Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Our eighth consecutive trek through the Forbidden Zone finds us excavating, of all places, an overgrown San Francisco which is, you guessed it!, infested with murderous primates. (You'd think we'd have learned our lesson by now but...alas...) Listen to our introduction as we introduce a new recurrent segment of the show: the Blue Plate Special. In this initial offering, we load up on a trio of neo-noirs (Body Heat, Trouble in Mind, and Reminiscence) that has us pondering both past modes of the form and how it might exactly realize itself in the years to come. Upon finally arriving to Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, yet another exploration of chimpanzee-on-human violence is had, this time in relation to how this new age of CGI at once adds to and subtracts from the potential of the series that refuses to go gentle into that good night. Feel free to skip to 2:04:34 for the beginning of our audio commentary. Episode 223: Guess "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

Episode 223: Guess "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?"

This episode we watch "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" the well-loved 1988 Robert Zemeckis hit that still holds up today. Shockingly, the animation still looks great. Even more shockingly, it's still funny. To say it aged well would be doing it a disservice. It just hasn't aged. But we have and that's gross. We pair it with a 2013 Killibinbin Seduction Cabernet Sauvignon. This isn't the first time we've tried Killibinbin and it probably won't be the last.

    Metacritic Score: 83/100

Movie Sync Notes: We watch the movie on Disney+. We start "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" 7:00 into the pod, push play on part two 1:09:25 into the pod, and push play on part three 1:28:12 into the pod.

Disney’s Alien TV show takes place on Earth, set to drop on FX on Hulu…

Two weeks ago, we pondered what if David Cronenberg adapted Vampire Hunter to live action and this week we hear his working on a new movie with Viggo Mortensen called Crimes of the Future. Uncertain at this point if he is remaking his own movie from 1970 or a new story,

Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are in negotiations to play Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz in Amazon and Aaron Sorkin’s Being the Ricardos

Out May 7th 15 THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT BIGFOOT (#1 WILL BLOW YOUR MIND!) and we got the director here! This week the boys take a look at a Robert Zemeckis film released just a year before Back to the Future.  It's an interesting film but does it have the same feel close to 40 years later?

    The Kominsky Method - Serie

    The Kominsky Method - Serie

Our second ep in a row with the I Don't Even Own A Television crew features JW Friedman -- and a much better, fizzier film all around, despite dragging us back to Nawlins and almost going full zydeco. This "nearly totally frictionless" caper is "a happier flavor of so-so" than we anticipated, but we still have questions, like whether the Coens are secret Quaidheads, if/how Herbert Ross directs his actors, what an Ocean's Two would look like, and why we're being punished with a combination of Vince McMahon hair, Reagan voice, and Trump smug smile on DQ. Get your best pleat euphemisms ready; it's an all-new Quaid In Full. Ep 203: Bert Kreischer "Put Your Damn Clothes On" Chris Distefano "Edibles!"

Because of the Coronavirus decided to flee nyc with my family.  Honestly, don't know when we'll be back.  The whole world is changing right in front of our eyes.  Please stay safe and take care of your family.  On this episode I talk about the Coronavirus a bit before talking about Chris Distefano telling the famous edibles story on Comedy Central's Comedy Cellar show.  Also, talk about Bert Kreischer talking to Jason Biggs about the famous Opie and Anthony bit, "Hey Kathleen Turner!  Put your god damn clothes on!"  Finally, for the last time for awhile I finish up the podcast from my window as the sun comes up answering questions from my YouTube Live.

Episode 106: Why So "Serial Mom"?

Episode 106: Why So "Serial Mom"?

This episode we dip into the John Waters classic "Serial Mom." It's so fun and so quotable, even if the quotes don't always fit into regular everyday conversations. We paired this movie with a bottle of Mommy's Time Out Pinot Grigio, because Beverly Sutphin definitely needs a time out. Movie Sync Notes: We start the movie 5:10 into the pod, push play on part two at the 10:15 mark, and start part three at 1:08:44.

    Who Framed Roger Rabbit? (1988)

Episode 51 - Peggy Sue Got Married (1986)

Episode 51 - Peggy Sue Got Married (1986)

Relax. Don't do Nic. When you wanna go through Nic.

What an episode. What a film. The boys watched 1986's "Peggy Sue Got Married." Starring a young Kathleen Turner. A younger, wilder Nic Cage. And directed by Nic's revered uncle Franny Ford Copes himself. It...was a movie. Certainly was that.

Before they travel back in time, the lads discuss Brian's horniness for a particular December holiday, Brock spins a yarn about being an extra in a film shoot (with a secret), and they regale the audience with tales of their own high school reunion.

Let's get into it. After you...
