If you've had as much trouble as I've had finding the right info for proper fueling, this episode is for you. Lauren Thomas (LT) is a sports dietician that works primarily with tactical teams/special ops teams based in the nation's capital. Prior to that, she worked as a sports dietician for the University of Georgia's college athletes. LT provides concrete tips on fueling to help you perform at your best. I've already adjusted my own training to include her recommendations and have noticed almost instant improvements. Enjoy!

She thought she was training for the challenges of triathlon, but as life played out she realize she was training for a much bigger challenge.

You will hear how she has improved in both of those.

Then she shares how she is figuring out how to manage through her new challenges in life.

I know you will love hearing how Laurie has evolved and elevated in every area of her life in the last year and half since you joined Team Elevate.

Episode 168: Tom Fleck & Triathlon Tips For Newbies

“Don’t forget to look around and take it all in. Enjoy the moment. Breathe the fresh air, look at the mountains, and appreciate that you’re healthy enough to be out there doing it.”

On this week’s episode of the Eat Green Make Green Podcast I sit down with Coach Tom Fleck. Coach Fleck is a Boston-based triathlete, triathlete coach, and Founder of Here & Now Fitness. We talk briefly about Tom’s races since we last spoke (Episode 150) and then I ask every question I have about racing as I set out to take on Ironman Timberman 70.3 on August 22nd. We talk about tactics for the swim, how to transition from the swim to the bike, how to go through aid stations while biking, why you want to have steady output on the bike, how much and when to consume nutrition, how to slowly build on the run, why managing my heart rate is the most important aspect of racing, and Coach Tom’s predictions on my time for Ironman Timberman 70.3.

You are made to do HARD things, (or it is too hard).

You are made to do HARD things, (or it is too hard).

This week we discuss three points about our thoughts around “hard things”.

1- Finding evidence that you can do hard things.

2- It is just a thought, and what are you making it mean?

3 - Two questions to ask yourself:

a-Why are you choosing to call it hard?

b-Why are you willing to go through the hard?

Decide if you are “made for hard” or if you decide that “it is too hard”.
