Demystifying Infrared Saunas for Physical & Mental Health with Connie Zack

    enJuly 28, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • Detoxify and Reduce Stress with Infrared SaunasInfrared saunas help women over 40 manage menopause symptoms, shift out of stress mode, and improve overall health by balancing the nervous system.

An infrared sauna is a powerful tool for women over 40, especially during menopause, to detoxify the body and reduce stress. When we're under chronic stress, our brains get locked into the fight or flight mode, preventing us from accessing the prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for creativity, hope, and possibility. Infrared saunas can help shift us out of fight or flight and into a relaxed state, making it easier to manage symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes and depression. Additionally, infrared saunas can improve both the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems, making them an effective tool for overall health and wellness. Joining the Reset Academy, led by Dr. Mindy, provides access to a supportive community and expert guidance to help you incorporate fasting and other lifestyle changes into your routine for optimal health.

    • Experience the benefits of infrared saunasInfrared saunas directly heat your body, providing comfort while managing stress, improving circulation, detoxifying, and promoting hormonal balance

Incorporating an infrared sauna into your lifestyle can significantly improve your health and well-being. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air, infrared saunas directly heat your body, making the experience more comfortable and less oppressive. This preventative and healing tool can help manage physical, emotional, and chemical stress, which is increasingly important in today's complex world. Infrared saunas offer numerous benefits, including hormonal balance, improved circulation, and detoxification. They can be easily incorporated into your routine with portable options available, making it an accessible addition to your health habits. By understanding the mechanism behind infrared saunas, you can make an informed decision about incorporating this simple yet powerful practice into your life.

    • Boosting health from within with infrared heat therapyInfrared heat therapy aids in cellular processes, promotes sweating for toxin removal, and strengthens the body

Infrared heat therapy offers two primary therapeutic benefits: heating the body from the inside out to stimulate cellular processes, similar to a fever, and promoting sweating for toxin removal. These mechanisms work together to strengthen the body and improve overall health. The body needs to undergo changes to build itself up, and while symptoms like fever or soreness can be uncomfortable, they are essential for this process. Research, such as the BUS study, supports the idea that infrared therapy aids in toxin removal, with toxins being expelled through sweat. It's essential to remember that making health and wellness simple and accessible is crucial for people to adopt these practices into their lives.

    • Detoxify, boost energy, and increase core temperature with infrared saunasInfrared saunas provide health benefits through detoxification, energy boost, and core temperature increase, leaving users feeling lighter and clearer instead of exhausted, and efficiently eliminating toxins like heavy metals and plastics.

An infrared sauna provides numerous health benefits, including detoxification, energy boost, and core temperature increase, by filtering out harmful rays and focusing on the highest quantity of therapeutic infrared wavelengths. Unlike traditional saunas, infrared saunas leave users feeling lighter, clearer, and more energized rather than exhausted. Moreover, the sauna's detoxifying effects are more powerful through sweat than through blood and urine, making it an efficient tool for eliminating toxins such as heavy metals, plastics, and endocrine disruptors. While more research is needed, anecdotal evidence and the experiences of healthcare professionals support the use of infrared saunas as a valuable detoxification method, particularly for women dealing with hormonal imbalances.

    • Infrared saunas offer detoxification and organ supportInfrared saunas promote detoxification, support organs, enhance healing with skincare, and utilize different wavelengths for optimal benefits. Regular use can help prevent chronic disease.

Infrared saunas offer more than just a way to sweat. They help the body detoxify by removing toxins and supporting the thyroid and other organs. When everything is working together in harmony, the body functions optimally. However, in our toxic environment, having a detox strategy is crucial to prevent chronic disease. After a sauna session, applying good skincare products can enhance the healing process. A study using near infrared LEDs on surgical wounds showed accelerated healing. Infrared saunas utilize different wavelengths: far, mid, and near. Far infrared raises core temperature and vibrates water molecules, while near infrared has powerful skin benefits. Understanding these wavelengths and their therapeutic values can help maximize the benefits of using an infrared sauna. Additionally, activating the parasympathetic nervous system during sauna use can aid in relaxation and stress reduction.

    • Exploring the Different Infrared Sauna WavelengthsFar infrared saunas heat deeply, mid-infrared saunas offer faster relief, and near-infrared saunas are converted to LEDs for skin benefits. Smart Saunas combine all three wavelengths and red light therapy for optimal health.

Far infrared saunas utilize the longest wavelength of sunlight's infrared spectrum, which penetrates deeply into the body to increase core temperature and work with water molecules. Mid-infrared saunas are hotter and shorter, leading to faster heat dissipation and inflammation relief. Near-infrared saunas, although powerful for skin rejuvenation and wound healing, cannot be directly delivered to the body due to their extreme heat. To address this, near-infrared wavelengths have been converted to LEDs, allowing for close proximity and effective treatment. Smart Saunas offer all three wavelengths, with the addition of red light therapy, providing various health benefits. By making these therapeutic benefits accessible through easy-to-use programs and settings, sauna use becomes an effortless and consistent addition to one's self-care routine.

    • A 60-day fitness program with hormonal considerations and stress reliefPowerSync 60 is a 60-day fitness program designed for men and women, incorporating hormonal considerations, fasting, and stress relief, with a free meal plan and customized eating guide.

