storms will come, but we're here to guide, advise, and navigate them together. Your secret to success lies in leaning on the power of community and connection, even when it feels tempting to go at it alone.

Remember, this too shall pass. Reach out when needed, ask for help when necessary, and embrace the collective strength of our entrepreneurial community.

Stefanie McAuley: Let's talks about privilege, authentic marketing and COVID-era habits to keep.

Stefanie McAuley: Let's talks about privilege, authentic marketing and COVID-era habits to keep.

(Recorded on June 10) Marketing maven, and lovely human, Stefanie McAuley is back for another round of girl talk. Stef first came on the podcast back in January, and the world has completely changed since then. In this episode, we dig into privilege, authenticity, good (and bad habits) gained during COVID, and Stef also shares some savvy marketing tips for our current climate. (Stef's neighbor also makes a random appearance (think Friends), which was immensely entertaining.)

Stef is a writer and marketing specialist who has worked with some of the biggest brands around the globe like Nike, Nestle, Coca-Cola, Stella Artois, Tesco and Benefit Cosmetics. Not one to sit still, she's lived on three continents and travelled to fifty countries. Since coming back to Vancouver in 2015, Stef worked for PressReader, the world’s leading digital newsstand. As of early 2019, she jumped into her own business, Broad World, with both feet. She started sharing her stories years ago on Broad World’s blog, inspired by her travels, life’s lessons, and the incredible women she came across. Check it out – you might find a story that lights a fire in you, too.
