    166: Midnight margaritas! | Practical Magic (1998)

    166: Midnight margaritas! | Practical Magic (1998)

What a cute little movie! A great way to end off this October season and a perfect vibe for this Halloween! This is my first time watching this one and although I feel like I've seen it through film stills on Tumblr already. Nothing could have prepared me for how I want to LIVE inside of this movie. In the house, garden, and especially with the coolest Aunts in the galaxy.

Me and Mikey covered this one and even though he's seen it multiple times, it's still every bit as exciting. Our only gripes were that the story seemed a bit weird in the middle. While we were hoping for more of a Thelma and Louise type vibe it went a bit more Exorcist. We cover the amazing fashion and incredible resume of the costume designer, Judianna Makovsky and obsess over another successful 90s soundtrack.

Off-topic rants include: Mikey's Haunted House search, movie studio interference, and putting respect on Bella Swan's name and my complete shock in finding out Mikey is Team Jacob..the audacity!

2018: Life in Pieces / TV Series that Ended Too Soon

2018: Life in Pieces / TV Series that Ended Too Soon

We're closing the yearbook on 2018 with a criminally underappreciated TV series, Life in Pieces. This show contained a fantastic cast including James Brolin, Dianne Wiest, Colin Hanks, and Betsy Brandt, among others. And if you liked Modern Family, you would be sure to love this too. We break down the cast, a classic episode, and much more.

While fantastic, the series only ran 3 1/2 seasons. Giff, who chose this one, felt it was too short of a run. So we decided to draft our favorite TV series that ended too soon. Who was the lucky one to get first pick, and therefore, Freaks and Geeks? Find out now!

If you enjoy the show, please rate and review us on the iTunes/Apple Podcasts app or wherever you listen. Or better yet, tell a friend to listen!

YNFA 033: The Lost Boys, or Beach Blanket Blood Flow

Fluff up your hair, grease up your closest saxophone player and run away with Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland in The Lost Boys (1987). How do you tell someone you’re 40 without saying you’re 40? Is this the horniest vampire movie ever made? And if so, why did they cast such a baby-faced Corey Haim? And why is Corey Feldman doing a Rambo voice? We’d tell you if we weren’t succumbing to peer pressure to become a creature of the night.

Ep. 92: The Lost Boys (Featuring Beth from Made-For-TV Movie Club Podcast)

Ep. 92: The Lost Boys (Featuring Beth from Made-For-TV Movie Club Podcast)

Zo is joined by his special guest returning co-host Beth from the Made-For-TV Movie Club Podcast and they are thrust into a new world of danger with their only guidance coming from the music of a keen saxophone. What they find are a bunch of young punks causing trouble on the boardwalk, but there's more to this small gang of young ruffians that meet the eye. Could they, in fact, be vampires?

The Lost Boys — Episode 62

The Lost Boys — Episode 62

Vampires have always been a huge staple in horror but a script that first began circulating in the mid 80s that envisioned child-like characters more in the same vein as Peter Pan, who never grew old and could never die but were far from the bloodsucking fiends best known throughout cinema.

The film was essentially capitalizing on the popularity of “The Goonies,” which had come out two years earlier and Richard Donner, the same director for that movie, was initially attached to this one as well.

When he dropped off the project to go direct a little movie called “Lethal Weapon,” Joel Schumacher was hired to lead the film but he had a much different idea for the project.

Writer Jeffrey Boam was brought on to rework the script with teenage leads with a sexier and more dangerous vibe than the original version of the film.

With a group of up and coming stars cast in the lead roles including Jason Patric and Kiefer Sutherland, the film ended up becoming one of the most iconic horror movies of all time while also serving as the inspiration for dozens of books, comics and movies for decades to come.

In the latest episode of Rewind of the Living Dead, we’re going to put the taxidermy in the closet, order some Chinese food while sharpening our stakes as we look back on the 1987 film “The Lost Boys”…

The Lost Boys (1987): "Sexy, Sexy"

We can’t believe it’s almost over, but we’re closing out Pride Month here at Spooky Tuesday with the film that’s simultaneously the least canonically gay and most subtextually gay out of the films we covered this month, The Lost Boys. Featuring the two Coreys, Kiefer Sutherland, and Richard Gilmore himself, this ‘80s classic teaches us — as cohost Monica put it — the ever important lesson: Motorcycles are a gateway drug.