PowerSync 60 is a groundbreaking 60-day fitness program designed for men and women, created with the understanding that hormonal considerations are crucial when working out. This revolutionary program, which includes a free meal plan and customized eating guide, also incorporates fasting and focuses on activating the parasympathetic nervous system for relaxation and stress relief. The benefits of this program extend beyond physical fitness, as the activation of the parasympathetic nervous system can help alleviate symptoms of perimenopause and menopause by reducing stress on the adrenal glands and promoting overall relaxation and improved circulation. PowerSync 60 is a passion project that offers a holistic approach to health and wellness, combining the expertise of Dr. Mindy and Tony, and providing a supportive community for individuals looking to improve their health and well-being.

    • Incorporating regular relaxation practices like sauna use for hormonal balance and stress managementSauna use can improve heart rate variability, extend life with 15 minutes a day, and is essential for busy individuals to prioritize relaxation despite demanding schedules

Incorporating regular relaxation practices, such as using a sauna, is crucial for healing hormonally imbalanced bodies and managing stress. The sauna acts as a tool to help switch the body into a relaxed state, which can lead to improved heart rate variability (HRV) and overall well-being. This is particularly important for busy individuals, who may need to train their minds to prioritize relaxation despite their demanding schedules. Studies have shown that infrared heat therapy, which provides a soothing, warm experience, can extend both the quantity and quality of life with just 15 minutes a day. It's essential to view relaxation as a necessity rather than a luxury, even during busy times. By making small commitments, such as starting with just a few minutes in the sauna, individuals can experience the creative benefits of a relaxed mind and effectively manage their day.

    • Daily practices like infrared healing and meditation impact overall health and well-beingIncorporating daily practices like infrared healing and meditation can unlock new creative potential and lead to long-term health benefits by improving creativity, relaxation, and energy, while helping unlock stuck areas in the brain and pulling us out of the stress response.

Incorporating daily practices like infrared healing and meditation, even for a short duration, can significantly impact your overall health and well-being. These practices create a rhythmic cycle that leads to various benefits, including improved creativity, relaxation, and energy. The science behind these practices suggests that they help unlock stuck areas in the brain and pull us out of the stress response, allowing us to access our prefrontal cortex for enhanced focus and problem-solving abilities. By making these practices a daily habit, you'll experience long-term health benefits and unlock new creative potential.

    • Switching out of stress response with infrared sauna use10 minutes daily infrared sauna use can relieve depression symptoms for up to 6 weeks, improving focus and potentially expanding the brain

Taking just 10 minutes a day for infrared sauna use can help switch your brain out of the stress response, leading to improved focus and potentially even brain expansion. This is particularly relevant for women going through menopause, as depression rates increase due to the loss of estradiol, which activates serotonin receptors in the brain. Studies have shown that one session in a heated infrared sauna can relieve depression symptoms for up to 6 weeks. The mechanism behind this is the elevation of core temperature, which communicates happiness to the brain through the skin. This accessible and enjoyable solution offers hope for those struggling with depression, providing a valuable tool for managing symptoms and improving overall wellbeing.

    • Improve mood and happiness with infrared saunasUsing portable infrared saunas can boost mood, regulate body temperature, and promote better sleep, even in short sessions. Infrared heat is absorbed faster when the body is cooler, making it a healthier alternative to alcohol. Regular use can lead to long-term happiness and improved well-being.

Using portable infrared saunas, like the LIDAL model, can help improve mood and happiness by increasing core body temperature, even if it's not hot to the touch. This is beneficial for individuals with depression as it can help regulate body temperature and promote better sleep. The longer the session, the better the results, and it's even effective when the sauna isn't hot. Infrared heat is absorbed faster when the body is cooler, making it a healthier alternative to substances like alcohol. Studies have shown that regular use of infrared saunas can lead to long-term happiness and improved well-being. For menopausal women and others seeking tools for happiness, even short sessions in the sauna can make a difference. Infrared heat may help unlock the thermoregulation switch in the brain, allowing the body to cool down naturally and promoting better sleep. This hormetic stressor can lead to long-term benefits, making it a valuable addition to any self-care routine.

    • Fasting and heat therapy for expanded healingDaily infrared sauna use, fasting, and self-love can lead to greater overall health and well-being. Stay focused on personal values to make difficult decisions and practice self-love.

Fasting and using heat therapy, such as infrared saunas, can help the body enter a more expansive healing state. This state can lead to greater overall health and well-being, but it's important to avoid bombarding the body with additional stressors. The use of an infrared sauna is a daily practice of self-love and can be a gentler alternative to traditional saunas for menopausal women. Additionally, having a clear understanding of personal values and staying focused on them can make it easier to make difficult decisions and practice self-love. The speaker shared her own superpowers of intuition and positivity, emphasizing the importance of staying intentional and focused on one's goals to navigate the challenges of life.

    • Personal Morning Routine for Self-Care and HealingEmbrace change, connect with nature, practice self-love, and seek support for healing and growth.

The speaker shares her personal morning routine, which includes setting intentions, asking for help from the universe, and practicing self-love.
