Takeaways & Reflections | Be Your Own Hero

Takeaways & Reflections | Be Your Own Hero

We are all going to die. However, none of us know when, although some may know how (as with a terminal illness).

One thing we can do for ourselves and our loved ones, not knowing when our last day will come, is to prepare for it. We will spare our loved ones from making many complex (and conflicting) decisions. You can be your own hero and that of your loved ones by taking ownership of your life as you're living and in death.

Being your own hero means that sometimes, it pays to take chances and take your shot. It means advocating for yourself, creating boundaries, and accepting the consequences of your choices. It's an act of choosing what is in your best interest and of service to your well-being.

Being your hero demonstrates self-love and, in turn, shows others what's possible too.

No one can live your life for you; unless you do something about it, others will undoubtedly plan your exit, which may or may match your end-of-life wishes. And we are so afraid to talk about death and have these very important issues with loved ones.

This begs the question, are we more afraid of dying or living?

Living Your Most Authentic Life and Following Your Heart with Meaghan Mullis

Living Your Most Authentic Life and Following Your Heart with Meaghan Mullis

Coming out in a small town in Massachusetts back in 2006 wasn't exactly the easiest thing to do. At a young age, Meaghan knew who she was and what she wanted in life but being raised Irish Catholic put her at a crossroads when it came to being her most authentic self. When she couldn't bear it any longer, Meaghan decided to turn to God. The words of a priest that day in that church changed the trajectory of her life forever. Fast forward to the day Meaghan meets Jayme. The story of how the universe brought them together is amazing.  Meaghan has recently moved across the country to live in a completely unfamiliar state with Jayme and her description of the culture shock is hilarious. But her love and appreciation for Kansas and the people who live there makes you want to pack your bags and drive out for a visit. Meaghan is a true example of how living your most authentic life and following your heart can accelerate everything and bring you more happiness and fulfillment than you ever could have imagined. A true, in a rush, Bostonian is now learning the value of going with the flow and letting the universe take you where you're meant to go. Meaghan's positivity and outlook on life is an inspiration. Have a listen and share with your family and friends.

Takeaways & Reflections | Grief & Missed Opportunities

Takeaways & Reflections | Grief & Missed Opportunities

The one thing I found that my guests Marty Cooper and Ken Ross have in common is that they both embody optimism.

Marty can't imagine life without learning and without feeling hope for the future. While Ken, in all of his traveling and adventures, never worries about potential adverse outcomes.

Both are optimistic in their way, and both are wonderful examples of what it means to live a life that you'd do over again and not be bored.

This is why these two episodes fit perfectly to dig into the topic of grief as it relates to missed opportunities. Because, I bet neither Marty nor Ken can imagine what their life would be like, or would have been like all these years, had they not jumped feet first into opportunities and taken a chance (on themselves or others).

While deep in grief, we often can't see the opportunities before us. Throughout various milestones or phases of our lives, we may not be open to opportunities due to timing or simply aren't ready. And deep in grief, even if we recognize an opportunity when we see it, we're so often feeling beaten down, we simply don't have the energy, mental fortitude, or the tenacity to take a chance on ourselves and jump on those opportunities.

    Key Largo Reboot

    Key Largo Reboot

This episode unfolds like a classic Bogart cinematic movie. Have you ever been with someone so inspiring that their enthusiasm rubbed off on you? In today’s episode this happens to Paul during a very delicate part of his life. Escaping a failing documentary and personal threats left Paul in shreds. He needs an escape. It was the summer of 2013 and Paul attends a film festival in the Florida Keys: The Humphrey Bogart Film Festival. Desperate for a Bogart style adventure, Paul cynically squinted his eyes and set his sights on Key Largo and an event that renewed his state of mind for years & years to come.   • Being inspired by others who care.

    Double-Edge Nature of Social Media

    Double-Edge Nature of Social Media

Nowadays we communicate constantly, but we struggle to do it effectively: how something so natural turns out to be so hard? In today’s podcast we are joined by Jacqui Zadik, a Canadian freelance writer and communication expert who shares with us some of her knowledge in interacting with others.  Jacqui invites us to  find new ways to connect with one another in a higher and more respectful way in order to have a positive and effective communication.

    Highlights:

    • The importance of  actively listening to the other person or carefully reading a text message during a conversation in order to understand correctly what the other person is trying to say  and not jump into mistaken conclusions
    • Jacqui strongly believes that whenever possible, it’s best to have verbal communication over phone or voice message because it’s much more intimate and understandable than having a simple text conversation.
    • Because of technology, Jacqui believes that most conversations are held over text messages or emails, and deeper face-to-face  conversations are lacking.
    • Trusting in  your own abilities, talents and believing in yourself should encourage you to take chances and not holding back because of fear anymore.

To learn more about Jacqui and her work, follow her on Instagram or you can find her on LinkedIn

I'm moving into an RV & answering all your questions about it

I'm moving into an RV & answering all your questions about it

My husband and I recently made a big, life-changing decision: we are selling our home, most of our things and extra vehicle, and moving into an RV for the foreseeable future. The last weekend of May we were sitting in our living room, speaking out loud about how we wanted more adventure in our lives, and then this idea bubbled forth. We immediately started getting excited and concluded with “why wouldn’t we do this?” So, we are. I’m a nomad at heart and Sam is down for pretty much anything, so Next Chapter, here we come. We will be documenting our adventures on this podcast and also on youtube. Links below.
