    Podcast Summary

    • Staying Calm and Composed Around Attractive PeopleWhen feeling nervous around attractive people, take deep breaths, slow down speech and movements, and focus on being present to build stronger and more authentic connections.

When we encounter someone we find attractive, our nerves can get the best of us, causing us to fidget, talk too fast, and become overly reactive. This can be dangerous as it may come across as insincere or unauthentic. Instead, it's important to remain calm and in control. By staying composed, we can create a more genuine and meaningful connection with the other person. So, next time you find yourself feeling nervous around someone you find attractive, take a deep breath, slow down your speech and movements, and focus on being present in the moment. This will help you build a stronger and more authentic connection with the other person. Remember, confidence and authenticity are attractive qualities, so embrace them and let your true self shine through.

    • React slowly to regain control in conversationsSlowing down responses and keeping calm demeanor can make you appear more in control and dictate the pace of conversations

In interactions with others, reacting overly sensitively or quickly can give the other person a sense of power. To regain control, try slowing down your responses, keeping your body still, and taking the pressure off yourself to come up with intelligent or quick answers. This can help you appear more calm and collected, allowing you to better dictate the pace and tone of the conversation. Remember, even if you're feeling nervous, giving yourself a few extra seconds to respond can make a big difference in how you come across to others. Additionally, just like how people may come across more charming or witty in written communication due to the extra time to respond, applying this logic to in-person interactions can help you present yourself in a more favorable light.

    • Let them do most of the talkingSlow down, stay calm, and let the other person lead the conversation to build a stronger connection

During a conversation with someone you find attractive, it's important to let them do most of the talking. Don't rush to fill silences or feel the need to constantly agree or laugh at their every word. Instead, take a more relaxed approach and slow down the pace of the conversation. This not only helps reduce nerves but also gives the other person a sense of control and keeps them guessing. It's okay to disagree or tease them without fear of consequences. By remaining unreactive, you show that you're in control and not completely phased by your attraction to them. So, if you're feeling nervous, remember to slow down, stay calm, and let the other person lead the conversation. This approach can help build a stronger connection and keep the conversation flowing naturally.

(Rewind): Don’t Avoid Difficult Conversations In Relationships. Do THIS…

(Rewind): Don’t Avoid Difficult Conversations In Relationships. Do THIS…
Sometimes we avoid speaking up about what we really want with a person because we're afraid we will "make waves" in the relationship.

We come from a place of fear and anxiety. "What if me telling him I want something to be different makes him walk away altogether?" we think to ourselves.

So we ignore the conversation and silently suffer.

But then nothing gets better. We just put off the conversation for another day while time keeps moving on.
If this is you, this episode is for you.

    The power of coaching conversations

    The power of coaching conversations

"I can be who I choose to be"

If you're curious about the power of coaching conversations and if you are a high achiever, then you'll love this podcast. Linley Rose, MCC, is my very special guest. I've known Linley for the past 16 years. She was my Executive Coach and has supported me through several promotions from being an Assistant Headteacher to becoming a Headteacher. She then coached my senior team and my staff.

Being a high achiever does not mean that things are easy. They're not!

Here are some of the questions that I asked Linley (and there were many more in between and after those)

    * You are working with leaders and high achievers. What’s your definition of high achiever? What’s the difference with being an ‘elite’?

    * Your clients are looking for clarity, focus, confidence and correctness. How do you measure the impact of coaching on those?

    * What are the types of conflicts that coaching that is reduced or eradicated when you have coaching?

    * You are a certified facilitator of tools: DISC, working style analysis. How reliable are those tools and how do you use them?

    * How are leaders challenged by COVID 19 and how can coaching help them?

We agreed that there is a common characteristic that all leaders can have. Not all leaders display it.

If you are curious about how can help leverage your leadership strengths, please visit my website.
