How I Embrace Risk & Achieve The Greatest Rewards

CLASH OF THE TITANS - Go To moorevleeds.com to find out more

Your Host, Rob Moore, goes on Ben Morton Leadership to share his experience of being an entrepreneur and the ups and downs that come with it. Rob emphasizes the importance of committing to your business and doing whatever it takes to make it work. He shares his own experience of being in massive debt and feeling ashamed, but using that as motivation to start his own business. Do not wait for external events to create commitment and accountability; Rather create it yourselves. Say yes when you're on the fence, and figure out how later on. Overall, being an entrepreneur can be challenging, but with commitment and persistence, it can be a fulfilling and successful journey.

    BEST MOMENTS

    - "Looking back, the only risk would have been to not start my own business."

    - "I'm proud that in 17 years, I've never gone bust. I've never sunk anyone's money. I've never lost investor money. I'm proud of that. And I don't want that on my conscience."

    - "in order to write a good song, you've got to write a lot of shit songs."

    - "So actually getting started and being in the field of play, that's actually the biggest decision."

    - "I believe one of the greatest sources of unhappiness is unrealistic expectations of other human beings."

    - "even if everything is falling to shit around me, I'm not going to use anyone as a punch bag."

    - "managing and channeling and controlling my emotions would give me great rewards in business. Oh, when it just so happens to give you great rewards in life"

    - "That's not being honest. That's being a shit leader."

Not matter if you're aged three or 103, you can learn to be happier using pretty much the same strategies. Sesame Workshop and its furry friends have been teaching "emotional ABCs" alongside literacy and numeracy for decades. So in collaboration with The Happiness Lab, Elmo and his friends will be helping us present fun and accessible happiness hacks for listeners of all ages.

To kick things off, Dr Laurie Santos sat down to discuss why it's never too early to learn about wellbeing with Sesame Workshop's CEO, Steve Youngwood; the Chief Production and Creative Development Officer, Kay Wilson Stallings… and everyone’s favorite furry, red monster, Elmo.

Unlocking the Science of Longevity with Peter Attia, MD

Unlocking the Science of Longevity with Peter Attia, MD
Today we explore science-backed truths behind healthspan extension and healthy aging with Dr. Peter Attia. Peter is a graduate of Stanford School of Medicine, a former surgeon, and a world-renowned physician who has dedicated his life to understanding the science of human health and the art of living a longer, more fulfilling life. The occasion for Peter’s return is the publication of his new book, Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity—a groundbreaking primer that challenges the conventional medical thinking on aging and reveals a new approach to preventing chronic disease and extending long-term health. Today’s conversation offers a short overview of all of the subjects covered in the book including the roles that exercise, nutrition, and sleep play in preventing or delaying the onset of the primary conditions that unnecessarily end most people’s lives too soon. But in large part, we focus on the story of Peter’s emotional health during a dark time and the critical role that emotional well-being plays in the quest for a longer, healthier life. Note: As a gift to our listeners, Peter has generously offered 10 signed copies of this fascinating book for us to give away. Today's episode of the GaryVee Audio Experience is a Q&A I did in Mesa, Arizona at the season opener for the New Jersey 5s Major League pickleball team! I answered some really awesome questions that cover topics like, promoting positivity in the face of cynicism, writing a book on parenting, when I realized I had a duty to promote positivity, turning an apparel brand into a media company and how to deal with sudden adversity when things are going so well.

SLO MO REWIND: Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor on Your Only Job as a Human Being

SLO MO REWIND: Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor on Your Only Job as a Human Being

In the second Slo Mo Rewind, I revisit my life changing chat with one of my heroes, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor. She is a Harvard-trained and published neuroscientist. In 1996 she experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain causing her to lose the ability to walk, talk, read, write, or recall any of her life. Her memoir, My Stroke of Insight, documenting her experience with stroke and eight-year recovery, spent 63 weeks on the New York Times nonfiction bestseller list and is still routinely the #1 book about strokes on Amazon.

