    Ep. 211: Keep On Truckin'

It’s 2024 and your humble hosts have been persuaded by the good podcasting people to keep on truckin’. Therefore, we bring you an episode full of bands devoted to naming themselves after the almighty diesel guzzlin’, 600 horsepower pullin’, multi-axle haulin’ hell on wheels known as trucks! This episode is, obviously, brought to you by our resident gearhead: Mr. Robert Harrison.

New to InObscuria? It’s all about digging up obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal from one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we are digging and hauling by featuring bands whose names contain the word truck… I know, it’s a bit out there. Thanks, Robert! We hope that we turn you on to something new!

    Songs this week include:

    1. Truck - “Make Hay” from Exploring The Wah (2022)
    2. Truckfighters - “Hawkshaw” from (2016)
    3. Monster Truck - “Thundertruck” from True Rockers (2018)
    4. Bad Möthertrückers - “Crucified” from Crucified - Single (2019)
    5. Truckers - “Truckers” from Leave Me Alone (1995)
    6. Gruntruck - “It’s Alright” from Gruntruck (2017)
    7. Derek Trucks Band - “Alright” from Out Of The Madness (1998)

Howard Stern announces to his dwindling audience that he is woke and loves it. SO sorry to all the hardcore Stern fans but Howie was always this guy.  Also, Louis Ck controversy over what he said about America and the immigration problem, Russell Brand is guilty, crawling around looking for diamonds, crazy Barry Williams aka Greg Brady story from the Opie and Anthony Show, my ex girlfriend was a real treat, one of the last things Patrice O'neal did on the Opie and Anthony Show and do you believe in God?

Episode 32 - Kevin Brennan, Vic Henley, Chris Distefano 11/16

I now cherish the last year of radio I did especially with the passing of my dear friends Carl Ruiz and Vic Henley.  I was able to come to the realization why I went into radio all those years ago.  It was for the fun and pure joy of it.  The last year was filled with ugliness, drama and a ton of laughter.  Me, Carl Ruiz, Vic Henley and Sherrod Small had the time of our lives on and off the radio show.  Our close friendships was on full display.  The last year also saw Carl Ruiz blossom into a superstar which led me to do the Opie Radio podcast with him.  A special thanks to Erock, Clubsoda Kenny, Paul and Louis for going on this ride with us.  Hope you enjoy the Good, the Bad and the Ugly of the last year of radio I did.

Ep. 94: Shredding The Tomb - How Low Can You Go?

Ep. 94: Shredding The Tomb - How Low Can You Go?

In this week’s episode, we bow down as low as we can get to the almighty bass guitar heroes! The heart of rock n’ roll is the rhythm and this week we explore some of the most amazing low-frequency providers. How do they make such wonderful noise with metal wires on a piece of wood? This subject holds a very special place in Kevin’s heart, as he tries very hard to play the same instrument that we are praising this week.

What’s this InObscuria thing? We’re a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss all three. Get out your old Bass Player mags and flip the pages as we discuss some of the most amazing fingers to ever slappa da bass!

The Story of Rock and Roll: S4E10

The Story of Rock and Roll: S4E10

S4E10 aired at 7 pm on 11 March 2021.  The show kicked off with Joe Bonamassa and a track called Bridge To Better Days which is something we should all be trying to build.   Breakdown by G 'n' R really went down well, one of those songs you really feel like listening to and it doesn't disappoint.

There was plenty to get your teeth into, punk from UK Subs, Ramones and the Clash, classics from ACDC, Megadeth and Black Sabbath, metal from Parkway Drive, Iced Earth and Pantera, and South African stuff from LA Cobra, Deadline, Rasskopleef! and The Uninvited.  Raaskopleef! was a first not only for TSORR but for radio in general.  It's a sort of cult band formed in Wellington in the Western Cape and this particular track called Elektrisiteit is a translation of Hunter S. Thompson's essay ' Electricity' .   Hearing Bon Jovi's 'You Give Love a Bad Name' again was great, it has been ages, great guitar work from Richie Sambora, no wonder they got so huge.  Other than that, a nice melancholy bit in the middle featuring Powderfinger, Hinder, Linkin Park, and Don Henley, and then we smashed it all up with 'Crazy Bitch' by Buckcherry, good times indeed.

Artists featured:  Joe Bonamassa, ACDC, Y&T, Guns 'n' Roses, Foo Fighters, Alice Cooper, Def Leppard, Disturbed, The Bloodhound Gang, Parkway Drive, Warren Haynes, Nirvana, Iced Earth, Megadeth, Bon Jovi, Tesla, The Clash, Ramones, UK Subs, Whitesnake, Desperado, LA Cobra, Deadline, Powderfinger, Hinder, Linkin Park, Don Henley, Buckcherry, The Dead Daisies, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Raaskopleef!, The Distillers, Black Sabbath, Kid Rock, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pantera, The Uninvited

    10-Time Grammy-Nominated Singer-Songwriter Jamey Johnson

Success coach and former professional golfer, Christina Lecuyer interviews the kind-hearted, introverted, INCREDIBLE country music sing-songwriter, Jamey Johnson. This episode takes you on Jamey’s amazing journey into music, the twists and turns he took to get where he is today and how he always remembered to follow his gut. Plus, a special shoutout to a foundation close to Jamey’s heart, the Nikki Mitchell Foundation.

    Jamey Johnson’s Bio:

Truth and tradition. These non-negotiable principles serve as the bedrock of the music of 11-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson, who is “one of the greatest country singers of our time,” according to The Washington Post . Indeed, the Alabama native has been acknowledged by many as country music’s north star, guiding us down a path of confession and conflict to a place of reflection and redemption. He is one of only a few people in the history of country music to win two Song of the Year Awards – for “Give It Away” and “In Color”-- from the Academy of Country Music and the Country Music Association. He has received tremendous praise from The New York Times, Rolling Stone, The Wall Street Journal and other publications, many of which have hailed his albums as masterpieces. He was among the artists asked to set Johnny Cash’s poetry to music in the new album Johnny Cash Forever Words: The Music.

His influential album, That Lonesome Song , was certified platinum for 1 million in sales, and his innovative double album, The Guitar Song , debuted at No. 1 on the country album charts and was certified gold. In 2012, he released a Grammy-nominated project honoring one of his heroes, Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran. In addition to his own recordings, he has written songs for George Strait, Willie Nelson, Trace Adkins, James Otto, Joe Nichols and others. He and Alison Krauss recently joined Brantley Gilbert to record the song “Fire and Brimstone” for Gilbert’s new album.