In 2008 she gave the first TED talk that ever went viral on the Internet, which now has well over 26 million views. Also in 2008, Dr. Jill was chosen as one of Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” and was the premiere guest on Oprah Winfrey’s “Soul Series” webcast.

In her newest book, Whole Brain Living: The Anatomy of Choice and the Four Characters That Drive Our Life, Dr. Jill debunks the myths that we use only 10% of our brain as well as the idea that our right brain hemisphere is our emotional brain, while our left brain houses our rational thinking.

    Listen as we discuss:

    • What is 'Whole Brain Living'?
    • What she's learned since her hit TED talk.
    • The four characters of the brain:
    • Character 1: Left thinking tissue is the rational brain that defines the boundaries of ourselves as individuals, has language, and seeks material gain.
    • Character 2: Left emotional tissue that sounds the alarm to protect us against the unfamiliar.
    • Character 3: Right emotional tissue that lives to only experience in the present moment without comparison or time.
    • No conflict can be solved by two Character 2's, and the present moment is perfect.
    • Character 4: Right thinking tissue that embodies the thinking consciousness of the universe, knows no boundaries, and exists only to love, be grateful, and experience blissful euphoria. Purely in awe and blissful euphoria.
    • Is love a thought or an emotion?
    • Our first job as human beings is to love one another. Period.
    • The left brain should not be the boss.
    • The B.R.A.I.N. Huddle
    • How Jill gave her TED talk because she wanted us to love and revere each other, not her.
    • Character 4 is who we are. The others are so noisy.
    • Her new book, Whole Brain Living, is her roadmap to accomplish her life's work - the reason why she recovered from her stroke.
    • Psychedelics can induce similar states that bring us to Character 4.
    • Character 2 is the one that needs to go into rehab in order to break addictions.
    • Is there a masculine and feminine divide, or is just a cultural construct?
    • Life knows that the present moment is fabulous.

Episode 50: ADHD and emotional regulation

Episode 50: ADHD and emotional regulation

Episode 50, we've hit a half-century! Continuing ADHD Awareness Month 2022, this latest dog tod of an episode discusses emotional dysregulation in ADHD, including robotically and unemotionally delivered psychoeducation from Alex the Psychoeducation Monkey,  personal reflections and the usual Gaby Logan-laced last section. The usual game of 'What has James lost, forgotten or mislaid this week?" continues to annoy Alex, whilst correspondence from 'Robert from Kidderminster'?  continues AND Alex butchers messages from real listeners as usual.   James has spider paralysis and Alex talks about penguins...

Reducing our stressors to help emotional dysregulation and RSD

Reducing our stressors to help emotional dysregulation and RSD

Emotional dysregulation and RSD are two of the most challenging elements of ADHD, yet it's often not flagged up when we first learn about ADHD.

In this week's episode, Kate talks to Marcy Caldwell, a clinical psychologist and passionate ADHD advocate based in Philadelphia, PA. Marcy is the founder of ADDept.org, a blog and digital resource helping adults with ADHD create a life that works for, not against, their brains.

During today's episode, Kate and Marcy speak about:

    • Noticing your stress markers
    • Recognising how YOUR emotions work
    • Overstimulation and noise
    • Strategies to help emotional dysregulation
    • How emotions can derail us
    • How habit changes and awareness can help us with overstimulation
    • Using EFT tapping to help emotional dysregulation
    • How your emotional patterns can play out
    • What is RSD, and how does it show up in ADHD?
    • The impact RSD has on our emotions, productivity and beliefs
    • Tips for tracking our cycles, noticing when we're more vulnerable and regulating emotions
    • Honouring ourselves during our more sensitive times and carving out time on our own

Here's a link to Kate's Tap 'n Talk Technique she mentions in the podcast, as well as her other resources to help manage ADHD-related emotional dysregulation and RSD by using EFT/Tapping.
